She Was a Teen Model in Texas Before Becoming a 1980s Scream Queen — Can You Recognize Her Today? — Photos

She once romanced a future Oscar winner, faced a masked killer, and narrowly missed out on two enormous movies, but the repeated heartbreak behind the auditions eventually became too much to bear.

This actress first appeared in Texas department store ads before her expressive eyes, and her girl-next-door charm made her one of the 1980s’ most memorable faces. More than four decades later, she looks radiant at 63, yet the life she built after leaving Hollywood may be even more unexpected than her transformation.

A Shy Texas Girl Found Her Courage in Front of a Camera

Long before movie audiences knew her, this future star was a painfully timid 13-year-old living in Liberty, Texas. Standing before her classmates to deliver a book report could feel physically uncomfortable, so her mother enrolled her at the Barbizon School of Modeling in Houston.

The decision awakened something in the teenager. Modeling felt creative rather than frightening, and the girl who struggled to speak publicly began flourishing whenever a camera was pointed in her direction.

There was also a wonderfully wild detail to those weekly classes. She had a hardship driver’s license and took herself from Liberty to Houston at just 13 or 14 years old, something she admitted in a November 2025 interview would be difficult to imagine today.

Her fear apparently stopped at the driver’s seat. She might have dreaded classroom presentations, but traveling alone to chase an opportunity did not scare her at all.

The course lasted around six months, and she eventually won a title she remembered as something resembling “Miss Barbizon.” More importantly, she met photographer Wally Lewis, who recognized that her appeal belonged beyond the modeling classroom.

Lewis began hiring her for catalogs and newspaper advertisements promoting Houston department stores, including Joske’s, Foley’s, and Sanger-Harris. She modeled junior clothing throughout high school, meaning classmates who knew her as the shy girl could suddenly open the newspaper and find her posing inside.

That early success was especially meaningful because glamour was hardly the family business. Her father was a Marine Corps pilot, her mother worked as an executive assistant, and her only brother later entered the music industry, according to her biography.

One Dutiful Habit Put Her in the Right Room

During her senior year, her mother’s work took the family to Dallas. The aspiring model signed with the Kim Dawson agency and developed a habit that revealed just how seriously she treated every possible assignment.

She would arrive carrying three different looks, usually something casual, work-appropriate clothing, and a bathing suit. If a last-minute job appeared, she wanted to be ready instead of wishing she had packed differently.

That preparation mattered when Bruce Cooper, who was married to modeling legend Wilhelmina Cooper at the time, visited the agency while scouting talent. Her agents warned that he would probably dismiss her as too short, but they urged her to show him her portfolio anyway.

He did not dismiss her. Instead, Cooper told the then-17-year-old to contact specific people at Wilhelmina Models once she reached California.

She even asked him to write the information on his letterhead, ensuring she could prove the invitation was real. It was a remarkably practical move from a teenager standing at the edge of an entirely new life.

Wilhelmina wanted her but could not sign her until she was legally an adult. She completed auditions and recorded material on tape, then waited for the birthday that would finally remove the obstacle.

The moment she turned 18, she called to announce, “I’m 18.” The agency signed her, and California opened a path far bigger than the one she had originally imagined.

Auditions Became More Thrilling Than the Runway

Wilhelmina began sending its new client to auditions for commercials and acting work. Instead of freezing under the pressure, she found the process exhilarating.

“I found them fun and exciting,” she recalled in a 2014 conversation. “The process seemed easy to me.” It was a startling reversal for someone who had once been so frightened of public speaking.

Television work came first, followed by a movie that would turn her into the bright, romantic heart of an enduring 1980s favorite. Yet horror had already been quietly waiting for her since childhood.

At 9 years old, she would babysit her 6-year-old brother while their parents went out. Once night arrived, she pulled out a blanket and searched television for black-and-white movies featuring Dracula, mummies, or werewolves.

She later realized that many of the movies she adored were Hammer productions. The blanket provided the perfect survival system: she could peek when curiosity won and cover her eyes whenever the fear became too deliciously intense.

She still enjoys horror that creates genuine suspense, although excessive gore and disturbing imagery have lost their appeal. That childhood fascination makes her later reign as a scream queen feel almost uncannily appropriate.

A Punk Romance Turned Her Into an ’80s Darling

The mystery actress is Deborah Foreman, the luminous star who played Julie Richman opposite Nicolas Cage in the 1983 romantic comedy “Valley Girl.”

Now 63, Deborah remains instantly recognizable through her bright smile and striking eyes. Her look today is polished and natural, with blonde hair framing a face that still carries the playful warmth audiences remember from the film.

“Valley Girl” followed Julie, a popular teenager who began questioning her relationship with Tommy after meeting Randy, a Hollywood punk played by Nicolas. Their clashing worlds created the movie’s central romance, but the connection between its leads required very little manufacturing.

The chemistry, it was already there,” Deborah told People in August 2026. When one actor tried something, the other responded instinctively, creating exchanges that neither had rehearsed.

They also invented a private signal involving their noses. Deborah could no longer explain exactly what it meant, but the gesture appears in the film and apparently delighted them whenever they exchanged it.

That ease extended to the physical affection between Julie and Randy. Watching the movie decades later, Deborah noticed herself naturally reaching for Nicolas or holding him in ways that had never been planned.

Her memories remain deeply affectionate, but she draws a firm and rather fabulous boundary around the romance. “I’ve said this before out loud, and I’ll say it again, Nicolas Cage will be the love of my life between the words action and cut,” she declared.

She considers the film a love letter to first romance and views her role in it as an extraordinary artistic gift. Its association with Modern English’s “I Melt with You” has also endured, and Deborah recently joined the group onstage to introduce the song at a concert.

Comedy and Horror Made Her a Scream Queen

“Valley Girl” established Deborah as an appealing romantic lead, but she refused to remain trapped in one genre. She starred in the 1986 comedy “My Chauffeur” before playing two crucial roles in the slasher mystery “April Fool’s Day.”

The latter made excellent use of her ability to shift from warmth to something far more unnerving. Its elaborate twists helped turn the film into a lasting home-video favorite and secured Deborah’s place among the era’s most recognizable scream queens.

In 1986, ShoWest named her the Most Promising New Star. She also became a successful Maybelline model, bringing her career neatly back to the camera work that had first helped a shy Texas teenager find her confidence.

More genre projects followed, including “Waxwork” in 1988. With its collection of gruesome displays and supernatural danger, the movie strengthened her connection to horror audiences even as she continued taking comedy and television roles.

Fans still approach her with memories of “Valley Girl,” “My Chauffeur,” “April Fool’s Day,” and “Waxwork.” However, the industry behind those beloved performances was beginning to wound the actress who made them look so effortless.

Two Major Movies Left Her Facing a Brutal Limit

By the early 1990s, Deborah felt that she had reached a glass ceiling. The work being offered no longer made her happy, and every professional disappointment carried an increasingly personal cost.

Two painful encounters centered on director Herbert Ross. Deborah had auditioned for his 1987 comedy “The Secret of My Success,” and she said the director and casting team wanted her for the part that eventually went to Helen Slater.

Money reportedly became an issue. Deborah’s representatives were unhappy with the proposed arrangement, so they passed on the movie.

She later learned that Helen had purchased her own ticket to New York because she wanted the opportunity so badly. Deborah believed that declining the project did not sit well with the filmmakers, a concern that resurfaced during an even more important audition.

She was subsequently considered to play Sally Field’s daughter in “Steel Magnolias,” the role that made Julia Roberts a star. The cast would also include Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton, Daryl Hannah, and Olympia Dukakis.

When Deborah entered the room, Herbert greeted her with a pointed reminder: “We missed you on the set.” “Sorry about that,” she answered, choosing not to explain the earlier pay dispute because she felt that discussing it there would be inappropriate.

Deborah continued the audition while sensing that the energy had changed. She believed she was delivering the same qualities Herbert had appreciated before, but this time, the role slipped away.

Deborah Foreman underwent a noticeable change in appearance over the years, which may surprise many fans because she stepped away from the industry in the 1990s. The loss carried an extra sting because she had felt an unusually strong creative understanding with him. Simple direction from Herbert could energize her performance, yet they never worked together.

Deborah holds no resentment toward Julia or the final ensemble. She believes “Steel Magnolias” ended up with an excellent cast and charmingly explained that there is “a hat for every head.” Still, the accumulating rejection could not be brushed aside forever. Hollywood had begun hurting her heart, and remaining inside that cycle no longer felt worth the price.

She Walked Away Before Hollywood Could Break Her Heart Again

Deborah finally approached her agency and confronted the truth. “I can’t do this anymore. It doesn’t feel right, it doesn’t feel good,” she recalled telling her representatives in a recent catch-up.

She stepped away from acting in 1991, although she later returned for a handful of smaller appearances. For a performer once hailed as one of the industry’s most promising young stars, the decision was dramatic, but it allowed her to stop fighting for work that left her feeling diminished.

Even after stepping away to build a normal life, Deborah Foreman began attending fan conventions and discovered that audiences still deeply connected with her work. The departure did not erase her happiest memories. It also could not sever the bond between her movies and the people who had grown up watching them.

At fan conventions, Deborah discovered an audience that knew far more than the handful of titles most frequently attached to her name. Attendees shared personal stories about how individual performances affected their lives. “I love to do cons,” she told Worcester Magazine in 2022. “It deeply touches me.”

Attending separate events allowed Deborah Foreman to stay close to fans without stepping back into an industry she did not want to return to. At this event, she attended 80's Weekend at Microsoft Theater on August 12, 2016, in Los Angeles, California. | Source: Getty Images

The convention circuit now occupies more of her time than acting. It gives her the joyful part of recognition, meeting viewers who cared, without forcing her back into the audition rooms that once caused so much pain.

Her New Classroom Is Far From a Movie Set

Deborah’s main profession today is one few fans would have predicted while watching her flee a killer in “April Fool’s Day.” She is now a full-time Pilates instructor teaching approximately 250 students every week.

‘All That’ Actress Christy Knowings, 46, Dies After Sudden Health Crisis — Cast Members React

The comedy star spent years bringing outlandish characters to life, but her final days unfolded with a speed and severity few could have anticipated. A medical emergency left her family facing an agonizing decision only days after she entered the hospital.

Christy Knowings, best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s “All That,” died Tuesday night at 46. As news of her death spread, former castmates shared memories that showed how much of herself she gave both on camera and away from it.

A Sudden Emergency Became a Family’s Worst Fear

Knowings was hospitalized on Friday, August 7, 2026, after suffering an asthma attack, according to information a family member provided to TMZ. The attack caused brain damage, and she was placed on life support.

She remained on life support through Tuesday, August 11. Her family then made the painful decision to remove her from it, and Knowings died that night at a hospital in the Los Angeles area.

For many viewers, especially those who grew up watching Nickelodeon in the late 1990s, her death meant losing one of the performers who helped define an important period of childhood television.

She Found Her Place in a Famous Comedy Family

Born in the Bronx, Knowings appeared in “And Now This,” a Rosie O’Donnell sketch-comedy special produced by Nickelodeon, before joining “All That” in 1997. She remained a regular cast member for three seasons, through 2000.

The series brought Knowings into an ensemble that included Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, and other young performers. Its cast helped turn “All That” into one of Nickelodeon’s signature shows.

The sketch series also produced several spinoffs, including “Kenan & Kel,” “The Amanda Show,” and “The Nick Cannon Show.” Knowings became part of that wider legacy through characters whose exaggerated personalities suited her bold approach to comedy.

Among her best-known roles were Penny Lane and Jessica. Jessica appeared alongside Bynes’ character in the recurring “Whateverrr!!!” sketches, which centered on two excitable girls with strong opinions and shared celebrity crushes.

Her career also extended beyond “All That.” Knowings appeared in three episodes of “Sesame Street” with her real-life twin brother, Chris Knowings. In 2020, she released the folk single “To the World,” adding music to a creative life most closely associated with acting and comedy.

The tributes that followed her death revealed another part of her story. Behind the memorable characters was a woman her colleagues considered kind, supportive, and impossible to overlook once a scene began.

Her Nickelodeon Family Remembers Her

Mitchell, who worked alongside Knowings on “All That,” praised the individuality behind her performances. He remembered a naturally funny comedian who was willing to take risks and build characters entirely her own way.

“Christy was truly one of a kind,” Mitchell wrote in his farewell post. “She had a gift for creating characters that were big, memorable, and completely her own.”

Mitchell said he remained grateful for their laughter and their time together as members of the “All That” family. He thanked Knowings for the joy she gave audiences and sent his love to her relatives and friends.

Thompson also expressed shock over the loss of his former “All That” colleague. “Never could have imagined this day!!” Thompson wrote in his remembrance. “She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!!”

The “SNL” star asked followers to show Knowings love and said he would miss his friend. Josh Server remembered how naturally Knowings entered an already established cast. Although she joined later in the show’s original run, he said she immediately found her rhythm.

“Christy was a light in every room and was such a kind soul,” Server wrote in an Instagram tribute. “Every time we performed she made every one around her better.”

Lisa Foiles joined “All That” after Knowings’ time on the program, but Knowings had already influenced her long before they met. Foiles said she closely studied the earlier performer’s expressions and complete dedication to every joke.

“Christy was mesmerizing to me on All That,” Foiles wrote in an Instagram reel. “I dreamed of being in her shoes, and even when I joined the show, I knew they were impossibly big shoes to fill.”

Foiles eventually met the performer she had admired and discovered that her kindness matched her talent. She encouraged fans to spend time watching Knowings make them laugh, directing their grief back toward the work that first connected them.

Angelique Bates‘ tribute revealed an even more private side of Knowings’ life. Bates, an original “All That” cast member, said their relationship had grown into a close bond that continued even away from Nickelodeon. “I lost my SISTER,” Bates wrote in her personal tribute. “This SISTERHOOD was beyond ALL THAT.”

The women spoke for hours and consistently supported each other’s work. Bates shared that Knowings had traveled a considerable distance only months earlier to attend an event for which Bates was working as the publicist.

Bates said she was grateful that she and Latangela Newsome repeatedly told Knowings how talented and loved she was. Her message closed with a direct request: “Don’t EVER forget her name!

The praise from Mitchell, Thompson, Server, Foiles, and Bates also pointed toward the same quality: Knowings left a lasting impression whether someone worked beside her, followed her into the cast, or knew her away from the cameras.

Her own reflections from years earlier help explain why that impression lasted.

Her Favorite Character Followed Her Off Camera

In a 2019 Bustle interview, Knowings spoke with delight about the freedom “All That” gave her. She singled out Gloria Bankhead as her favorite character.

Gloria, whom Knowings played during Season 6, was an exaggerated take on Martha Stewart. The role allowed her to try a kind of performance she had never attempted before.

Knowings recalled staying in character throughout the workday, even when cameras were not rolling. Writers and stage managers embraced the bit and greeted her as Gloria around the set.

Some of her fondest memories involved the musical guests who visited “All That.” When 98 Degrees appeared, Knowings entertained the group backstage by guessing their zodiac signs and pretending to read their palms.

She also remembered meeting the Spice Girls. One of her castmates was so excited that he repeatedly struggled to deliver his line, though Knowings said the visiting performers were patient about it.

Those memories offered a glimpse of a production that could feel like a child’s fantasy while still carrying the demands of a professional television set. Knowings understood both sides, but the stories she preserved were rooted in laughter and spontaneous play.

Her Work Carried More Meaning Than She First Realized

Knowings later recognized that her presence on television mattered to young viewers who rarely saw themselves represented in children’s sketch comedy. She identified herself as Native American Afro-Latina and said her Bronx background helped her bring details to the show that its writers might not otherwise have known.

She and Thompson could contribute cultural touches drawn from their own experiences. Knowings specifically remembered “Inconvenience Store” as a sketch that included elements audiences understand more readily now than they did at the time.

The show welcomed those contributions. For Knowings, that made the comedy more authentic and allowed the cast’s differences to become a creative advantage.

The full impact became clearer when Black viewers who watched her seasons told her they had paid particular attention to her. Knowings had been the only Black girl in the cast when she joined, a responsibility she had not completely understood while filming.

Gwen Stefani, 56, Shares Emotional Statement About Blake Shelton’s Dog That Has Fans Talking About His Ex — Video

The singer’s farewell honored a dog who had spent nearly two decades being cherished by one family after another. Yet the length of that extraordinary life soon left fans retracing her journey to a woman who once loved her, too.

Gwen Stefani, 56, announced on Saturday, September 5, 2026, that Betty, the Rottweiler mix she shared with husband Blake Shelton, 50, had died. Her emotional statement and family video captured the joy Betty brought into their home, while her age raised questions about the beloved dog’s life before Gwen.

Gwen Said Goodbye to 18 Years of Love

Gwen announced the loss through a deeply personal Instagram post, writing on behalf of the family whose lives Betty had filled for a long time.

“It’s with the heaviest hearts that we share our sweet Betty has gone to heaven 💔🕊️🐾,” she wrote. “She made us all smile for 18 years… we’re going to miss her forever. Thank u Betty for all the love + joy u brought into our lives 🦋💗 gx [sic].”

The words were simple, but the grief behind them was unmistakable. After 18 years of affection and familiar routines, Betty’s absence leaves a space that will be felt in every corner of the family’s life.

Gwen paired the statement with a video set to “Nobody But You,” her romantic duet with Blake. It moved through photographs and clips of Betty being held, stroked, played with, and surrounded by the people who adored her.

Blake appeared in the montage alongside Gwen and her sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo Rossdale. The footage quietly showed what Betty had become to them: a constant presence through years of family memories.

There were also glimpses of her public life, including television mentions and her appearance in the “Nobody But You” music video. Betty may have been a family dog, but she had earned a little place in Gwen and Blake’s shared career as well.

Other clips showed her enjoying Blake’s ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She could roam through its wide-open land, staying close to the country singer whose life she had been part of for far longer than many viewers initially realized.

One Recent Outing Now Feels Especially Precious

Only weeks before Betty’s death, Gwen had decided to bring her along for another special night. In mid-August, she and the senior dog crashed one of Blake’s concerts together.

Neither Blake Shelton nor Gwen Stefani posted often about their pets, but they did add a few photos and videos every once in a while, showing fans their real life. This is a photo of her and Betty posted on January 16, 2022. | Source: Instagram/gwenstefani

Betty spent time with Gwen inside her trailer before the performance. She wore a handkerchief around her neck, while a dog bed had been placed nearby so the 18-year-old could rest whenever she needed to.

It was a tender arrangement for an elderly companion who still deserved to be included in the family’s adventures. Looking back now, the footage carries the sadness of a final outing that nobody knew would become so meaningful.

Her presence at Blake’s show also reflected how naturally she belonged beside both spouses. Although Betty’s earliest years were spent with Blake, she had developed a bond with Gwen that the couple once discussed with obvious amusement.

Blake Joked That Betty Had Become Gwen’s Dog

Betty appeared alongside the couple in the music video for “Nobody But You,” where she enthusiastically jumped over Gwen. Her behavior later inspired a playful conversation during a 2020 CMT interview.

When the interviewer wondered whether Betty had been jealous, Gwen initially began to deny it before conceding that the dog could indeed become possessive. Blake quickly agreed. “She gets jealous,” he said. “She’s Gwen’s dog now, so that’s where the jealousy is.”

Gwen responded with a sweet correction of her own, “She loves both of her parents very much.”

Years later, “Nobody But You” became the soundtrack Gwen selected for Betty’s memorial. The same song that preserved the dog happily interrupting one of their romantic scenes now accompanied images of an entire life the couple was struggling to release.

Yet one detail in Gwen’s announcement prompted some people to look beyond those family memories. When she revealed that Betty had lived for 18 years, fans realized the dog had been with Blake long before his relationship with Gwen began.

Fans Questioned the Timeline Behind Gwen’s Farewell

Many people responded first with sympathy, understanding how excruciating it can be to lose an animal after so many years. Beneath an Instagram post, one person wrote, “The worst pain ever 💔😢🐾.”

Another offered Gwen and Blake a comforting message: “So hard to lose a part of your family. May you find peace 💔.” However, one question captured the confusion surrounding Betty’s age: Have they been together 18 years?!?”

Gwen and Blake met as coaches on “The Voice” and began dating in 2015 before marrying in 2021. Betty’s age therefore made it clear that she had spent many years with Blake before his relationship with Gwen began.

That realization brought Miranda Lambert, Blake’s former wife, into the discussion. On Facebook, one commenter wrote, “Old enough to remember Miranda.” Another said, “It was probably Miranda’s dog first.”

Someone else questioned the history more forcefully, writing, “How is it there beloved dog if the dog was before the mirage I think it’s Miranda lamberts dog to [sic].” Amid those remarks, another person returned attention to the loss itself: “18 years is a wonderful life for a dog. So sorry for your loss.”

The questions were understandable, but Betty’s history offered a more nuanced explanation. She had indeed been present during Blake’s marriage to Miranda, and Miranda had once spoken about her with unmistakable fondness.

Miranda Once Revealed How Betty Entered Blake’s Life

Miranda discussed Betty in a 2013 interview about the numerous animals she and Blake cared for during their marriage. She revealed that Betty and her sister had been found beside a road near the couple’s Oklahoma neighborhood.

“And we have Betty, a hound,” Miranda said. “Betty is Blake’s dog in every way.”

She then described a personality that sounded strikingly familiar to anyone who knew the country star. “She acts just like Blake, as she’s the most mischievous and loving thing in the world,” the “Gunpowder & Lead” singer explained.

“She travels with both of us off and on.”

Miranda’s recollection confirmed that she had known and cared for Betty during that earlier chapter. It also specifically identified Betty as Blake’s dog, helping explain why she remained with him after his marriage to Miranda ended.

But the situation is simple, really. As Blake’s life changed, Betty’s circle of love grew. She formed a close attachment to Gwen, became part of her sons’ lives, and eventually inspired Blake to joke that she belonged to his new partner.

None of those relationships erase the ones that came before. Betty lived long enough to be loved in different seasons of Blake’s life, and the sorrow surrounding her death reflects just how many memories she left behind.

She was also part of a household where rescuing an animal in need was hardly unfamiliar. Gwen and Blake had opened their home to other pets, giving Betty companions during the later years of her remarkable life.

Keith Urban, 58, Breaks His Silence on Nicole Kidman’s New Romance — and His Reaction Is Not What Anyone Expected

The country crooner is facing renewed attention as Nicole Kidman’s dating rumors raise questions about how he really feels now that their marriage has ended.

Reports initially painted Keith Urban as deeply hurt by the possibility that the “Practical Magic” star had moved on. But people said to be close to the former couple are now offering a very different account.

What Had Been Wearing Urban Down Before the Marriage Ended

The Daily Mail reported on August 7, 2026, that sources close to Urban and Kidman challenged claims that he was “devastated” by rumors about her dating life.

Although Kidman filed for divorce, Urban was said to be the one who ended the marriage. One source pointed to the strain Urban had felt behind the scenes.

“Keith’s been unhappy for a long time,” the source said. “He didn’t want to be on another red carpet or have a staff full of people and be forced to wear designer [clothes]. He doesn’t care about any of that. That’s not who he is, and he’s been dealing with it for a long time.”

The source said Urban preferred to keep his focus on his work: “He just wants to make music and play music. The rest was all very complicated and outside of his comfort zone.”

How Kidman’s Dating Life Became Part of the Post-Split Tension

According to an insider, Kidman had privately been the angrier party after the marriage ended. Her decision to date again could actually “be a relief for [Urban],” the source said, because she might now “ease up a little.”

The source also claimed the tension had affected Urban’s time with their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

“She’s the one that’s mad at him. He is not getting to see his kids as much as he wants,” the insider said. “It’s basically an ‘if you want to see them come back home’ kinda thing.”

Another source said Kidman had already introduced their daughters to the man she was reportedly seeing. The group had lunch together, and the insider described the meeting as a success, saying Kidman was pleased that her daughters got along with him.

The source also said Sunday Rose was particularly happy about his ties to several fashion houses, which could potentially help her modeling ambitions. Urban’s alleged reaction came after Kidman was spotted at an Italian hotel in July, sharing a cheerful exchange with another man.

The Poolside Moments That Started the Conversation

The pair were seen at the Belmond Splendido Hotel, where Page Six photos showed Kidman relaxing on a daybed in a flowing white outfit, wide-brimmed hat and oversized sunglasses. She was seated beside a man in a private area overlooking the hotel pool.

In several photos, the pair were seen chatting, exchanging smiles, and looking toward one another during the outing. The candid moments offered a quieter glimpse of Kidman away from her recent public appearances.

A video shared by New Idea Magazine provided another perspective on the encounter. It showed Kidman reclining with her arms behind her head as the man leaned toward her while they spoke.

Additional footage and images show their conversation continuing, with the pair laughing at times and remaining together by the pool.

The Reactions the Photos Sparked Online

On Facebook, one netizen wrote, “Good on her, life goes on ❤️.” Another user commented, “She moved on fast 😊.” A third observed, “She is just trying to hurt Keith.”

Instagram users also weighed in. One commenter wrote, “Downgrade for sure 😂😂😂.” Someone else shared, “His body language says he’s really into her 😍.”

A different commenter simply posted, “Upgrade!!” while one person remarked, “He’s looking at her exactly like someone should look at Nicole Kidman, completely enraptured 😍.” Another added, “Love it when you find an even better person. Good for her.”

The Identity Behind the Poolside Photos

The man seen alongside Kidman is believed to be private equity businessman Michael Reinstein, 54, who has reportedly been seen with the actress before.

Unlike Kidman, Reinstein has largely stayed out of the public spotlight despite leading a global investment firm. He is the founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Regent, which he established in 2013.

According to the company’s website, Reinstein has led more than 45 acquisitions across the automotive, industrial, consumer, luxury, media, and technology sectors. The firm says it employs more than 40,000 people across 65 countries.

Before founding Regent, Reinstein worked in the Office of President Ronald Reagan. He later attended the University of Southern California and graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law.

While Reinstein has an Instagram account with more than 43,000 followers, the profile includes little information beyond his name and offers few insights into his personal life.

The Portofino sighting came as Kidman’s personal life continued to attract public attention following her January 2026 divorce from Urban, after they separated in June 2025. Amid the split, their daughters remained Kidman’s top priority.

Where Kidman’s Heart Truly Lies

As reported by Page Six, the actress was focused on a different chapter. A source told the outlet that the “Big Little Lies” star was fully focused on her family, spending significant time with her daughters and prioritizing home life.

“She loves family time,” another insider said, adding that Kidman felt “refreshed and optimistic” about the new year. The same publication revealed something else about her love life status.

According to them:

“She is not dating anyone, but she is a single woman.”

While Kidman may be embracing single life on her own terms, her ex-husband’s rumored new living arrangement previously sparked a whole new wave of headlines.

Country Crooner’s Alleged Swift Rebound Sparks Chatter

In recent months, rumors have linked Urban to 26-year-old Karley Scott Collins, with claims that the two are already living together.

A rising talent in the Nashville music scene, Collins has not only toured with Urban but also shared the stage and spotlight alongside him during several high-profile events.

The musician then invited Collins to support him on the High and Alive tour, which wrapped shortly after Urban’s split from Kidman was made public in September 2025.

Collins Gushes About Urban

Speculation around their relationship intensified after Collins, who is over 30 years Urban’s junior, posted a cozy photo of them on Instagram in July 2025.

In the image, they posed with their arms around each other and their heads resting together, a moment Collins captioned, “Somebody pinch me. I feel like I’m dreamin’.”

Then, in October, she shared a sweet birthday tribute to Urban. However, in her caption, she made the type of connection they share clear, penning, “feel so lucky to call you a friend!”

After announcing that Collins would be Urban’s supporting act on the tour, she stated, “It’s amazing being on the road with Keith. He’s an incredible entertainer, and I respect him so much… and I’ve learned a lot watching him.”

Additionally, the two later continued their musical collaborations that year, appearing together at the Lakefront Music Festival in Minnesota on July 11.

Daughters Allegedly Side with Kidman

Though neither party has confirmed the relationship, insiders are confident that it’s serious.

“I hear he [Urban] has someone, which is why the girls are publicly supporting Mom. People think they are even living together. Look, teen girls love their dads, so there’s a reason they’re making it three against one,” a source revealed.

Long known for her fiercely private nature, Kidman has surprised the public by suddenly becoming more visible, specifically, in ways that highlight her bond with her girls.

“Since the split, you are seeing her and the girls all the time, on her social media and in other photos,” the same insider noted. “They were with her in Paris and in Sydney. She posted pictures of them all taking part in a ‘turkey trot’ running race on Thanksgiving which is really unusual, she’s generally more private than that [sic].”

Reportedly, in one of her then-recent posts, the trio was seen standing arm in arm, gazing out at the Sydney Harbour fireworks. She captioned it simply, “Looking forward into 2026 xxx.”

Observers have also noted a shift in Kidman’s energy. Gone is the solemn expression she wore during Paris Fashion Week back in October.

An airport sighting in Nashville painted a very different picture, as the actress looked lighthearted, glowing even, her natural strawberry-blonde curls bouncing as she walked beside her daughters. It marked a dramatic change from her somber demeanor just months prior, when she admitted, “I’m hanging in there.”

As one columnist put it, “Nicole Kidman appears to be feeling herself a little more than usual lately. Her hair is curly, she’s [sic] been beaming. Is this the usual Kidman je ne sais quoi… or is there something else going on?”

The answer may lie not only in her renewed presence but in her deliberate emphasis on togetherness, especially after her divorce from Urban was finalized on January 6, exactly 15 weeks after their split was confirmed.

“Each time you see them they are linking arms or holding hands. It looks ‘us against the world [sic],'” the source shared. “I feel like with the pictures she is briefing against him, without briefing against him. It feels as if she is really mad at him and [sic] she is using the girls to show that he is in the doghouse.

Chris Watts, Serving Five Life Sentences for Killing His Family, May Marry Again — Meet His Alleged Bride-to-Be

A man who confessed to smothering his own daughters with their bedtime blankets is now filling out paperwork to become someone’s husband again.

For years, Chris Watts has written from a Wisconsin prison cell about forgiveness, faith, and starting over. Somewhere along the way, a woman on the outside decided she wanted to be part of that new chapter, name change and all.

Getting there means untangling a story that stretches from a quiet Colorado suburb to an oil field, then into stacks of handwritten letters and a growing list of pen pals. What she’s said about agreeing to marry him is only the latest twist.

The Suburban Life Before It Fell Apart

Chris and Shanann Watts once looked like any other young family in Frederick, Colorado. She ran a home-based weight-loss business and shared much of their daily life, including their two daughters, on her own Facebook page.

That footage, along with police bodycam recordings and interrogation-room audio, later formed the backbone of the Netflix documentary “American Murder: The Family Next Door.”

The film tells the story using no outside narrators, only the family’s own words and images. A memorial Instagram account set up after their deaths still posts photos and tributes to Shanann and her girls.

Colleagues Watched Him Unravel

By the summer of 2018, Watts was working as an oil field operator at Anadarko Petroleum while a pregnant Shanann managed their household and business from home. To the men he worked alongside, though, the easygoing father everyone knew seemed to be slipping.

Longtime contractor Brian Spence told People in a 2022 interview that Watts had grown noticeably withdrawn and irritable in the weeks leading up to the murders.

“Things changed; he changed,” Spence said, noting Watts had also stopped rushing home after his shifts, staying out with contractors at happy hour far past when the other family men called it a night.

Spence recalled Watts occasionally joking about women taking interest in him at work, though he brushed it off as harmless bragging at the time. “I didn’t know it was actually happening,” he admitted. “I thought it was just talk.”

What He Was Hiding at the Office

It wasn’t just talk. According to Watts’s own account in a redacted Colorado Bureau of Investigation interview transcript, he met coworker Nichol Kessinger at Anadarko in early June 2018 after bringing a broken gas meter to her for repair.

Kessinger, who spotted a photo of Shanann on his phone, knew from early on that he was married with children. Following a Watts family vacation to San Diego later that month, the two began meeting outside work, first at a Thornton, Colorado park, then almost every day through July.

While Shanann and the girls spent July in North Carolina, Watts stayed at Kessinger's house almost every night. He admitted feeling more in control with Kessinger, believing he could be himself without planning his words. | Source: Facebook/ShanannWatts

Watts told investigators he spent nearly the entire month sleeping at Kessinger’s house whenever Shanann and their daughters were out of town visiting relatives, using the empty house as an escape from thinking about his marriage.

He described feeling more like himself around Kessinger than he ever did with his own wife, saying the relationship gave him a sense of control he didn’t otherwise have. He also acknowledged letting Kessinger believe he and Shanann were already separated, a lie he never corrected.

The Last Words in the Master Bedroom

Shanann returned home from a business trip around 2 a.m. on August 13, 2018. The couple had sex before falling asleep, and when Watts woke for work that morning, he climbed back into bed to talk to her, straddling her on the mattress.

He told her their marriage wasn’t working and that he had fallen out of love with her. Shanann, sensing there was someone else, began to cry and confronted him directly.

“You’re never gonna see the kids again…you’re never gonna see them again…get off me…don’t hurt the baby,” she reportedly told him, according to the same transcript, moments before he wrapped both hands around her neck.

Watts told investigators she never screamed or fought back, and that he now believes she may have been silently praying as he strangled her, a detail he shared in a separate CBI report later obtained by People.

The Drive to the Oil Field

Four-year-old Bella wandered into the bedroom afterward, asking her father what was wrong with her mother. He told her Shanann “didn’t feel good,” then dragged his wife’s body down the staircase in front of both daughters, who kept asking what was happening.

He loaded Shanann into his truck, then buckled Bella and three-year-old Celeste into the back seat, each clutching a blanket from home; Celeste also brought along a small stuffed dog. Partway through the roughly 45-minute drive to a remote oil site, Bella told her father the truck “smells.”

During the drive, the young girls dozed off, held each other, and lay in each other’s laps. At the site, Watts pulled his wife’s body from the vehicle while his daughters, still watching from the back seat, asked what he was doing to their mother.

He buried her in a shallow grave before turning his attention to his youngest daughter. He used a blue Yankees blanket to smother three-year-old Celeste right beside her sister, who sat inches away, silent the entire time.

The Two Words She Screamed

When Watts returned to the truck afterward, Bella asked what had happened to her sister, then quietly asked if the same thing was going to happen to her. Watts later told investigators he wasn’t certain how he answered.

He covered Bella with the same blanket and began smothering her as he had Celeste. This time, she fought back with two words that would become the last anyone ever heard from her: “Daddy, No!”

Watts then dropped both girls’ bodies into separate oil tanks on the property before returning home, disposing of his clothes and the blanket in a neighbor’s dumpster, and reporting his family missing. He appeared on local news pleading for help finding them before investigators zeroed in on him as their killer.

Nine Guilty Pleas, Five Life Sentences

Prosecutors formally charged Watts on August 20, 2018, with five counts of first-degree murder, one count of unlawfully terminating a pregnancy, and three counts of tampering with a body.

On November 6, 2018, he pleaded guilty to all nine counts under an agreement, reached with input from Shanann’s family, that removed the death penalty as a possible sentence, according to records from the Colorado district attorney’s office.

A judge sentenced Watts on November 19, 2018, to five consecutive life terms without parole. He was later moved out of state to Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin.

Behind Bars, a New Identity

During a five-hour interview with Colorado investigators on February 18, 2019, later reported on by People, Watts said he keeps photographs of his wife and daughters inside his cell and talks to them every morning and night.

He also described reading his daughters’ favorite bedtime book aloud to their photos, along with scripture, each evening. A family friend identified only as Kim told People that same year that Watts spends much of his limited time outside his cell replaying the past.

“He’s sad that everyone is hurting,” Kim said. “He wishes he could go back in time. He wish he had handled things differently.” By 2025, Watts was casting himself as a fully reformed man.

In letters obtained by the Daily Mail, he wrote that he had been forgiven and was no longer “the person who committed those horrible acts,” describing himself instead as “a new creature.”

He has also used his letters to repeatedly pin blame on Kessinger, referring to her as a “harlot” and “Jezebel” who led him astray. Kessinger, who was never charged in connection with the murders, has since legally changed her name and doesn’t respond to requests for comment.

Writing Letters From Cell 14

Reinvention hasn’t slowed his correspondence with women on the outside. Prison records reviewed by the Daily Mail show Watts regularly exchanges letters with roughly a dozen female admirers, several of whom have added money to his commissary account, funds he reportedly spends mostly on paper and postage stamps.

One of them, a 36-year-old Colorado woman named Deborah, first wrote to Watts in late 2022 after seeing him on the news, and was surprised when he wrote back. Over three years, he repeatedly compared his imprisonment to the suffering of Jesus, telling her in one letter that “God had a plan for me… He wants me in prison,” according to correspondence shared with the Daily Mail.

By late 2025, he’d grown noticeably more religious and less interested romantically, eventually telling Deborah they couldn’t continue and that “God has other plans” for him.

And this photo, which the actress posted on social media, depicts a face that was clearly meant to be seen on a big screen. | Source: Instagram/deborahlforeman

Although her big break on the screen was a romantic story, she eventually would become a star in the world of horror, which she enjoyed as a kid who would cover up with blankets. | Source: YouTube/Movieclips

Prince Harry’s Return to the U.K. Is Called the ‘Best Opportunity’ to Heal His Rift with William — and One Family Member May Hold the Key

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are bringing their children back to Britain after six years in California, but the biggest consequence of the move may have little to do with where the family lives. For the first time in years, Harry could be close enough to his estranged brother for a reconciliation to become possible.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to make Britain their family’s base for an extended stay, with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, expected to begin school there in September, according to PEOPLE.

The couple is expected to set up a private home rather than return to royal property or official duties. Their California life is not disappearing either: They plan to keep their Montecito home and vacation property in Portugal.

For Harry and Meghan, it marks a significant shift from the life they built in California after leaving their roles as working royals in 2020. But this is a relocation, not a return to royal service.

The Family Is Returning on Its Own Terms

According to PEOPLE, Harry will remain a private individual and will not return to official royal duties. The same applies to Meghan, in keeping with the arrangement reached when they stepped back from royal life.

Their children, however, are expected to spend their school years in Britain, giving the family a much closer connection to Harry’s home country than they have had since moving to the United States.

That proximity could prove significant for another reason.

Harry and William Still Have a Long Way to Go

Harry’s relationship with his older brother, Prince William, remains deeply strained after years of public and private conflict. The rift intensified following Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal duties, and later widened through their interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Harry & Meghan Netflix series and Harry’s memoir, Spare.

For all the attention surrounding Harry’s improved relationship with his father, there has reportedly been little movement between the brothers. “I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest. But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side,” a close source told PEOPLE in July. The same source described the brothers’ relationship as distant, with “no contact.”

But Harry’s return to Britain could change the circumstances around that silence.

Why Being Back in Britain Could Change Everything for the Brothers

A source familiar with the family dynamic told PEOPLE that Harry’s physical return to Britain could give him and William their “best opportunity” yet to repair their relationship. “It would never happen with him in America,” the source says. “This gives them opportunity to try and mend that bridge.”

Being back in the country could also naturally create more chances for the brothers to cross paths, “whether they want it or not,” according to the source.

That does not mean a reconciliation is guaranteed. But after years of geographical distance, Harry will now be much closer to the family he left behind.

The Family Member Who Could Help Bring Them Together

There may also be someone who could help make those encounters less difficult. PEOPLE’s source suggested that Catherine, Princess of Wales, could potentially play a role in encouraging the brothers to repair their relationship.

“Catherine may step into that breach and try to help, too, because she knows how important family is and how important Harry is to William,” the source says. “She would want to see that healed, as any wife would. This gives them opportunity to try and mend that bridge.”

The comments do not indicate that Catherine has agreed to act as a mediator, but they suggest that she could become an important bridge if the family decides to pursue reconciliation.

The source also suggested Meghan may initially keep a relatively low profile as the family settles into life in Britain, although the public may eventually expect to see Harry and Meghan together. “I think they should tread a little carefully, and I think they will,” the source adds.

Harry’s relationship with William may still be frozen, but his relationship with their father appears to have taken a different turn.

While William Remains Distant, Harry and Charles Have Grown Closer

The current move comes only weeks after Harry and Meghan had a rare private reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. According to PEOPLE, the meeting was particularly significant because it marked the first time Charles had seen Archie and Lili in more than four years.

It was also only the third meeting between Harry and his father since Charles’ 2024 cancer diagnosis. The reunion appears to have marked a turning point in their relationship. A source close to Harry described his relationship with Charles as “better,” despite the years of tension between them.

That history makes the King’s reaction to the new relocation especially interesting.

Charles Knew About the Move Before the Public Did

Charles was made aware of Harry and Meghan’s plans to relocate to Britain on Sunday, PEOPLE understands, just days before the move became public. Rather than objecting to the decision, the King reportedly welcomed the opportunity to spend more time with Harry, Meghan and his grandchildren in a private, personal capacity.

The timing is notable because Harry and Meghan had apparently been considering the relocation for weeks or months. Yet their July meeting with Charles and Camilla took place without the couple publicly revealing their plans.

PEOPLE reports that Charles is clear that the move will not change Harry and Meghan’s status as private, non-working members of the Royal Family.

But the King reportedly sees an upside to having his son and grandchildren closer. “He will want to see his sons together over time,” PEOPLE’s source says of the King. “This is the best opportunity we have seen in recent years.”

The same source described the development as potentially “the start of a really positive chapter” for the family.

Harry’s Return Comes After Years of Security Battles

The idea of Prince Harry bringing his wife and children back to Britain would have seemed far less likely only a year ago. Security has long been one of the biggest obstacles to the Sussexes spending significant time in the U.K. After stepping back from royal duties, Harry and Meghan lost their automatic state-funded police protection.

Harry repeatedly argued that the change made it unsafe for his family to return. In May 2025, after losing his legal challenge over his security arrangements, Harry told the BBC, “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”

At the time, he also made clear that the security dispute was intertwined with the wider family conflict. “This, at the heart of it, is a family dispute,” Harry said, adding that the situation made him “really, really sad.”

Yet even during that emotional interview, Harry said he wanted to repair his relationship with his family. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious,” he said.

He also said he loved Britain and was saddened by the possibility that he might not be able to show his children his homeland.

The Return Harry Once Said Was Impossible Is Now Happening

The decision to bring his family back suggests that Harry’s connection to Britain may have remained stronger than his life in California sometimes suggested. The security issue has not disappeared from the story, and the exact arrangements surrounding the family’s return remain private.

But the decision itself suggests that something has shifted — not only in Harry’s relationship with Britain, but potentially in his relationship with his father.

An insider who knows Harry recently told PEOPLE that he has “always had one foot” in Britain. “He’s never lived a life here where he hasn’t been entangled in his past life,” the insider said.

Prince George’s Solemn Look at Crathie Kirk Service Sparks Reactions as Royal Family Gathers Near Balmoral — Photos

The Wales family stepped out together this weekend, and cameras caught a moment fans haven’t stopped talking about since.

King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three children for their regular Sunday worship near the family’s Scottish estate. Princess Anne and Prince Edward rounded out the gathering, but one young royal in particular drew everyone’s attention.

The outing landed just weeks before George trades his school uniform for one steeped in centuries of tradition. It also unfolded against the backdrop of fresh royal headlines that had nothing to do with him at all.

A Family Gathering at Crathie Kirk

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, the extended royal family made their way to the small Church of Scotland parish kirk that sits near the Balmoral estate. It’s the same modest church where Queen Elizabeth II worshipped for decades whenever she was in residence.

Charles and Camilla traveled in the first car. William drove the second, carrying Kate and their three children behind him.

Both William and his eldest son wore matching suits for the occasion, a small detail that didn’t go unnoticed once the photos began circulating.

Cameras Catch Prince George’s Serious Expression

It’s George’s face, not his father’s driving or the church’s history, that turned this routine outing into a talking point. Photos from inside the car show the future king staring ahead with a notably solemn expression, his jaw set and his eyes fixed somewhere off-camera.

The images spread quickly once they hit social media, where they became the centerpiece of the entire story. Commenters wasted no time weighing in on what they saw. One X user wrote simply, “George looks worried.”

Another was more sympathetic to the pressure George faces every time a camera is pointed his way, writing“The kids always look a little scared in front of the press. I wish they would back off.”

On Facebook, the reactions leaned even more pointed. “George looks apprehensive as well he might! Many jealous Uncles in history!” one commenter suggested, while another added a blunter observation: “He never smiles.”

Whether the 13-year-old’s expression reflects anything more than an ordinary Sunday mood is impossible to say from a photograph alone. But the timing hasn’t helped quiet the speculation.

Major Life Changes Looming

George’s next chapter is already set. Kensington Palace confirmed in July that “Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September,” William’s office said in a statement, with the storied all-boys school near Windsor Castle.

The prestigious institution charges roughly $85,000 a year and has produced 20 British prime ministers, including Boris Johnson and David Cameron.

George currently attends the private Lambrook School alongside his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Eton will be a considerable shift: unlike Lambrook, it’s a full boarding school with no day pupils, meaning George will only come home on weekends and holidays.

He won’t be sharing a room, though. Eton’s policy guarantees every boy his own study-bedroom from day one, a rule designed to build independence and self-discipline rather than foster shared dormitory life.

The school has also taken visible steps to shield its newest arrival from public view. Fresh photos from outside the campus show new “No photography” signs recently installed along the fences, aimed at keeping media and members of the public from crowding pupils.

That kind of protection isn’t new for a royal at Eton. When William enrolled, the press agreed to leave him alone in exchange for occasional arranged photo opportunities, a trade-off William later said let him experience something close to a normal student life.

Before any of that, though, George faces a rite of passage nearly every Eton boy dreads. Royal historian Hugo Vickers, an Old Etonian himself, described in a piece for the Times how new boys are grilled by older students with almost no time to prepare.

George’s version will be the “colours test,” which requires memorizing the location of school buildings and the official colors of all 25 boarding houses.

Vickers also noted that some of the harsher traditions of his own era, like fagging and caning, are long gone. What remains is the uniform itself: morning tails, a stiff collar, and a curious button-covering tie worn in honor of George III, the king whose name George shares.

The church visit also comes just as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced plans to move back to the U.K., adding another layer to an already eventful stretch for the family.

Doria Ragland, 70, Spotted Alone Outside Her California Home as Fans Question Meghan Markle

The quiet photographs showed little more than a woman tending to her home, but their timing carried an emotional weight that was impossible for some viewers to overlook.

Doria Ragland was seen outside her California property on September 2, 2026, shortly after Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet left for an extended stay in the United Kingdom. Nothing about the scene appeared unusual at first, until one deeply personal detail turned those ordinary images into a painful-looking family moment.

A Peaceful Morning Carried a Hidden Significance

Doria stepped outside wearing a simple white T-shirt and pajama pants, with her hair pulled into a bun. She collected her mail, walked casually around the property, and stopped to pull several weeds.

There was no visible crowd around her and no grand occasion unfolding in front of the cameras. She simply appeared relaxed at home, taking care of small chores during an otherwise quiet morning.

But September 2 was not an ordinary day for Doria. It was her 70th birthday.

The milestone arrived only about a week after Meghan and Harry moved back to the UK with seven-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet. While Doria entered a new decade of her life in California, her only daughter and both grandchildren were thousands of miles away.

That distance gave the photographs an unexpectedly lonely quality for some viewers. A woman gathering her mail and tending her garden suddenly looked like a mother spending an important birthday without the people closest to her.

Photographs can only capture a few isolated moments, of course. They cannot show private phone calls, earlier celebrations, gifts delivered behind closed doors, or plans that were never shared publicly.

Still, the timing was enough to turn attention toward Meghan.

Social media users immediately began criticizing Meghan Markle over her absence. At this event, she arrived with Prince Harry and Doria Ragland for the "Woman of Vision Awards" at Ziegfeld Ballroom on May 16, 2023, in New York City, New York. | Source: Getty Images

The Family’s Departure Sparked Painful Questions

Doria has long been seen as a steady and trusted presence in Meghan’s life. Because of that bond, some people struggled to understand why Meghan would leave the country so close to her mother’s milestone birthday.

The criticism was not simply about an international move. It centered on the possibility that Doria had been left behind during a moment many families would make every effort to celebrate together.

One commenter beneath the Facebook photographs questioned both the timing and Meghan’s decision not to bring Doria along:

“So that’s a bit odd!! Why would someone who is allegedly do close to their mum, leave the country a week before a big birthday like that…you’d have thought they have brought her at least for a week or 2 for her birthday or waited until she’d had her birthday.. [sic].”

Another commenter responded with a short but cutting question: “Wonder if she sent her a card.”

Those reactions reflected how emotionally loaded the images had become. Doria was not photographed looking distressed, yet the sight of her alone outside the home encouraged strangers to imagine what might have happened away from the cameras.

Others refused to assume that Meghan had neglected her mother. One person pointed out that the family could have celebrated privately before the move, or that Doria may simply have preferred to remain home.

“Doria is 70, perhaps her birthday is not a big deal to her. Or perhaps they celebrated earlier. Or perhaps it was her choice to stay right where she lives.”

There is no public confirmation that Meghan missed the celebration entirely or failed to acknowledge the occasion. The photographs show only Doria’s quiet walk outside, not everything that happened on her birthday.

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s sudden decision to move back to the United Kingdom is attracting all kinds of attention. So every private moment within the extended family is being scrutinized thoroughly, especially as Meghan is believed to be on the verge of a personal comeback that essentially reverses another choice she made years ago.

She is reportedly in early talks for a role in Season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix crime drama “The Gentlemen,” which is filmed in the United Kingdom. The series follows an aristocratic family whose grand surroundings conceal a rather less respectable connection to a drug empire.

Yes, the former “Suits” actress who married a prince could potentially appear in a show about aristocrats with scandalous complications. The casting possibilities are almost cheeky enough to write themselves.

Nothing has been finalized. Reports briefly claimed the deal had already collapsed, but People reported that negotiations remain active.

The opportunity is not a whimsical idea that appeared after the moving arrangements began. Insiders said Harry and Meghan had been discussing her possible return to acting before the project emerged, and the role helped other pieces of their British plans fall into place.

It would be Meghan’s most significant acting job since she left “Suits.” It would also reverse a position she expressed with impressive certainty in 2022. Asked whether she intended to act again, Meghan replied, “I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.

Four years later, “never say never” may have been the most important part of that answer.

Meghan’s post-royal entertainment career has already included striking victories and public setbacks. The Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan” became a major release, while the couple’s partnership with Spotify ended after just one season of Meghan’s podcast.

Now she could return to the profession she left behind in the same country where her royal chapter began and then fell apart so painfullyBut things are much different for the Sussexes now.

The Palace Cannot Edit Meghan’s New Script

Meghan and Harry are coming back to Britain under radically changed conditions from those they experienced as working royals. They now have their own careers, staff, commercial interests, and support network, without palace officials approving their interviews, appearances, Instagram activity, or professional deals.

That independence, particularly for Meghan, has already prompted questions about how comfortably Buckingham Palace will coexist with a duchess who can announce projects whenever she pleases.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News that the institution’s “nightmare” is its inability to control the Sussexes. Because official royal schedules are arranged far in advance, he predicted that overlapping engagements could leave palace appearances competing with whatever Harry and Meghan choose to unveil.

Kinsey Schofield, host of “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered,” explained that the couple can operate independently while still attracting enormous interest because Harry remains the King’s son and Meghan retains the Duchess of Sussex title.

Buckingham Palace does possess one powerful card. It can determine their access to official occasions, royal residences, and working family members. “Meghan may be returning without palace restrictions, but she is also returning without palace protection,” Kinsey said. “You don’t get one without losing the other.”

She also noted that one competing announcement would not necessarily violate any written rule. However, repeatedly releasing news alongside important royal engagements would be noticed, and a recognizable habit of overshadowing the working royals could quickly become its own controversy.

That tension echoes the late Queen Elizabeth II’s decision to reject the “half-in, half-out” model in 2020. Harry and Meghan were not permitted to perform selected royal duties while pursuing financial independence and retaining all the advantages attached to official status.

Old Wounds Did Not Vanish at Customs

Additionally, Meghan has previously said that life as a working royal left her so isolated and unhappy that she experienced suicidal thoughts. One source close to her admitted that the intense British media attention remains their “biggest concern” and said, “I’m worried for her.”

An ally nevertheless insisted that returning does not mean recreating the same conditions. Another source said the couple’s network is “stronger now than it ever was to protect her, to protect them.”

Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner believes Meghan may initially adopt a restrained approach. He predicted she would present herself with “decorum, style and elegance” while trying to prove that she could still become an asset to the royal family.

Trust, however, cannot be repaired with a polished entrance and a perfectly timed smile. Harry and Meghan discussed their experiences in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the 2022 series “Harry & Meghan,” and Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare.”

Kinsey argued that those disclosures created a “significant trust deficit” inside palace walls. British broadcaster Helena Chard suggested Charles and Prince William, 44, may need to establish firm “dos and don’ts” governing the Sussexes’ access to official engagements and working royals.

As Meghan and Harry face old questions of trust in Britain, Doria’s quiet appearance in California on her 70th birthday remains a reminder of what her family’s move left behind.

Meghan Markle Breaks Her Silence Days After Reports of UK Return With a Telling Post on Her As Ever Brand’s Page

Meghan Markle has broken her silence days after reports emerged that she and Prince Harry have returned to the UK, but her first apparent response came in an unexpected place.

Rather than turning to her personal Instagram account, the Duchess of Sussex used the page for her lifestyle brand, As Ever, to make a new announcement.

Meghan’s Latest Update Is All About Wine

Meghan’s post centered on a new addition to As Ever’s growing collection: a Reserve Brut sparkling wine. According to the brand’s Instagram announcement, the sparkling wine was crafted using the traditional Méthode Champenoise and sourced from Napa Valley.

As Ever presented the wine as being made for “gathering, toasting, and savoring life’s beautiful moments.” The Reserve Brut was announced for release September 3 through Wine.AsEver.com.

The launch fits the direction Meghan has been taking As Ever since the brand was introduced in 2025, with the company gradually expanding from its initial food offerings into wine and other lifestyle products. But the latest release also has a longer history than the announcement itself suggests.

How Meghan Turned As Ever Into Her Lifestyle Brand

Meghan launched As Ever in 2025 after moving away from the American Riviera Orchard name. In February, Meghan introduced the As Ever name, explaining that she had secured the name in 2022 and that it allowed her to build a business around the interests she had cultivated since her days with The Tig.

She explained that American Riviera Orchard had initially seemed like a natural fit because it referenced Santa Barbara, but she eventually realized that the name limited the business to products manufactured and grown in that area.

Netflix then became involved not only as a partner on her series but also as a partner in her business, a development Meghan described as huge.

In the accompanying video, she said she was shocked that she had kept the project secret for so long. She also explained that cooking, crafting, and gardening had always been passions of hers, but that she had not been able to share them with audiences in the same way for several years.

Now, she said, she could. The brand was also unmistakably tied to one particular product category from the beginning: jam. Meghan promised fruit preserves among As Ever’s offerings, joking, “jam is my jam,” while saying there were many other products she loved and used at home that she wanted to share.

That strategy appeared to pay off, with multiple As Ever product drops reportedly selling out within hours during the brand’s first year.

The Wine Expansion Started With a Sellout

The Reserve Brut is not Meghan’s first As Ever wine. In July 2025, she debuted the brand’s first wine, a 2023 Napa Valley Rosé. The proprietary As Ever blend contained Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah. The rosé was priced at $30 per bottle, with customers also able to buy three bottles for $90, half cases for $159, or full cases for $300.

It was a swift success, selling out before noon on launch day. The July 1 release also carried a personal significance, as the date would have been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday and marked the day in 2016 when Meghan and Harry first began speaking.

As Ever had already indicated that a Napa Valley sparkling wine made using the Méthode Champenoise would follow, making the Reserve Brut the next step in the collection rather than an entirely new direction.

Meghan had similarly celebrated the response to As Ever’s second product drop in June 2025, which featured a new apricot spread alongside crepe mix, teas, and flower sprinkles.

At the time, she said in an Instagram Story, “We’re nearly sold out on everything, and I can’t believe it.”

So there was nothing particularly surprising about As Ever adding another wine. The more complicated question is what happens to a California-focused business if its founder is now reportedly spending more time in Britain.

As Ever Has One Big Problem in Britain

According to an April report from OK!, As Ever has remained deliberately focused on the U.S. market. The brand’s shipping has been limited to all 50 U.S. states, leaving British customers unable to buy its products directly.

A source familiar with the brand’s positioning told the outlet that the decision was based on where Meghan’s commercial appeal was strongest. While she has a highly engaged audience in the U.S., the source said the reaction in Britain was much more mixed.

Another source described a UK expansion as a significant commercial risk, citing unpredictable consumer sentiment and fierce competition. They also pointed to the lingering reaction to Meghan and Harry’s move to the United States, claiming Meghan is disliked in parts of Britain for having “taking away” Prince Harry to the States.

A brand and marketing expert similarly said the UK “simply isn’t a priority market for As Ever right now,” arguing that recognition does not necessarily translate into the same purchasing enthusiasm or spending power the brand enjoys in America.

The expert also questioned whether some of As Ever’s more niche lifestyle products, including flower sprinkles, would fit British tastes. The UK market is already crowded with celebrity-backed products, particularly in categories such as rosé wine, where names including Kylie Minogue are well established.

Another source pointed to a cultural divide, saying products that feel exciting or aspirational to American consumers do not necessarily have the same appeal in Britain.

They added that British shopping habits are different and that the crowded celebrity-brand market would make it harder for As Ever to generate the kind of demand needed to justify a major UK launch. Despite all of that, sources told OK! that Meghan remains intent on taking As Ever global.

Meghan Could Be Taking California Cool Across the Pond

The potential difficulty of that strategy was highlighted again in August. Royal commentator Christine Ross told WWD that moving abroad and uprooting a young family was “a huge decision,” suggesting that professional opportunities must have been part of the calculation.

Ross also pointed out that As Ever had been built around a “very California-cool vibe,” meaning that recreating the brand while extending it to Meghan’s British lifestyle could be tricky.

There is a particularly striking practical issue: As Ever does not currently ship to the United Kingdom. While Meghan previously leaned into British designers during her years as a working royal, Ross expects her to continue using many of her preferred brands while incorporating British designs largely for practical reasons such as shipping and customs.

Her clothing choices could also have a commercial effect. Ross said Meghan’s fashion still commands significant respect and that many pieces sell out after she wears them.

She expects that trend to continue, potentially benefiting British brands through the “Meghan Effect.” Against that backdrop, Meghan’s latest As Ever post looks like business as usual.

Except for one detail.

The Words That Suddenly Sound Different

The first line of the new As Ever post reads:

“A new chapter to celebrate.”

For a wine launch, it is perfectly plausible marketing language. But Meghan has used the same idea before, and that is where the timing becomes difficult to ignore.

When she introduced As Ever in February 2025, Meghan called the rebrand “a new chapter” and described the company as an extension of what had always been her love language: food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.

That original “new chapter” was clearly about the evolution of her business. This time, however, the phrase appears just days after reports that Meghan and Harry have returned to Britain. The post itself does not say Meghan is referring to her personal life, and there is no explicit announcement about the family’s plans. The subject remains a sparkling wine from Napa Valley.

Still, the timing gives the phrase an intriguing second reading. Is Meghan simply celebrating another chapter for As Ever—or does “a new chapter” happen to describe more than the latest addition to her wine collection?

The Reported UK Return May Be About More Than Home

As we previously reported, Meghan’s return to Britain has been accompanied by reports that she intends to continue building As Ever from a UK base while pursuing other professional opportunities.

Harry and Meghan are expected to create a private home base outside London, although they have not purchased a British property. Their $14 million estate in Montecito, California, remains home, while their vacation property in Portugal is also staying firmly in the family portfolio.

In other words, this is not a dramatic removal van moment with every teacup headed across the Atlantic. The arrangement remains flexible, and one insider cautioned that it is “not necessarily a forever thing.”

The couple will continue as private, nonworking members of the royal family under the agreement reached when they stepped away from official duties in 2020. King Charles III, 77, has reportedly made it clear that their status is not changing simply because they are living closer to Buckingham Palace.

Even so, the relocation represents quite the reversal. Harry told the BBC in May 2025, “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”

That world apparently arrived much sooner than expected. According to People, the move had been developing for roughly a year rather than being hastily arranged. “Step by step, they want to be in the U.K.,” a source close to Harry said. “They want to have the time and give the kids the opportunity to be here.”

Harry had even sounded out British singer Joss Stone about her family’s experience of returning from Tennessee. After speaking with him at the WellChild Awards in September 2025, Joss said he appeared especially interested in British schools and the value of community for children.

Those questions look considerably less casual now.

Harry Never Quite Stopped Looking Back

California gave Harry and Meghan the privacy, distance, and room they wanted while Archie and Lilibet were small. It also allowed Meghan to develop her As ever business, which has further product launches planned.

Yet sources in California said Harry struggled to build a tight social circle of his own in Montecito. Britain still held the old friends and familiar community he could not fully replace, no matter how sunny the weather or enviable the estate.

“Harry never really stopped missing home,” a source close to the couple said. “He’s missed that sense of connection and belonging. Britain is still home in many ways.”

His remaining patronages also require time in the country. Preparations are underway for the Invictus Games in Birmingham in July 2027, and one source predicted Harry would be “in the weeds on it every day.”

The children were another powerful consideration. Meghan reportedly feels fortunate that Archie and Lilibet can experience life in both California and Britain rather than having to belong exclusively to one world.

Archie and Lilibet’s school enrollment has already set off its own commotion on the ground. According to a new report, Royal Commentator Kinsey Schofield revealed that school officials in the Cotswolds sent warning letters to local parents ahead of the new term, outlining strict expectations tied to the arrival of high-profile families.

The central demand was striking: “It then reminded parents and carers not to photograph or film other children without permission, or share photographs, information or details about pupils or their families on social media,” Schofield shared.

The letter also told families that the school aims to give every child a “safe, happy and private environment,” and noted that certain new families may attract “a greater level of public or media interest.”

Page Six did not name the school that sent the letter, and reported that Archie and Lilibet actually attend a different school from the one that issued it — but the letters alone signal just how much the Sussex children’s presence is already reshaping daily life for families in their new community.

Their July 2026 visit offered a preview. Archie and Lilibet reunited with Charles at Highgrove before visiting Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place, with Charles Spencer, Cat Jarman, and several relatives from Diana’s side of the family.

Harry reportedly wants his children to understand his upbringing and their family history. For a father who lost his mother at 12, allowing them to know Diana’s roots carries an importance that no glossy California childhood could quite duplicate.

The reunion at Highgrove was also the first time Charles had seen Archie and Lilibet in more than four years. An ally of the couple called it “a real positive,” and the King’s continuing cancer treatment makes the sudden reduction in distance especially meaningful.

Still, family connections and school plans explain only part of the timing. Meghan has something else under discussion, and it could place her in front of cameras in Britain for a reason that has absolutely nothing to do with royal walkabouts.

Meghan May Be Ready to Say Yes to Hollywood Again

Meghan is in early talks for a role in Season 3 of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix crime drama “The Gentlemen,” which films in the United Kingdom.

Kinsey argued that those disclosures created a “significant trust deficit” inside palace walls. British broadcaster Helena Chard suggested Charles and Prince William, 44, may need to establish firm “dos and don’ts” governing the Sussexes’ access to official engagements and working royals.

Meanwhile, Harry also returns with his security dispute unresolved. After losing automatic taxpayer-funded police protection in 2020, he repeatedly maintained that Britain was unsafe for Meghan and their children because private guards in the country cannot legally carry firearms.

He reportedly intends to keep fighting for police protection. The result of that battle could determine how long the Sussexes remain in Britain.

His conflict with the British press is equally lively. On August 21, 2026, Harry, Elton John, and five other claimants were ordered to contribute approximately $13 million toward the Daily Mail publisher’s legal expenses after losing their privacy case.

The group could face costs reaching $47 million while considering an appeal. Harry may have missed Britain, but Britain certainly kept his legal paperwork warm. Still, there’s silver lining in all of this: possibly getting the royal family back together.

Charles Sees Hope, While William Keeps His Distance

Charles learned of the family’s relocation only days before it became public, a revealing sign that the improved relationship between father and son still has limits. Nevertheless, a royal household source said, “The King would love to have Harry around.”

Charles may also hope that proximity eventually helps his sons. In “Spare,” Harry recalled his father pleading with him and William after Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, “Please, boys, don’t make my final years a misery.”

A source said Charles still wants to see his sons together over time and described the return as the best chance for progress in years. Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet will no longer be an ocean away, removing one of the easiest excuses for continued separation.

Unfortunately, William appears far less eager. Sources said the brothers remain in “no contact,” while William has shown no public indication that he is ready to reconsider.

When the Sussexes’ plans became known, William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 44, were at Balmoral with Charles and other relatives. They made no public acknowledgment of the announcement.

Their priorities remain Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, along with Catherine’s continuing recovery from cancer and the couple’s increasing royal workload. George is also preparing to begin boarding school at Eton College in September.

Still, Harry’s physical presence makes the estrangement harder to tuck neatly out of sight. A source predicted the royals would find it difficult to ignore the Sussexes, particularly Archie and Lilibet.

The same uncomfortable closeness could bring Meghan and Catherine into overlapping social or family spaces. No apology appears to have satisfied either side, and living in one country cannot magically erase the pain of the past few years.

It does, however, put Charles’s two sons and all five grandchildren within reach. Whether that leads to reconciliation remains uncertain, but they will finally be close enough to test the possibility.

Meghan, meanwhile, is returning with no palace role and no intention of surrendering control of her public life. If negotiations for “The Gentlemen” produce a deal, her British homecoming will come with a deliciously unexpected twist: the duchess may be back, but this time she could be following a script entirely of her own choosing.
