Zendaya’s Mom Reacts to the News of Her Daughter Getting Married

The internet thought it had cracked the case on the Hollywood couple’s relationship. Then the actress’s mom stepped in with a tiny but very telling reaction.

Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman has spent years carefully separating her public career from her private life, including her relationship with Tom Holland. Despite global fame, the actress rarely discusses personal matters publicly.

The actress was born September 1, 1996, to dad Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and mom Claire Stoermer.

Although she is their only child together, she also has five older stepsiblings from her father’s previous marriage, including sisters Katianna, Annabella, and Kaylee, and brothers Austin and Julien, according to People.

Zendaya has also previously explained that her family tends to keep personal matters private. Her relationship with Tom has largely followed that same pattern.

A Proposal at Home

According to People, Tom proposed to Zendaya in December 2024 at one of her family’s homes.

Weeks before the engagement became public, Tom had mentioned on the Dish podcast that he planned to spend Christmas with his “girlfriend’s family.”

Even after the proposal, the couple did not publicly share many details.

The Interview That Sparked Wedding Talk

Then, a recent red-carpet interview at the just-concluded Actor Awards sparked unexpected speculation. Zendaya’s longtime stylist, Law Roach, was asked about the actress’s future wedding looks during a conversation about their close working relationship.

The interviewer said, “You and Zendaya have the relationship every stylist and every celebrity would love to have. We know she’s gonna be getting married.”

The interviewer further asked, “Are we thinking about the looks already for the wedding? Do you come to her and say, ‘hey, Zendaya, I think, or does she say, this is the bride I want to look for?'” Law’s answer was unexpected:

“Y’all, the wedding already happened, y’all missed it […] The wedding’s over, sorry. But no, what I’m thinking about is all the movies that she has coming out.”

He continued explaining that his focus is on Zendaya’s upcoming film premieres and fashion projects.

A Detail Noticed Days Earlier

Shortly before the celebrity stylist’s comment circulated, another detail surfaced. According to People, Tom had been seen without a wedding band three days earlier.

The timing quickly became part of the ongoing conversation surrounding Roach’s remark.

Claire Stoermer’s Cryptic Reaction

Amid the speculation, Zendaya’s mother appeared to respond in a very subtle way.

Claire Stoermer reportedly reposted a video of Law’s interview to her Instagram Stories. Alongside the clip, she wrote“The laugh…” The Story has since been deleted.

According to TMZ, Claire’s caption referenced the moment in the interview when her daughter’s longtime stylist laughed while remarking on the wedding.

Claire’s brief caption did not clarify whether the stylist’s comment was meant seriously or as a joke. Instead, it highlighted the moment itself, “the laugh,” without adding further explanation.

For now, neither Zendaya nor Tom has publicly addressed Law’s statement. And with Claire’s short-lived Instagram reaction now gone, the moment remains an intriguing footnote in a story that still has more questions than answers.

Of course, the wedding chatter didn’t appear out of nowhere — it traces back to the quietly revealed engagement that first set the stage for everything that followed.

How the Engagement Was First Revealed

In January 2025, TMZ reported that Zendaya and Holland had taken the next step.

Sources close to the couple told the outlet that the “Spider-Man” actor proposed between Christmas and New Year’s at one of Zendaya’s family homes in the United States.

The setting was described as intimate rather than extravagant. It wasn’t a staged spectacle, but a private moment shared between the two of them. Still, it wasn’t spontaneous.

The Planning Behind the Proposal

Shortly after the news broke, Tom’s father offered rare confirmation. In a Patreon post later cited in January 2025, Dominic Holland described how carefully his son had planned the proposal.

“Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared,” he wrote. “He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”

Dominic also addressed the realities of their combined fame. He acknowledged the attention that comes with it and said he believes the couple will continue to handle it thoughtfully.

“I am completely confident they will make a successful union,” he said.

The report further noted that the actors, who got matching tattoos before their engagement, were not expected to move quickly toward the next milestone.

“They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” an insider said. “They are both busy with work projects.”

That careful approach extended to the ring itself, which soon became part of the public conversation.

The Diamond That Sparked Its Own Headlines

Reports linked Zendaya’s engagement ring to British jeweler Jessica McCormack, specifically a 5.02-carat East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back ring.

The cushion-cut diamond is set horizontally in an east-west orientation, framed in 18K gold within a Georgian-style cut-down setting. The total carat weight is listed as 5.02 carats, though the price is available only upon request.

Even without a listed cost, estimates soon followed.

What the Ring’s Price and Design Reveal

According to People, Lisa Ingram, vice president of merchandising at Signet Jewelers, estimated the ring to be worth between $150,000 and $200,000, depending on the stone’s size.

“Zendaya’s engagement ring strikes a perfect balance between classic elegance and a subtle edge,” Ingram said. “Her large button-back oval ring, set in a Georgian style, highlights the continued popularity of vintage cuts while incorporating modern yet unexpected styling through its setting.”
