Melania’s Reaction to Trump’s Marriage Comment at White House Event Stuns Viewers

President Donald Trump left the world speechless during a Royal arrival ceremony when he made a stunningly blunt admission about the future of his marriage to Melania.

The atmosphere was supposed to be strictly formal as King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived at the White House for a historic state visit. However, the 47th president decided to go off-script, delivering a series of remarks that took a sharp turn into uncomfortable territory.

While the world watched for diplomatic breakthroughs, it instead witnessed a moment of brutal honesty that has set social media ablaze. Everyone is currently debating whether the First Lady’s facial expression was one of genuine amusement or sheer heartbreak.

A Royal Welcome With a Twist

The South Lawn was packed on Tuesday as President Trump welcomed the British monarchs to Washington for a formal arrival ceremony.

Amidst the pomp and circumstance, Trump began reflecting on his late mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, and her deep admiration for the Royal Family.

He even shared a playful anecdote about his mother having a bit of a “crush” on a young King Charles decades ago. But as the speech meandered through family history, the president shifted his focus to the duration of his parents’ union.

The Longevity Logic

Trump noted that his parents, Fred and Mary, celebrated a massive 63-year marriage before their passing. It was at this precise moment that he paused his address to address his wife, Melania, who was seated directly behind him on the stage.

The president looked at the First Lady and delivered a line that few expected during such a high-profile event. He made a point to highlight that their own marital timeline simply couldn’t compete with the previous generation.

The Marital Bombshell

The math behind the joke is simple but perhaps a bit morbid for a sunny afternoon in D.C. Having married in 2005, Trump pointed out that matching his parents’ record is practically impossible given their current ages.

“That’s a record we won’t be able to match, darling,” he said wistfully to the crowd’s surprise. He followed up with the punchline: “I’m sorry, it’s just not going to work out that way.“

Mixed Reactions

The president didn’t stop there, adding that while they would “do well,” they certainly wouldn’t be hitting that 63-year milestone.

The math is straightforward. Trump turns 80 this June; Melania is 56. They married in January 2005 — he was 58, she was 34. To match his parents’ 63-year record, Trump would need to reach 121.

While the King and Queen appeared to chuckle at the self-deprecating humor, viewers at home were hyper-focused on Melania’s face.

Some observers were quick to defend the president’s wit, claiming the First Lady was clearly in on the joke. One fan on social media noted, “She liked that joke though?” while another added, “And wow..look at her smile!!”

“He’s such a class act. Her expression is priceless,” another person agreed.

Tears or Triumph

However, not everyone interpreted the First Lady’s reaction as a moment of marital bliss. A different segment of the internet claimed her expression told a much darker story of embarrassment and sadness.

“That’s not a smile, she looks like she’s holding back tears,” one person commented on a viral clip of the event. Another viewer went even further, suggesting the moment was a total disaster, saying, “Looks like she’s about ready to cry.”

Other such comments included: “He is tone deaf” and “I saw her eyes in the back of her head.😂.”

The South Lawn ceremony was just the opening act. Hours later, the evening shifted to the White House state dinner — and the conversation moved from what Trump said to what Melania wore.

Melania Trump’s Gown May Hold a Subtle Nod to King Charles III

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were in Washington, D.C., on April 28, 2026, for a state dinner hosted by Melania and President Trump. The elegant evening followed the monarch’s address to Congress earlier that day.

According to WWD, Melania wore a pale delphinium pink silk strapless gown designed by Jonathan Anderson for Christian Dior, featuring a clean, structured silhouette that highlighted its elegant simplicity.

She completed the look with long off-white opera gloves and matching heels, creating a polished and cohesive ensemble that balanced modern minimalism with classic glamour.

The color choice may have been intentional. Delphinium flowers, reflected in the gown’s hue, are known to be among Charles’s favorites.

Meanwhile, Camilla wore a bright pink evening gown that stood out for its rich tone and classic silhouette, paired with a historic diamond necklace that added a touch of royal sparkle.

Both Charles and Donald appeared in traditional white-tie attire, reinforcing the formal tone of the evening. Together, the group created a striking visual on the red carpet.

Netizens React to Melania Trump and Queen Camilla’s State Dinner Looks

Online reactions were mixed. On Instagram, one netizen wrote, “Melania so gorgeous❤️.” Another commented, “I love Malania dress and it was a tribute to the princess of Wales ❤️🔥🔥 [sic].”

Someone else added, “Camilla could you please have someone help you with your wardrobe 🤦🏻‍♀️,” shifting focus to the queen’s outfit.

On Facebook, the tone was more critical. One commenter said, “That looks like a ’70s prom dress.” Another wrote, “A large dinner napkin,” while someone else remarked, “I see a pink bib and maybe a baby bump😳?”

The mixed reactions highlight just how closely state dinner fashion is scrutinized, especially when long-standing traditions appear to shift. And this time, both Melania and Camilla may have subtly broken with style expectations.

What Their Fashion Choices Could Mean

The online reactions also point to a broader shift. These fashion choices may have strayed from long-standing royal expectations, something royal watchers rarely miss.

According to Elle, Grant Harrold, former butler to Charles, noted that “White is a very traditional colour for the state Banquets.” The custom has been followed for years, including by past attendees like Michelle Obama in 2011.

This time, however, both Melania and Camilla chose shades of pink instead — a subtle but noticeable departure from tradition. The shift was not limited to color.

In an April 27 visit to the White House, both women signaled a more personal approach to diplomacy through their fashion choices.

As reported by GB News, Melania wore a bespoke butter-yellow suit by American designer Adam Lippes, while Camilla chose a white chiffon dress by British designer Anna Valentine — both spotlighting designers from their home countries.

Together, these choices suggest a move toward individual expression over strict protocol, adding another layer of intrigue to an already closely watched state visit.

Melania’s high-profile appearance alongside the British royals at the White House comes at a moment of heightened attention, as she and Donald face ongoing public friction with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.

The First Lady Delivers Direct Criticism

As previously reported, the first lady stunned many with a response to Jimmy that was as direct as it was intense.

In a statement shared publicly, Melania wrote, “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”

She didn’t stop there. She added:

“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him.”

Then came her closing demand — one that quickly fueled headlines. “Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Jimmy’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”

Donald Trump Escalates the Pressure

Donald wasted no time making his outrage known, calling for consequences that would send shockwaves through the entertainment world.

In a blistering statement on his Truth Social account, Donald wrote that Jimmy “should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” describing the comedian’s remarks as “really shocking.”

“Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny, as attested to by his terrible Television Ratings, made a statement on his Show that is really shocking […] Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

He went even further, tying the controversy to a disturbing real-world incident. “A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives,” Donald said, calling the situation “far beyond the pale.”

“He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale.”

As backlash intensified, Jimmy addressed the controversy during his show, pushing back against claims that his joke had dangerous implications.

The Late-Night Host Responds

Jimmy, however, wasn’t backing down. The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host reportedly responded to both the president and first lady during his Monday, April 27, monologue.

In the monologue, the host insists that a joke he delivered three days before the White House Correspondents’ Dinner could not have had an impact on the attempted assassination attempt on Saturday, April 25. He firmly denied that his remarks were anything more than humor, calling the criticism exaggerated.

“It was not by any stretch a call to assassination,” Jimmy said, adding that he has long spoken out against gun violence. “And they know that I’ve been very vocal for many years, speaking out against gun violence in particular.”

Still, he acknowledged the gravity of the situation surrounding the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

“I am sorry that you and the president and everyone in that room on Saturday went through that. I really am,” he said. “Just because no one got killed doesn’t meant it wasn’t traumatic and scary. And we should come together and be best. We really should [sic].”

But then came the line that added another twist to the saga:

“But if you want us to believe that a joke I made three days before this dinner had any effect on anything that happened, well maybe you should look into this psychic lady, too.”

The Joke That Sparked the Political Firestorm

Only after the backlash exploded did Jimmy’s original joke begin circulating widely online — revealing why it struck such a nerve. During a monologue, Jimmy turned his attention to Melania with a line that quickly went viral.

“Of course, our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania. So beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow. Melania’s birthday is on Sunday. That’s right.”

He didn’t stop there, adding another jab that drew mixed reactions, “She’s planning to celebrate at home, the same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, ‘what have I done?'”

Why the Joke Sparked Backlash

The reaction from both Melania and Donald made clear that the remark was taken seriously. Melania described the monologue as “hateful and violent rhetoric,” while Donald went further, calling it “really shocking” and demanding consequences.

Their responses quickly gained traction online, amplifying the controversy surrounding Jimmy’s comments.

A Controversy That Continues to Unfold

Jimmy has since defended the joke, insisting it was not intended as anything more than humor and rejecting claims that it encouraged violence. At the same time, both Melania and Donald Trump have maintained their criticism, with calls for accountability directed at the network.

With reactions continuing to surface, the moment has evolved into a widely discussed clash between politics and late-night television.

Donald Trump Calls a Mystery Woman ‘Great Daughter’ in a Social Media Post — Photo

One vintage photograph and seven words from President Donald Trump were enough to spark a social media mystery that left thousands of people asking the same question: Who was the woman he called a “great daughter”?

Donald Trump posted something online that made netizens try to piece together a mystery themselves. As speculation spread across social media, a response from a family member and subsequent reporting began to point toward a woman with longstanding ties to Donald and New York’s Republican circles.

Why Donald Trump’s Caption Sparked So Much Confusion

Donald stirred widespread curiosity after sharing a vintage photograph of a smiling blonde woman on Truth Social with the caption, “Great daughter. My Honor!!! President DJT.”

Shared ahead of Father’s Day weekend, the post included no explanation. Donald did not identify the woman, say when the photograph was taken, or explain why he chose to share it.

At the center of the post was a photograph of a younger blonde woman reclining on a sofa inside what appears to be an elegant residence.

She smiles toward the camera while resting her head on one hand. The room features red upholstered furniture, bookshelves, lamps, and indoor plants. Draped across the sofa is a blanket bearing an official seal, a detail that prompted closer scrutiny.

The photograph was reportedly taken at Camp David during the Clinton administration, with the Arkansas state seal —former President Bill Clinton’s home state — visible on the sofa.

Much of the early reaction centered on Donald’s caption. Because he referred to the woman as a “great daughter” without identifying her, many people initially assumed he was referring to one of his own children.

Donald has five children from three marriages, according to People. With his late first wife, Ivana Trump, he shares Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump, all of whom have been involved with the Trump Organization.

He and his second wife, Marla Maples, have a daughter, Tiffany Trump, who is a lawyer. Donald and First Lady Melania Trump share one son, Barron Trump, who graduated from high school in May 2024.

Donald has 11 grandchildren: Kai Madison Trump, Donald John Trump III, Arabella Rose Kushner, Joseph Frederick Kushner, Theodore James Kushner, Tristan Milos Trump, Spencer Frederick Trump, Chloe Sophia Trump, Eric Luke Trump, Carolina Dorothy Trump, and Alexander Trump Boulos.

The unanswered caption quickly turned into an online search, with social media users offering their own theories about who the woman might be.

Social Media Users Thought They Knew Who the Woman Was

Online, several netizens offered a range of theories. On Facebook, one user wrote, “It’s weird that he even found that image to share it. What do you suppose he was looking at?”

A second chimed in, “Or maybe she’s REALLY his daughter and something more that has been hidden from the public.”

Another commented, “My guess is someone saw the photo and thought it was one of his daughters. Donald posted without really looking at the photo.” Someone bluntly stated, “Daughter from yet another mother??”

Others focused on the wording of Donald’s caption rather than the woman’s identity.

On Instagram, one user wrote, “Great daughter doesn’t mean his daughter, it could be she’s a great daughter to one of his friends. 👏” Another questioned the post itself, asking, “Can we ask him if he remembers posting this?”

Some commenters took the discussion in a different direction, speculating about Donald’s personal life. One wrote, “Cheating on his 1st lady,” while another commented, “The President of the United States cheating on his wife that’s just crazy 🤔.”

Others, however, believed the mystery had already been solved.

One Instagrammer wrote, “identified the woman as Margo Catsimatidis … whose daughter, Andrea Catsimatidis, is the chairwoman for the Manhattan Republican Party.” Another simply added, “Is it really a mystery? It’s not.”

The online speculation shifted after a woman with firsthand knowledge of the family publicly responded.

On X, Andrea Catsimatidis thanked Donald for inviting her to his birthday celebration. The chairwoman of the Manhattan Republican Party described the event as a patriotic tribute and thanked him for his work on behalf of the country.

Andrea did not explicitly identify the woman in the photograph. However, The Independent later reported that the woman was her mother, Margo Catsimatidis.

While Donald has not commented further on the post, Andrea’s response and the newspaper’s reporting largely resolved the question that had dominated social media.

Why Margo Catsimatidis Was a Familiar Face to Donald Trump

According to her official biography, Margo was born in Indiana and was invited to dance with the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet at age 12, becoming its youngest invited dancer at the time.

In 1971, she moved to New York to pursue a ballet career, studying under a renowned Russian instructor and appearing in theatrical productions.

After a dance-related injury ended those plans, she joined Red Apple Supermarkets, where she met businessman John Catsimatidis.

Married for more than 30 years, the couple helped grow Red Apple Group into a company with interests in supermarkets, real estate, aviation, energy, and media.

Beyond her business career, Margo has spent decades supporting charitable and civic organizations, including the Hellenic Times Scholarship Fund, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Her biography also notes that she and her husband have hosted presidents, governors, and other political leaders over the years.

Her husband now serves as chairman of Red Apple Group and owner of the New York City supermarket chain Gristedes.

According to Forbes, he expanded the family business into oil refining and broadcasting after opening his first grocery store in 1969. His real-time net worth is at $4.8 billion, ranking him No. 889 in the world as of June 25, 2026.

The same publication also reported that he donated more than $515,000 to Donald’s 2020 presidential campaign.

Those business, philanthropic, and political ties help explain why Donald has appeared alongside Margo and her husband at public events over the years.

Recent White House Photos Show Their Continued Relationship

Images from the White House’s Greek Independence Day celebration on March 26, 2026, place Margo and John among the guests who joined Donald during the annual event.

The photographs show the couple standing near the president alongside Archbishop Elpidophoros and then-U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle. Other images capture Donald greeting the Catsimatidises during the ceremony, illustrating that the family has remained part of his public circle.

The event also offered insight into how Donald speaks about the couple.

During his official remarks, Donald spotted John in the audience and called out, “Where is John?… Come on up here, John.”

He then invited Margo to join them, joking, “You want to bring your wife up? You can. She’s really the boss. We know that.”

Donald also reflected on his long relationship with John Catsimatidis, saying, “We’ve known each other too long,” before adding, “We used to compete with each other.” John replied with a smile, “You won.”

Later in the speech, Donald recognized the couple again while discussing the rebuilding of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church after the September 11 attacks.

“We’re pleased to be joined by one of the Greek titans who helped to rebuild this thing—John Catsimatidis—and Margo,” Donald said, before joking, “Much more importantly, Margo.” He went on to describe John as “a friend of mine,” “a great guy,” “very successful,” and “above all, a great patriot.”

John later described the moment in more detail on the Red Apple Podcast Network, recalling that Donald personally called him up from the audience and encouraged him to bring Margo along.

He said the president had just come from Cabinet meetings before hosting hundreds of guests at the White House, and described being invited on stage as a highlight of what he called “a great Greek Independence Day.”

John also recounted a brief exchange with Donald during the event, saying he leaned over and told the president, “Me and you used to compete with each other,” to which Donald replied, “Well, you went far beyond. You’re the president now.”

In the end, the photograph drew attention not because of where it was taken or when it was captured, but because of the unanswered questions surrounding the woman in it.

Once her identity emerged, the post offered another glimpse into Donald Trump‘s longstanding ties with the Catsimatidis family — relationships that have continued to play out publicly through political events, charitable gatherings, and appearances at the White House.

President Ends NBC Interview Early, Tells Host ‘You’re Either Crooked or Stupid’ in Tense Exchange

A rain-soaked interview in rural Wisconsin appeared to be winding toward a familiar political debate. Then an unexpected exchange shifted the conversation and brought it to an abrupt end.

What began as a discussion about elections, Iran, and government policy ended with the president cutting off the interview and walking away, leaving viewers with a dramatic final moment.

The interview aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and featured President Donald Trump speaking with host Kristen Welker during an event with farmers in Wisconsin. While much of the conversation focused on foreign policy and domestic issues, the most talked-about moments came in the final minutes.

According to the BBC’s report, the interview was repeatedly interrupted by technical problems and rain pounding on the metal roof of the barn where it was being filmed.

The difficult conditions became a recurring theme throughout the conversation and would later be referenced by both Trump and Welker.

Election Claims Take Center Stage

For much of the interview, Welker questioned Trump about the conflict with Iran. The president argued that the United States needed to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and insisted any military involvement would not become a prolonged conflict.

“We’re there for a few months, and the threat is largely over,” he said. The discussion later turned to the now-abandoned proposal for a $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

The plan had drawn criticism from Democrats and some Republicans, who argued it could lead to compensation for people prosecuted in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. That topic eventually led to a broader discussion about elections.

Trump repeated his longstanding claim that the 2020 presidential election had been “rigged.” During the interview, he also claimed California’s current primary elections were being improperly handled while vote counting continued across the state.

California election officials have not yet finalized results in several races. Delays are common because of the state’s extensive vote-counting process and widespread use of mail-in ballots.

A Heated Back-and-Forth

As the conversation intensified, Trump pointed to the ongoing California vote count as evidence that something was wrong. “They’re cheating on the election,” he said.

Welker immediately challenged the claim and asked whether he had evidence to support it. Trump responded: “All I have to do is look, and I listen.”

When Welker replied that “that’s not evidence,” the exchange became increasingly confrontational. Trump then shifted his criticism toward the media.

“They’re crooked,” he continued, “just like you’re crooked.” Welker pushed back, telling the president, “To be fair, I’m not crooked. But let’s continue.” The conversation did not move on.

The Moment the Interview Ended

Shortly afterward, Trump escalated the exchange by telling Welker, “You’re either crooked or you’re stupid.” Following additional back-and-forth, he decided he had heard enough.

“Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time,” Trump said. Welker attempted to continue the interview, but Trump interrupted again, pointing to the difficult filming conditions.

“I’ve sat in the rain with you for an hour, on and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time.” He then turned his attention back to the media more broadly.

“You ought to straighten out your press, because you know what? A country can never be great with a dishonest press.” Moments later, he gestured toward people behind the cameras and said, “Come on, let’s go,” before standing up and leaving the set.

NBC reported that Trump walked out roughly 50 minutes after sitting down for the interview.

A Familiar Media Feud

The confrontation added another chapter to Trump’s long-running and often contentious relationship with traditional news organizations.

Throughout his political career, he has frequently accused major media outlets of unfair coverage and bias against him. Friday’s exchange reflected many of the same tensions that have characterized those disputes for years.

The setting itself only added to the unusual nature of the interview. Conducted inside a barn during a farmers’ event and repeatedly interrupted by rain and technical issues, the conversation unfolded under circumstances that were far from typical for a national television interview.

What Happened Next?

Despite the dramatic ending, the story did not stop there. After the interview aired, Welker revealed that she and Trump had spoken again the following day.

According to Welker, both acknowledged the challenges created by the weather and technical complications during the Wisconsin interview.

She also said Trump agreed to sit down for another “Meet the Press” interview in the future. That means the conversation may not be over.

Trump and the Media: A Familiar Pattern

While the Wisconsin interview quickly made headlines, it was far from the first time Trump’s exchanges with members of the media have become part of the story itself.

Over the years, the president has repeatedly found himself at the center of tense confrontations with reporters, television hosts, and public figures.

Several of those moments generated widespread attention, including one encounter aboard Air Force One just seven months earlier that also featured a personal remark directed at a journalist and an unexpected policy shift.

On November 14, 2025, Trump stunned viewers with a sharp, pointed outburst during a question-and-answer session with a reporter, after which he reversed his previous stance on releasing documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein Confrontation: Insult Precedes Policy Reversal

A reporter directly asked Trump about Epstein’s cryptic claim that the president knew about “the girls.” In response, Trump denied knowing anything about the financier’s assertions and quickly shifted attention to others with well-documented ties to Epstein.

Trump maintained that his relationship with Epstein had been fraught for years, stressing that they had not been on good terms. He emphasized that investigators should focus on what the convicted sex offender may have known about Bill Clinton, former Harvard president Larry Summers, and institutions such as JPMorgan Chase.

But the session escalated when Trump snapped at the reporter, saying, “Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.” After this lash out, Trump abruptly shifted his stance, urging House Republicans to vote on releasing Epstein-related documents that he had previously shown little interest in making public.

The exchange added to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding President Donald Trump‘s handling of questions about Epstein and the robust network connected to the financier.

Trump Slams NFL over ‘Crazy’ Decision

The shocking exchange over Epstein followed another flare-up in October 2025— this time over the NFL’s Super Bowl Halftime show.

During a phone appearance on “Greg Kelly Reports,” President Trump called the NFL’s choice unreasonable. He admitted he didn’t know who the reggaeton star, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known professionally as Bad Bunny, was.

On the segment that ranged from urban crime to government spending, host Greg Kelly steered the conversation toward the league’s selection of Bad Bunny. He referred to the performer dismissively, saying, “The NFL just chose the bad bunny rabbit or whatever his name [is], this guy who hates ICE. He doesn’t like you. He accuses everything he doesn’t like of racism.”

He added that Bad Bunny “does not seem like a unifying entertainer, and a lot of folks don’t even know who he is.”

When asked to weigh in, Trump appeared bewildered. “I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s like [sic] crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,” he said.

House Speaker Adds to Backlash

Adding to the attention, House Speaker Mike Johnson, in an interview on October 7, echoed Trump’s criticism. He said he was unaware of Bad Bunny before the announcement and suggested that the choice did not appeal to a broad audience.

Johnson also highlighted the Super Bowl’s massive global reach, particularly its influence on children, and argued that the halftime stage should spotlight role models rather than controversial figures.

Bad Bunny: ICE Fear vs. Global Fame

While the rapper has not responded directly to Trump or Johnson, he has previously expressed his discomfort with performing in the U.S. due to concerns about immigration enforcement.

In a September 10, 2025, interview, he said that his past U.S. shows had been successful and meaningful for connecting with Latinos living in the country. However, he added that the presence of ICE at potential concerts was a serious concern:

“But there was the issue of — like, [expletive] ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

Despite the public pushback, Bad Bunny’s career continues to soar. In January 2025, he released “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS,” an ambitious project blending Puerto Rican genres like salsa, bomba, and plena with deep cultural and family themes. He previously made history with “El Último Tour Del Mundo,” the first all-Spanish-language album ever to top the Billboard 200.

His 2022 blockbuster “Un Verano Sin Ti” remains Spotify’s most-streamed album of all time — a staggering feat in the streaming era. In addition to music, the Puerto Rican singer has appeared in films including “Bullet Train,” “Caught Stealing,” and “Happy Gilmore 2.”

Bad Bunny Confirms Super Bowl LX Halftime Performance

The artist officially confirmed his Super Bowl LX headlining gig on September 29, 2025, via an Instagram post captioned, “Super Bowl LX. Bay Area. February 2026.” Following this announcement, he will take the stage after Kendrick Lamar, whose Super Bowl LIX performance earned widespread praise for celebrating hip-hop culture.

The rapper also shared his thoughts on the NFL’s choice during his “Saturday Night Live” monologue on October 5, 2025, telling the audience:

“I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show.[…] I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl. And I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy.”

As the discussion heats up, one thing is clear: Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX performance is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about halftime shows in recent memory.

From Donald Trump directing personal remarks and rapidly shifting stances on primary legal documents to leveraging celebrity controversies, these incidents show that the president remains a central figure in national debates, frequently drawing attention with sharp exchanges and high-profile disputes.

Donald Trump’s Interaction with JD Vance at Sen. Lindsey Graham’s Funeral Has People Talking — Video

What happened between the president and vice president inside the cathedral quickly became one of the funeral’s most talked-about moments, but not before Donald Trump delivered a deeply personal tribute to his longtime friend.

A solemn farewell for Sen. Lindsey Graham ended with an unexpected moment that viewers couldn’t stop replaying. The funeral at Washington National Cathedral brought together family members, political leaders, and mourners to honor Graham’s decades of public service.

Throughout the ceremony, President Donald Trump reflected on the man he said remained devoted to his country, his loved ones, and the values that shaped his life long before he entered politics.

Trump Remembered the Life That Shaped Lindsey Graham Long Before Washington

Trump began his tribute by looking back on Graham’s childhood in rural South Carolina, recalling stories the late senator often shared about growing up in his parents’ bar and pool hall.

According to the president, Graham credited those early years with teaching him lessons that stayed with him throughout his life. Trump said Graham’s father believed success required both a sense of humor to keep customers coming back and the toughness to overcome difficult times.

Trump told mourners those lessons helped mold Graham into someone who listened carefully to others, stood firmly by his convictions, and remained committed to serving the nation.

The Family Story Trump Said Meant More Than Politics

While Graham built a decades-long career in public office, Trump said the accomplishment that mattered most to his friend happened years before he reached the U.S. Senate.

During the eulogy, Trump recalled that Graham lost both of his parents while he was still a young man, leaving his younger sister, Darlene Graham, without either parent. Rather than stepping away from that responsibility, Graham became her legal guardian while still attending college and helped raise her.

Trump said Graham often described that responsibility as “his single proudest accomplishment in life,” adding that seeing Darlene continue her brother’s service in the Senate was “nothing more fitting” because she represented Graham’s “proudest legacy.”

Funny Memories Brought Laughter to an Emotional Farewell

Although the service was filled with emotion, Trump also shared several stories that prompted laughter throughout the cathedral. One recalled Graham answering the telephone inside his family’s business as a boy. When a customer asked him to tell his wife he wasn’t there, young Graham simply repeated the message exactly as he had heard it.

Trump also remembered Graham joking that listening to a lengthy explanation of patent law amounted to “a new form of enhanced interrogation.”

Another story centered on an invitation to an early-morning prayer breakfast. Trump recalled Graham quipping, “If Jesus himself comes back before 10:00 a.m., I ain’t going.”

The president also joked about Graham’s reputation for supporting an aggressive foreign policy, saying the senator “never saw a war that he didn’t like,” before quickly adding that only Graham’s closest friends would appreciate the remark.

Trump Reflected on a Friendship That Began as a Rivalry

Trump acknowledged that he and Graham “did not exactly get off to the best of starts,” reminding mourners that Graham openly criticized him during the 2016 Republican presidential primary, according to NBC News.

“Lindsey said something nasty,” Trump recalled. “I did something that I shouldn’t have done… I shared his personal cellphone number with the millions of people that happened to be watching that particular day.”

Trump said Graham later joked that he’d had the same phone number for two decades before it suddenly “exploded” with calls after Trump publicized it. The president even teased the audience by repeating the number again, saying that anyone who wanted to could “give it a shot.”

Looking back on the episode, Trump said the unlikely beginning eventually turned into one of his closest friendships. “We became great friends,” Trump said, adding that even though Graham’s phone had been overwhelmed that day, the senator “did not stop calling me for the next 10 years.”

Trump’s Final Goodbye Ended the Service on an Emotional Note

As the eulogy drew to a close, Trump reflected on Graham’s life as a brother, senator, servicemember, and patriot. Quoting Scripture, he expressed his belief that Graham had remained steadfast through every trial before telling mourners he believed his friend had been reunited with his parents.

“I think he’s watching us,” Trump said. He ended his tribute by saying, “Lindsey, we love you. God bless you. We will always be with you, and you were very, very special. Thank you.” After finishing his remarks, Trump walked past Graham’s flag-draped casket, gently patted it twice, and returned to his seat.

It was only after that emotional farewell that another quiet moment inside the cathedral unexpectedly stole the spotlight.

A Small Gesture Between Trump and Vance Suddenly Became the Funeral’s Most Shared Moment

A video shared by CBS News showed Trump seated beside Vice President JD Vance as the funeral continued. The footage showed Trump reaching into his pocket before placing what appeared to be a mint into his own mouth.

Seconds later, he extended the pack toward Vance, who looked down at Trump’s hand with a smile. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, seated on Vance’s other side, also appeared to smile during the brief exchange.

The quiet exchange lasted only a few seconds. Still, it was enough to send the clip racing across social media, where viewers began immediately connecting it to another memorable funeral moment involving a former president and first lady.

Many Viewers Thought the Moment Looked Strikingly Familiar

As the clip spread online, one netizen wrote, “Trying to be like Bush with Michelle.” Another commenter remarked, “He is copying Former President George W. Bush, [sic] famously passed a mint to former First Lady Michelle Obama at the funeral of Senator John McCain on September 1, 2018.”

A third person similarly commented, “Trying to be like President George W. Bush and Michele Obama.”

According to Today, cameras first captured Bush passing what turned out to be a cough drop to Michelle Obama during Sen. John McCain’s memorial service. When the Obamas later attended George H.W. Bush’s state funeral, Bush once again quietly slipped her a mint as they greeted one another before the ceremony.

Mother of Two Girls Found Dead in Winneconne Home Speaks Out — Reveals Warning Signs She Says Were Ignored

Two sisters entered a home where their mother says they never felt secure. Behind its doors was a dangerous collection, but the full weight of her warning would not become clear until three lives were lost.

The victims were 16-year-old Jaelyn Manke, her 11-year-old sister, Lenora Manke, and their father, 57-year-old Jeffrey Manke. Their deaths have left a small Wisconsin community mourning while the girls’ mother, Lindsey Dash, asks why their reported pleas for help did not lead to greater protection.

A Welfare Check Ended With Three Deaths

Officers were sent to a residence in the 500 block of Division Street in Winneconne on Friday night, July 31, 2026. The call was described as both a medical incident and a welfare check.

Inside the property, police found three people dead. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Winneconne Police Department, and Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified them as Jaelyn, Lenora, and Jeffrey.

The sheriff’s office is leading the investigation, according to NBC 26. Authorities have not publicly disclosed how any of the three died or explained the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Investigators have said the incident appears to have been confined to the home and that there is no danger to the wider public. The case remains active, and officials have asked anyone with relevant information to call the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office at 920-236-7300.

Winneconne Police Chief Ben Sauriol offered his condolences to everyone affected. He also called an event of this nature “exceedingly rare” in the village.

“Winneconne is small town America, and we all pretty much know everybody here,” Sauriol said. “And when something like this happens in a quiet community, it sends ripples and it’s shocked everybody at this point.”

Those ripples quickly reached the schools, studios, and organizations where the sisters had spent their time. As friends began sharing memories of the girls, their mother disclosed the fear she said had existed long before officers arrived at the house.

Their Mother Says the Girls Asked for Help

On August 3, Lindsey thanked the people who had surrounded her with care. Her gratitude sat alongside the crushing reality that the daily purpose around which she had built her life was suddenly gone.

In an emotional Facebook post, she described organizing her finances so she could remain at home with Jaelyn and Lenora and give them the best childhood she could provide.

Lindsey wrote, “I feel everyone’s love around me and I appreciate that. I need all the love I can get because I don’t know how to do this without them.” She then made the allegation at the heart of her grief:

“Everyone they talked to knew they were not safe in his care. And I fought so hard to try to keep them safe.

Lindsey said she had fought to protect her daughters and claimed a family counselor stopped working with them despite knowing the girls did not want to be in their father’s home. She also said reports were submitted to Child Protective Services and police had been called.

“I was legally forced to send them when they felt unsafe,” she wrote. “Nobody wanted to listen.” Her strongest accusation was directed at the broader process she believed had let the sisters down.

“If someone listened to their cries for help for the last 2 years , they would still be here . The system failed my babies.”

No agency named in Lindsey’s post has publicly responded to her individual claims. Police have also not announced whether the deaths are being investigated as homicides, a murder-suicide, or under another classification.

That distinction matters. This distressed mother’s account reveals what she says happened before July 31, but the official investigation has not yet established publicly what occurred inside the home.

Court records, however, add another troubling reveal to the questions she raised.

Court Filings Pointed to Firearms and Health Concerns

Jeffrey’s divorce from another partner was finalized earlier on July 31, the same day that he and his daughters were found dead. Four days before his death, a witness had been requested to appear in the divorce proceedings to address his health and firearm collection.

Records obtained by NBC 26 also showed that a restraining order had been filed against him earlier in 2026. The filing noted that he had access to guns.

A divorce settlement described a collection of 14 firearms, with weapons ranging from an AK-47 to a Glock 21. Authorities have not said whether any of those firearms were connected to the deaths.

The presence of guns in court records does not establish what happened in the house. It does, however, give added context to Lindsey’s statement that Jaelyn and Lenora had expressed fear while the legal proceedings involving their parents continued.

As those details drew attention, anger began to spread toward people involved in the family court process. Lindsey returned to social media one day later with a direct request about how the public should respond.

She Asked Supporters to Stop the Threats

On August 4, Lindsey said the response to her first post had brought an enormous amount of support. She was grateful, but she also saw misinformation, personal hatred, and threats being aimed at individuals linked to the case.

In a second public statement, she urged people to stop and said the individuals receiving that hostility were required to operate under laws they did not have the power to rewrite. Her focus shifted from blaming particular workers to calling for a transformation of the system.

“It is the laws that need to change to better protect our children and give them a voice.”

She specifically said threats and inaccurate claims involving the guardian ad litem and other participants were pulling attention away from Jaelyn and Lenora. Lindsey wanted her daughters remembered for the qualities she had worked to instill in them: faith, kindness, and love.

A candlelight vigil is being planned to bring the community together and raise awareness. For their mother, the gathering is meant to center the sisters rather than the fury gathering around their deaths.

The girls’ activities offer a fuller picture of the lives behind the court filings and police statements. Both sisters had earned admiration in spaces where they danced, trained, volunteered, and encouraged younger students.

Their Dance School Remembered Two Role Models

On August 1, Richard’s School of the Dance announced that it had lost two of its dancers. The studio remembered Jaelyn and Lenora as caring students who helped their peers, shared encouragement, and arrived with smiles.

In its tribute, the school wrote, “Jaelyn and Lenora had the most beautiful and kind hearts.”

The sisters were especially important to the younger dancers who looked up to them. The studio asked its community to surround their family with prayer and love while respecting the request for privacy.

“They will forever be dancing in our hearts and remembered for the beautiful souls that they were,” the school wrote.

Dance was only one place where the sisters made an impression. Their martial arts academy remembered two energetic students whose futures had seemed wide open only weeks earlier.

One Sister Had Just Earned Her License

American Black Belt Academy said Jaelyn and Lenora had most recently tested for their fifth gups in May. Their deaths on July 31 were described by the academy as a cruel event that its members could not understand.

Its August 4 memorial included personal details that showed each girl’s character. According to them, Jaelyn had recently received her driver’s license. She enjoyed volunteering at the academy and was known for her high kicks.

Lenora brought enthusiasm to every training session. The academy said, “We never saw her without a smile.”

Meanwhile, a friend of their mother offered another view of the family’s private struggle. Her words echoed Lindsey’s belief that the danger had not gone unnoticed.

A Friend Said Their Mother Tried Everything

Katie Stegeman said on August 3 that she had known Lindsey for more than 10 years. She remembered a mother who adored her daughters and devoted herself to giving them everything she could.

In a Facebook message, Katie alleged that Lindsey had left an abusive relationship to keep the girls safe and had contacted everyone she believed could help protect them. “We have to change the system,” Katie wrote. “This should never have happened.”

Her post finished by directing readers toward a fundraiser and meal train for Lindsey. That effort became one of the most immediate ways for the community to help a mother facing funeral costs while stepping away from her livelihood.

The Community Is Helping Her Grieve

The memorial fund created by Ericka Pierson described Jaelyn and Lenora as the “kindest and sweetest kids.” It said their devotion to God and family had left a lasting mark on the people who knew them.

The fundraiser asked supporters to give Lindsey and her relatives privacy during the difficult days and weeks ahead. It explained that the family would contact people when they felt ready.

According to the description, Lindsey planned to pause her small business while grieving. Donations were designated for funeral expenses, her mortgage, utilities, and ordinary living costs during that break.

At the time of publication, contributors had given $27,943 toward a $50,000 goal. The campaign also included passages from Psalms and Revelation for supporters who share the family’s Christian faith. Among them was Psalm 34:18, which offers comfort to people with broken hearts.

The Investigation Still Holds Crucial Answers

The initial report confirmed the identities of all three people on August 3 but offered no additional explanation for their deaths. Until investigators release more evidence, the cause, sequence, and responsibility remain officially unanswered.

The public record nevertheless shows that concerns involving Jeffrey’s firearms and health had reached the divorce case shortly before July 31. Lindsey’s own account goes further, alleging that the girls had told multiple people they did not feel safe over a period of two years.

Her grief now carries two demands that must exist together. She wants the laws changed so children are heard, and she wants threats against the individuals who worked within those laws to end.

For the people who loved Jaelyn and Lenora, the sisters cannot be reduced to the unanswered questions surrounding the house on Division Street. They were daughters their mother arranged her entire life around.

We offer our sincere condolences to her and her family at this difficult time.

Wynonna Judd Opens Up About Why She and Sister Ashley Are ‘Taking a Break’ After Years of Being Distant

Wynonna and Ashley Judd leaned on each other after their mother’s death. Four years later, the country singer has revealed an unexpected turn in their relationship.

The sisters have faced years of distance despite moments of closeness. Now, Wynonna is opening up about the childhood roles, separate paths, and current circumstances behind their complicated bond.

Wynonna said she and her younger sister, actress Ashley Judd, are not currently “connected.”

In a recent interview with People, the 62-year-old country singer reflected on their complicated relationship and whether she expects to reconnect with Ashley, 58.

Their history of ups and downs dates back to childhood. The sisters have different biological fathers, and Wynonna often cared for Ashley while their mother, Naomi, worked to support the financially struggling family.

Their relationship has changed over the years, but one of their most difficult moments also brought them closer together.

The Sisters Leaned on Each Other After Naomi’s Death

Naomi died by suicide on April 30, 2022. Ashley shared the heartbreaking news in an Instagram statement:

“Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”

Just one day later, Wynonna and Ashley faced another emotional moment as the Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Naomi had died before she could attend the ceremony, but her daughters wanted the tribute to go ahead. They sat together in the front row as the country music community celebrated their mother’s legacy while mourning her loss.

In a May 2022 Instagram post, Wynonna opened up about her grief, efforts to break cycles of family dysfunction, weekly appointments, and the importance of accepting support.

“I really DO know, that I’m not able to do this grieving thing all by myself, and that it’s okay to reach out for help,” she wrote.

Ashley described how the family was navigating their loss during a July 2022 appearance on the Healing with David Kessler podcast, cited by Good Morning America.

She said she, Wynonna, and their stepfather, Larry Strickland, respected one another’s different ways of grieving. “We don’t try to control or redirect or dictate how the other one should be feeling at any particular moment,” Ashley explained.

The actress also revealed that Wynonna, who lived nearby, had recently spent the night at her home. They talked about their mother, even though they were processing the loss differently.

“She’s in a pretty different place than I am right now,” Ashley said. “And we don’t have to be congruent in order to have compassion for each other, and I think that that’s a really important grace that family members can hopefully learn to give each other.”

That support stood in contrast to rumors that surfaced later that year.

Wynonna Denied That Naomi’s Will Had Divided Them

In August 2022, NBC News reported that Naomi had named her husband, Larry Strickland, executor of her estate, giving him broad authority to manage its assets.

The will, prepared on November 20, 2017, was signed by witnesses who testified that Naomi was “of sound mind, memory and understanding and not under any restraint or in any respect incompetent to make a Last Will and Testament.”

Under the document, Strickland was entitled to “reasonable compensation” for his services, along with reimbursement for legal, accounting, and other expenses.

Naomi also made provisions in case her husband could not serve.

She named her brother-in-law, Reginald Strickland, and Daniel Kris Wiatr, president of the accounting and business management firm Wiatr & Associates, as alternate co-executors.

The report noted that it was unknown whether Wynonna or Ashley were named as beneficiaries. Wynonna addressed speculation about a dispute between the sisters in an October 2022 interview.

“There is no argument,” she said. Wynonna said she first learned about the rumors while visiting Ashley’s home. Someone told her that reports were circulating about a feud between the sisters, leaving her surprised and confused by the claims.

“Fighting over what? I have such a great life. Ashley has a great life. Why would we be fighting over the will?” she asked. Instead, Wynonna said losing their mother had brought them closer.

“I feel like we’re connected in a way that is so different because I’m an orphan,” she explained. “Both my parents are gone, and I’m relying on Ashley. She’s relying on me in a different way that’s about compassion.”

She also revealed that they had worked with a life coach to improve their communication through “communication, compromise and compassion.”

Despite their disagreements, Wynonna described her bond with Ashley in unusually strong terms. “The relationship I have with my sister is the most powerful in my life,” she said.

But their efforts to reconnect came after decades of complicated family dynamics.

Wynonna Says She Was Ashley’s ‘Sister Mommy’

The sisters grew up with Wynonna taking on household responsibilities while Naomi worked to support the family. Their mother later acknowledged that her relationships with her daughters were different.

In a December 2016 interview with Good Morning America, Naomi discussed how Ashley had supported her during treatment for severe depression. She recalled walking to Ashley’s nearby home for comforting hugs.

“Ashley and I are so stinkin’ much alike,” Naomi said. She also acknowledged that she and Wynonna were “a little estranged” and had attended therapy together.

Wynonna later explained how her responsibilities during childhood had affected her relationship with Ashley.

During a May 2025 appearance on “Talking in Circles with Clint Black,” she recalled managing much of the household while Naomi worked as a nurse. “I did all the chores, the driving, the cooking…and I raised Ashley,” Wynonna said.

She explained that Ashley had a nickname for her because of their unusual roles. “That’s why we have such a funny relationship ’cause she calls me ‘sister mommy’ and I’m a little bit sad about that ’cause I didn’t get to be her sister,” she said.

Wynonna remembered learning to drive young and being placed in charge of responsibilities beyond her years.

“I was responsible for a lot. And she put me in charge. And that’s just the way it was. You grow up with a single parent, what are you gonna do? So, we made it though, didn’t we?” she explained.

Still, she has fond memories of their childhood. Her album “The Hard Truth,” her first new solo record in more than a decade, includes “Kentucky Queen,” a song recalling their early years in the mountains.

“I remember the good times with Ashley, and the times we were hungry,” Wynonna said. “We made up for it in music and fellowship and food. So we had what we needed most of the time.”

As the sisters grew older, their lives took increasingly different directions.

What Created More Distance Between the Sisters?

Wynonna and Naomi found success as the country duo the Judds, while Ashley pursued acting, earning recognition for her performance in the 1993 film “Ruby in Paradise.” Looking back during her interview with Clint, Wynonna said their careers had taken a toll on their relationship.

“Ashley’s doing well. I don’t see her very much, and we’re not as close as I’d like to be, but that’s because success took us away from each other,” she said. “It’s a funny thing. There’s a bit of a sadness because being famous takes you from home.”

Wynonna had also discussed their limited contact in an interview with Dan Rather, featured in an AXS TV video in April 2025.

Rather noted that family members had lived on the same farm property in separate houses but seldom saw one another. Wynonna acknowledged their unusual circumstances before describing her relationship with Ashley.

“She and I are very different. We don’t communicate, nor do we spend time together,” she told Rather. Recalling how their lives diverged when Wynonna was 18 and Ashley was 14, she added, “And that’s a long history of being apart.”

What’s Keeping Wynonna and Ashley Apart Now?

Wynonna’s latest interview reveals where their relationship stands after those earlier efforts to grow closer.

“We’re taking a break, which all families can relate to. She’s doing her thing, and I’m doing mine,” she said. But Wynonna did not identify a new argument or particular incident behind their current separation.

When discussing why they rarely see each other, she pointed to Ashley’s schedule. “She just travels a lot. She’s always gone,” Wynonna said. “It’s nothing specific.“

Although the sisters are spending time apart, Wynonna does not appear to consider their break permanent.

She has acknowledged wishing they were closer, and her latest comments suggest she still expects their relationship to change. When asked whether she believes she and Ashley will reconnect, Wynonna Judd answered: “absolutely.“

Hayden Panettiere Opened Up About the Dark Side of Growing Up on Screen — Including a Disturbing Encounter with a Famous Man She Kept Secret for Years

Behind the glittering red carpets and bright television lights lay a disturbing reality that nearly consumed former child star Hayden Panettiere before she reached adulthood.

For decades, Hollywood presented her as the ultimate golden girl, but off-camera, she was quietly navigating a web of dark secrets and high-stakes pressure.

Just three months before her untimely passing, the beloved actress stepped forward to expose the troubling truths, harrowing betrayals, and shocking industry incidents that defined her early years.

Police Confirm Investigation Into Her Death

Panettiere died on August 16, 2026, at age 36. Her father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed her passing in a statement Sunday night, five days before what would have been her 37th birthday. “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” he said, according to a statement obtained by NBC News.

Police in Greenville, South Carolina, said officers and EMS personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at around 1:50 p.m. Sunday. She was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Panettiere. An acquaintance had placed the 911 call.

Investigators said the preliminary findings had not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances, but the case remains under review by the Greenville Police Department alongside the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

A Book She Wrote Without a Script

Weeks before her death, Panettiere had been speaking openly about her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.” She told Entertainment Weekly that writing it left her both proud and terrified, since it was the first project of her life where nobody was there to direct her.

“This was the first project where there was nobody there to direct me or give me real guidance,” she said. She explained that the book, released May 19, 2026, was her chance to finally tell her story in her own words after decades of tabloid narratives written about her.

“I get to tell people the truth,” she said. “I get to tell them what really happened, and what really happened is generally more entertaining than anything that anyone could come up with.”

The book traces her earliest days in commercials at eight months old through her soap opera years on “One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light,” and into the roles that made her a household name, including “Heroes,” “Nashville,” and the “Scream” franchise.

In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Panettiere revealed she had negotiated a no-kill clause for her character in the “Scream” franchise, though it took several films before producers brought her back into the fold.

She also discussed losing an endorsement deal with Neutrogena after speaking publicly about her postpartum depression, a decision she called baffling given that companies cannot legally terminate contracts over a medical condition.

“That’s not a moral thing, that’s just a scientific thing,” she said of the company’s morality clause. “You cannot legally fire somebody for having postpartum depression. It’s not a choice I made. It wasn’t my fault.”

Learning to Cry on Command

Panettiere told EW she had her first identity crisis at age 12, caught between the characters she played and the person underneath them. “Who am I outside of this acting world?” she remembered asking herself.

To hit emotional beats on set, she developed what she called “trigger tears,” a method of pulling from real pain to cry convincingly on cue. She said therapy later helped her see how much that technique had bled into her everyday life.

By the time she reached “Nashville” in 2012, the toll had deepened. “In order for me to get to those places mentally, I had to think of darker and darker things,” she said. “It was much easier when I was a kid.”

Pills Before the Red Carpet

During a May 2026 conversation on Jay Shetty’s podcast, Panettiere described an early moment that planted the seeds for years of struggle to come. Someone she deeply trusted, whose job was partly to protect her, handed her pills before a red carpet appearance to help her feel more confident.

She said she didn’t question it at the time because of how much she trusted that person. “I trusted them more than I ever trusted myself,” she said. “I wasn’t raised to trust myself except for my instincts as an actor.”

That trust, she explained, had been built through years of doing exactly what the adults around her told her to do, on set and off.

The Mother Who Was Also Her Boss

Panettiere told Shetty that her relationship with her own mother revolved almost entirely around work from the time she was a baby. “She was my boss,” she said. “That’s how I saw her.”

At 19, she asked her mother to stop managing her career so they could simply be mother and daughter. Her mother’s response, delivered during a lunch break on the set of “Heroes,” was three words: “You owe me.”

The two remain estranged. Panettiere said she has spent years chasing an approval that rarely came, even as she carried guilt over the toll her career took on her mother and younger brother. “I didn’t beg you to give me your life, to sacrifice all of this so that I could have this career,” she recalled wanting to say.

Boxed In by Paparazzi

Panettiere also described a level of public scrutiny that escalated as she got older, particularly after “Heroes” premiered when she was 16. She said photographers would box in her car while she was driving and once kicked the back of her leg outside a store just to catch her reaction.

To avoid being photographed, she said she would drive at reckless speeds to lose photographers, once losing control of a rental car and sliding directly into oncoming traffic before narrowly steering clear.

She also recalled lying down in the backs of taxis and hiding under yoga mats in friends’ cars just to get home unseen. “It was wildly dangerous,” she said. “How has this not changed?”

The Night She Kept Secret for Years

Panettiere told Shetty about a night at 18 that she said reshaped how she understood danger. A friend in the industry brought her onto a boat, where she was led into a small room and left alone with an older, undressed man she said was very famous.

She said there had been no warning signs beforehand; she had simply been having a good time before being walked downstairs. “It was as though it was presented as a surprise,” she said. “By the time I’d realized I was in danger, I was quite literally out to sea.”

Panettiere said the person who led her into the room, someone she had come to see as a protector, left immediately afterward. She described the man in the room acting as though the encounter was routine for him.

She said she waited for the woman who brought her there to leave before reacting. “That lion in me, that fire in me, my hair stood on end, and I became ferocious,” she said. “I was like, this is not happening.”

With nowhere to escape on open water, Panettiere said she bolted and hid wherever she could find on the boat. She said the experience taught her that nobody around her would be surprised by what had just happened. “I realized that there was nobody who was going to be empathetic to my situation,” she said, “that this was nothing new to them.”

Turning to Alcohol to Cope

Panettiere has said in past interviews that the pressures of performing, both on camera and off, eventually pushed her toward alcohol and substance abuse as a way to manage her depression.

The strain of playing Juliette Barnes on “Nashville,” a character whose struggles began to mirror her own, coincided with the years she says she drank most heavily to get through each day.

In an April 2023 interview with The New York Times, she recalled a moment when she no longer recognized herself. “My eyes were yellow,” she said, adding that doctors told her at 27 that her liver was failing and she was septic.

She would wake up shaking most mornings, she said, needing an entire bottle of alcohol just to get through the day, and would often swap in opioids to stave off drinking.

She left “Nashville” during its fourth season in 2015 to enter treatment, and later returned to treatment again in 2021 for eight months. By the time of that 2023 interview, she said she had been sober for almost two years and had deleted nearly every photo from her time deep in addiction, keeping just one as a reminder.

“To remind myself what I looked like,” she explained. “The fact that I thought I looked OK at that time is the scariest part to me.”

Her Final Flight Out of Los Angeles

One day before she died, Panettiere left Los Angeles, and she wasn’t alone. Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that she flew south from LA on Saturday with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. Sources said Hickerson’s family was aware of the trip.

The pairing carries weight. Hickerson and Panettiere’s relationship has been marked by turmoil dating back to 2018. In April 2021, he was sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, or girlfriend, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed to People.

Court records showed Hickerson faced eight charges tied to alleged abusive incidents between May 2019 and January 2020, including four counts of corporal injury on a cohabitant and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

He was also sentenced to four years of probation, 52 domestic violence classes, $500 in restitution, and a five-year protective order. At the time, Panettiere spoke out about the alleged abuse.

“I am coming forward with the truth about what happened to me with the hope that my story will empower others in abusive relationships to get the help they need and deserve,” she said. “I am prepared to do my part to make sure this man never hurts anyone again.”

Despite that history, the two remained connected. By March 2026, they were photographed together again, this time under very different circumstances.

The Health Issue She’d Been Managing for a Year

A source close to Panettiere told TMZ she had reportedly been complaining about back pain for the past year — a detail that adds new context to a scene captured just five months before her death.

In March 2026, Panettiere was photographed leaving Los Angeles International Airport on crutches, with Hickerson at her side rolling her carry-on.

Her representative addressed the sighting in a statement to E! News: “Hayden has been privately managing a temporary nerve condition, which is the reason she was seen using crutches. She is recovering well and is on the mend.”

Panettiere herself offered a brief explanation in footage obtained by TMZ as she loaded her luggage into a car. “Just had some pinched nerves in my lower back, but I’m feeling good,” she said. Sources close to the situation insisted at the time that despite stepping out together, Panettiere and Hickerson were “just friends.”

Her Statement Amid Claims She Abandoned Her Daughter

The years of addiction and depression also coincided with a decision that followed Panettiere for years: her daughter Kaya, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko, moving to live primarily in Europe.

The star also directly confronted painful public rumors regarding the custody arrangement of her daughter, Kaya. She forcefully shut down claims that she had willingly given away her child to live in Europe with ex Wladimir Klitschko. | Source: Getty Images

On Shetty’s podcast, Panettiere pushed back directly against claims that she had given up custody and walked away. “The idea that anybody would think that I would just give away my child and be okay with it is heartbreaking,” she said, “couldn’t be further from the truth.”

She explained that Kaya was roughly two and a half years old when Klitschko decided it would be best for her to live abroad, and that the decision devastated her at the time. “I went like a mother lion,” she said. “I would have burnt the world down for my child.”

By the time she felt healthy enough to fight the arrangement, she said, Kaya had already built a life abroad with friends, extracurricular activities, and fluency in multiple languages.

Pulling her out of it, Panettiere said, would have been selfish. “She in no way feels abandoned,” she said, “and that’s something that I’ve made sure to stay on top of and be very aware of.”

Why She ‘Sought Treatment’

The custody arrangement traced back to a period Panettiere described as one of the hardest of her life. She told Shetty she had been battling postpartum depression, anxiety, and substance abuse in the years following Kaya’s birth, and that she made the choice herself to get help.

“The misconception is that I have been in the past forced into treatment when, in fact, I have been the one who sought it out,” she said.

She described losing herself while trying to act her way through the depression, saying the people around her, including Klitschko, didn’t initially understand what was happening. What followed, she explained, was years of cycling through depression, anxiety, alcoholism, and substance abuse as she searched for a way out.

She left “Nashville” during its fourth season in 2015 to enter treatment. She re-entered treatment again in 2021 for eight months. By the time of that Times interview, she said she’d been sober for nearly two years.

Panettiere’s death comes just over three years after her only sibling, Jansen Panettiere, died unexpectedly at 28. The family confirmed at the time, in a statement to CNN, that a medical examiner cited cardiomegaly, or an enlarged heart, coupled with aortic valve complications as the cause.

Jansen had followed his sister into acting as a child, later building a career as a voice actor best known for playing Shovelmouth in 2006’s “Ice Age: The Meltdown.”

Panettiere spoke about the toll of that loss in a September 2024 appearance on Today, admitting she still wasn’t sure she’d fully processed it. “When you lose somebody that you saw in all the important moments in your life, standing right next to you, it just rocks your world,” she said. “I want to leave this world a better place in his name.”

She later told EW that writing about Jansen in her memoir was the hardest part of the entire process, even harder than revisiting her own addiction or the boat encounter she’d kept quiet for so long.

Her Final Public Moment

One month before she died, Panettiere shared what would become her last Instagram post. On July 27, she posted a black-and-white photo of herself with friend Randall Slavin, his arm around her as she stuck out her tongue for the camera.

“Good times and good friends,” she captioned it. Slavin commented underneath at the time: “Love this. Good times babe. Xxx.”

It now stands as one of the last glimpses of Panettiere before her family confirmed her death on August 16, just months after she finally told her own story in her own words.

Hayden Panettiere’s Ex Brian Hickerson Was with Her When She Died — Police Report Reveals Who Else Was in the Room

Shocking new law enforcement records reveal that Hayden Panettiere was not alone in her final moments, uncovering a secretly crowded apartment and surprising physical evidence.

Millions of fans were devastated when the 36-year-old actress passed away suddenly during a trip to South Carolina. However, newly released official documents prove her final hours involved far more than a simple solitary getaway.

First responders stepped into a tense, chaotic environment featuring a reunited ex, a tearful unexpected family member, and a critical item handed over to police. The unfolding timeline reveals dramatic twists about who stayed by her side until the very end.

Emotional Scene Exposes a Secret Reunion and Third Person

While the public believed Hayden was staying by herself, her on-again, off-again partner, Brian Hickerson, was secretly right by her side.

The former couple had quietly rekindled their relationship, keeping their shared trip entirely off the public’s radar until tragedy struck. According to a heavily redacted police incident report, Brian was not the only person in the room.

The document discloses that his brother, Zach Hickerson, was also present as paramedics attempted to save the star.

Responding Officer Matthew Bryan observed that Zach was “very emotional” during the medical response, whereas Brian did not show visible emotion until after she was pronounced dead.

Critical Physical Clues Handed Straight to Investigators

As law enforcement began securing the residence, Brian made a critical move that could change the direction of the investigation. He presented responding officers with a mysterious “bag of medication” that Hayden was reportedly taking before she collapsed.

Although an autopsy found no signs of physical trauma, her official cause of death remains pending while Officer Bryan’s body camera footage undergoes official review.

As we previously reported, witness accounts and dispatch audio helped trace Panettiere’s final hours in Greenville, though one major question remained unanswered: why she was there in the first place.

Hayden traveled from Los Angeles to South Carolina on Saturday. Less than a day later, she was pronounced dead inside a home rental at 36.

Witness accounts, dispatch audio, and new photos now trace Hayden Panettiere’s final hours in Greenville, but one major question remains unanswered: Why was she there?

August 15, 2026: Hayden Arrives at a Greenville Rental

Hayden flew from Los Angeles to South Carolina on Saturday, with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, TMZ detailed in its account of her death.

She stayed at a unit in Judson Mill Lofts in Greenville. Page Six confirmed the apartment was being used as an Airbnb rental. A resident of the complex said they did not see Hayden leave the unit after she arrived.

“I was shocked, as I’m sure everyone in Greenville was, to find out she was here,” the neighbor told the media.

August 16, 2026: A Friend Calls 911 After Hayden Is Found Unresponsive

A friend called 911 at 1:51 p.m. Sunday to say Hayden was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest.

Emergency medical workers responded and began trying to revive her. Paramedics performed chest compressions and advanced cardiac life support.

A photo shared by TMZ on X showed a fire truck and ambulances outside the complex. The same outlet said another image showed a Greenville County coroner’s vehicle in front of the same building.

A resident separately recalled that police had been at the property from around noon.

Dispatch Audio Reveals What Responders Were Told

The dispatch audio added more detail about what emergency crews were being told as they responded. The patient was described as an “unidentified female” in “cardiac arrest.”

Within minutes, the audio indicated that CPR was in progress for an “overdose.” Medics were also described as being sent to perform CPR on someone who had overdosed.

Those details reflect information communicated during the emergency response. An overdose had not been established as Hayden’s official cause of death in the reports provided.

Resuscitation Efforts End at the Greenville Apartment

Despite efforts to revive her, Hayden Panettiere was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. Police said there were no initial signs of foul play, and the circumstances surrounding her death did not appear suspicious.

The Greenville County coroner was expected to determine the official cause and manner of death. Outside the apartment, the neighbor watched the response continue.

The neighbor noticed two unidentified men sitting with the police and said they appeared shaken. “They looked like they were in shock, not speaking, and had their heads down,” the neighbor said.

Police Remain at the Complex Into Sunday Evening

Police remained at Judson Mill Lofts until about 8 p.m., based on the neighbor’s account.

The arrival of the coroner’s vehicle made the seriousness of the situation clear. “The coroner vehicle showed up and, of course, I knew then that there was a death,” the resident told Page Six.

Hayden Panettiere Reflected on What Her Childhood Career Had Cost Her

Hayden had spent much of 2026 speaking publicly about her life with unusual openness. On May 15, she discussed her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” during an interview with NPR’s Sacha Pfeiffer.

The actress, who was born on August 21, 1989, in Palisades, New York, traced her career back to infancy, telling NPR that she began baby modeling at 8 months old and filmed her first commercial at 11 months.

The interview focused less on career milestones than on what that childhood cost her. Hayden said she often felt caught between an adult professional world and the childhood she wanted to experience.

“I desperately wanted to fit in. That’s what I wanted more than anything,” she said, recalling that she wanted friends her own age, school and sports.

She also spoke about the emotional demands of acting. As a child, Hayden became known for being able to cry on cue, but she said the mental places she had to reach became darker as she grew older.

By adulthood, she said, moving in and out of emotionally intense characters became more difficult. Her experience on “Nashville” was especially complicated.

Hayden told the outlet that storylines involving strained family relationships, postpartum depression, alcoholism and drug addiction increasingly mirrored struggles in her own life. “I stopped being able to tell where the character started and where, you know, I ended,” she said.

Her Final Months Included Candid Reflections on Motherhood and Healing

On May 26, Hayden appeared at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles for a book signing and panel tied to her memoir, according to People.

During the conversation, she spoke about people who had approached her after hearing her discuss mental health, telling her that her openness had encouraged them to seek help.

For Hayden, those encounters shaped how she thought about the impact she hoped to leave behind. “I was like, This is worth it. I can hopefully leave the world a better place than I found it,” she said.

In a July cover interview with parenting outlet Momé, Hayden spoke candidly about motherhood and the difficult decisions she had made for her daughter, Kaya.

She discussed Kaya’s life-threatening birth, her experience with postpartum depression, and the decision for her 11-year-old daughter to primarily live with her father, former boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

“I’ve been able to put her first no matter how I’ve felt or what I’ve experienced,” Hayden said. She hoped “one day she’ll understand my story, and why I wasn’t able to be with her all the time.”

Hayden also reflected on where she was in her own life at the time of the interview. “I’m a work in progress — we all are,” she said. “I take each day as it comes. I’m doing the work, and I’m doing my best.”

She closed the interview with a message for other mothers facing difficult periods: “You’re stronger than you know. And you’re going to be just fine.”

Her Last Instagram Post Became a Place for Farewells

In the weeks before her death, Hayden shared what would become her final public Instagram post.

Published July 27, the black-and-white photo showed her smiling with photographer and director Randall Slavin. Hayden tagged him and added a sparkle emoji. “Good times and good friends,” she captioned the post.

After news of her death emerged, actress Selma Blair left several emotional messages beneath it, according to The Independent. “I love you. Don’t be gone. Don’t be gone. Please. Please,” Selma wrote.

In another comment, she called Hayden “whale tail my friend.” She later added, “I’m dying. Please be here.”

Randall also returned to the July 27 image. He reposted the black-and-white photo to his Instagram Story and wrote, “Peace be with you, H.”

“Bring It On: All or Nothing” star Emme Rylan shared a separate Instagram Story featuring a black-and-white portrait of Hayden marked “1989-2026.” Emme expressed her sadness over Hayden’s death and paid tribute to her as a “sweet soul.”

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) also paid tribute to Hayden in an Instagram post, noting that she had been a member of the union since 1994.

“We join in mourning the sudden passing of Hayden Panettiere. Starting as a child actor, Hayden’s long career in TV and film included memorable roles in ‘Heroes,’ ‘Nashville’ and more. Our hearts are with her daughter, family, friends and fans. May she #RIP. 🕊️,” the union wrote.

Times Square Stabbing Suspect’s Brother Feared the Worst When He Saw the News — What She Said to Officers Before the End

Patrick Peralta was watching coverage of a deadly Times Square stabbing when photographs revealed a connection he had not expected: the woman confronted by police was his sister.

Just two days before the August 31, 2026, violence in New York, Pamela Cisneros had told her family she was “fine.” Patrick’s disbelief deepened as the television images showed him what had happened next.

Her Brother Realized Who He Was Seeing on the News

Patrick, 59, told The New York Post that he last saw Pamela in person on August 10, when the family gathered for their stepfather’s birthday.

Pamela regularly visited their mother, Patrick said, but those visits stopped shortly before the attack. “There was no sign something was wrong,” Patrick said. “Last week she stopped coming to see my mother.”

The family reached Pamela by phone shortly before Monday’s violence. “We called, she said she was fine on Saturday.”

Two days later, Patrick encountered his sister again in a way he could not have expected: while watching television coverage of violence near Times Square.

At first, he brushed off the reports as “typical New York crap.” His reaction changed after photographs from the police confrontation appeared. He recalled:

“That’s when I found out, then I was concerned. I was hoping it wasn’t her.”

Patrick also struggled to reconcile what he saw with his previous experiences with Pamela. “She never showed any aggressiveness or being violent. I don’t know what happened,” he said.

Pamela Had Struggled With Her Mental Health but Found Some Stability

Patrick said his 49-year-old sister had a history of mental health struggles. He was uncertain about the full details of her diagnosis. “I think bipolar, but I don’t know what else was going on,” he said.

Pamela had also experienced postpartum depression after the birth of her second child and attempted suicide several years earlier, according to Patrick.

In recent years, Pamela had been receiving monthly injections as part of her treatment. Patrick said the medication had helped bring some stability to her life.

After Monday’s attack, he questioned whether there had been a change in that treatment. “I think maybe she stopped the injection she was getting and that caused her to act the way she was,” Patrick said.

Sources cited in the report described previous encounters involving Pamela. Police responded to a mental health call in December 2018, when sources said she was intoxicated, screaming, and belligerent on Lexington Avenue. In March 2019, she attempted suicide by jumping in front of an E train in Queens, according to sources cited in the report.

Pamela Cisneros was also a mother of three. Patrick said two of her daughters lived in Florida with their father, while another daughter, who is autistic, lived in a Brooklyn care home.

Two Stabbings Led Police to Pamela Cisneros Near Times Square

Pamela was carrying two kitchen knives in a red Target bag when the violence began Monday afternoon, police said. She first stabbed a man named Tak Kam near West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue.

She then walked about a block before stabbing 32-year-old Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America executive from New Jersey. Both victims were stabbed in the abdomen.

Police subsequently tracked Pamela to an area about a block away, behind the New York Police Department (NYPD) substation. There, officers encountered Pamela while she was still holding the two knives.

Video of the confrontation, captured around 4:30 p.m., showed police trying to stop her with stun guns as she moved her arms around with a knife in each hand. The stun guns did not stop her, and Pamela continued approaching the officers.

What Pamela Cisneros Said as Officers Tried to Stop Her

As the armed confrontation continued, officers ordered Pamela to put down the weapons. The suspect reportedly told them:

“I’m not dropping anything; I would rather kill both of you. I will kill you.”

Police eventually shot Pamela as she continued approaching them. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she later died from her wounds. Meanwhile, Erin and Tak were reportedly taken to the same hospital, but Erin died from her injuries while Tak survived.

As previously reported, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch later described the stabbings as a “random and unprovoked attack,” according to CBS News. “At this point in the investigation, we have no reason to believe this incident was an attack of terrorism,” she said.

The First Victim Was Visiting From Rhode Island

Before Tak was named by The Post, earlier reporting identified him as the 68-year-old man who had exited the subway and was waiting with his wife to cross the street near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue.

Tak is from Rhode Island and was believed to have been visiting family in New York, according to ABC7 New York. His next-door neighbor, August DiMartino, spoke about the attack after learning what had happened.

“Absolutely terrible, to just find out that something that horrible can happen to somebody that close to you really makes the community seem vulnerable,” August said.

ABC7 also spoke with the victim’s family by phone Tuesday. The family declined an interview but provided a brief update on his condition. “He seems fine,” they said. The man was released from Bellevue late Tuesday afternoon.

While Tak recovered from his injuries, Erin’s death prompted new attention to the career and life she had built before the attack.

Silver Rail Elementary School Shooting: 911 Calls Reveal First Moments of the Attack That Left 5 Dead in Bend, Oregon

Five people, including three children, died in a shooting at an Oregon elementary school after a series of 911 calls brought police to the scene within minutes.

The first 911 call reported gunfire directed at a vehicle outside Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend. Within moments, other callers reported that the gunman had entered the school, setting off an emergency response that would unfold in just minutes.

The shooting on Thursday, October 15, 2026, left five people dead, including three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a teacher, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB).

Two other people, ages 7 and 54, were hospitalized. Their conditions were not immediately reported. OPB’s report did not identify the victims by name.

The first 911 call came at approximately 12:59 p.m. Within three minutes, officers had reached the school. A nearby resident’s account and later police statements provide a closer look at how those minutes unfolded.

A Neighborhood Walk Was Interrupted by Gunfire

Bend resident Leah Schwartz was walking with her husband and dog near Silver Rail Elementary when she heard sounds she could not immediately identify.

During an interview with NBC News, Schwartz described the routine outing and the first sounds that interrupted it.

“We were just on our usual afternoon walk. My husband and my dog and I, we heard about three gunshots,” she told Hallie Jackson.

Schwartz said she initially wondered whether the noise might have come from nearby construction, so they continued walking. Then came three more shots, followed shortly afterward by sirens.

The significance of what she heard became apparent after she returned home and saw news coverage of the shooting. “It’s just really heartbreaking,” Schwartz said.

The First 911 Caller Reported Being Shot At

At 12:59 p.m., a person inside a vehicle called 911 to report being shot at multiple times, Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz said during a Thursday news conference, according to OPB.

The Bend Police Department‘s initial statement described the first report as an unknown man shooting into a car.

About a dozen additional 911 calls followed, reporting that a shooter had entered Silver Rail Elementary School. Dispatchers alerted law enforcement at 1 p.m. The school entered lockdown at 1:01 p.m., according to Krantz.

Within two minutes of the first emergency call, the reports had shifted from gunfire directed at a vehicle to a shooter inside an elementary school.

The Suspect Entered Through Locked Doors

The later police briefing provided an important detail about how the suspect gained access to the school. According to OPB, Krantz said the suspected shooter entered by firing at locked doors.

Officials said the suspect used a long gun, a firearm category that includes rifles and shotguns. They did not specify the weapon’s exact type. Authorities also had not established where the suspect went inside the building before being killed.

The first Bend Police officers arrived at 1:02 p.m., approximately three minutes after the initial emergency call. A CBS News 24/7 report included an assessment that the incident unfolded within “maybe 6 minutes.”

By the time officers reached the school, another encounter involving the suspect had already begun.

A Community Member Followed the Suspect Into the School

Moments after officers arrived, an officer reported that the suspected shooter had been shot.

Bend Police initially raised the possibility that a bystander was responsible. At a later news conference, Krantz gave a more detailed account of what officers had learned.

“Moments later, an officer reported that the suspect had been shot by a community member who had seen the suspect enter the school, and pursued him into the school and engaged him,” Krantz said, according to OPB.

Officials said the community member fatally shot the suspect after following him into the building. They did not immediately identify the person.

An emergency medical services radio dispatch captured an early, unconfirmed description of the person involved. “It looks like the shooter has been neutralized, possibly shot by a father at the school,” the dispatch audio said, according to CNN.

At the news conference, however, officials described the person only as a community member. They did not confirm whether the individual was a parent or had another connection to the school.

With the suspect dead, officers continued clearing the building and checking for victims.

Students Were Evacuated as Families Awaited Reunification

Bend-La Pine Schools arranged buses to transport students to Journey Church at 61303 S. Highway 97, where families and guardians were directed for reunification.

Officials asked the public to avoid both locations because of the large law enforcement presence.

As the district coordinated the reunification process, Superintendent Steven Cook addressed the tragedy in a statement released by the Bend Police Department. “We are stunned and heartbroken by this senseless tragedy,” Cook said.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the families and to everyone affected by this violence. No words can adequately express the grief our community is experiencing. Our immediate priorities are caring for our students and staff and assisting law enforcement and emergency responders,” Cook added.

At a 5:30 p.m. news conference, officials confirmed the deaths of three children, a teacher, and the suspected shooter. They also reported that two other people had been hospitalized, according to OPB.

The disruption extended into the following day. A notice posted on the Silver Rail Elementary School website announced that all schools would be closed on Friday, October 16. All activities and athletic events scheduled for that day were also canceled.

Suspect’s Age Emerges as Motive Remains Unknown

As more details emerged Thursday evening, officials had not publicly identified the suspected shooter. Four law enforcement sources told OPB that the suspect was a minor. One source said the suspect was 16 years old.

The sources requested anonymity because the information had not yet been made public. Authorities also said it was unclear whether the suspect had any connection to Silver Rail Elementary School.

Investigators Trace Firearm as Police Continue Their Work

Federal authorities also took steps to investigate the weapon used in the attack.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted an urgent firearm trace and received the results, NBC News reported, citing a source familiar with the investigation and crime scene. The report did not disclose what the trace revealed.

Bend police had completed active-threat training at a local high school in August, about two months before the shooting. Krantz addressed that preparation while discussing the department’s response.

“Unfortunately, this is something we train for on a regular basis, and we must,” Krantz added.

Investigators would also need time to examine the circumstances of the attack. “We will have a large police presence at Silver Rail Elementary School for the next several days as our officers continue to conduct a very thorough investigation so we get all the answers,” Krantz said.

Oregon Leaders Call for Action and Offer Support

Democratic Senator Ron Wyden addressed the shooting in a post on X, reflecting on its impact on the Bend community.

“My heart is with the victims of today’s shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School and their loved ones now facing the consequences of another school shooting in America,” Wyden wrote.

Fellow Senator Jeff Merkley said in a separate post that his team was monitoring developments. He expressed support for affected students and families and said no one should have to fear violence at school.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek praised school staff, parents, first responders, and the community member who intervened during the shooting. Speaking about the impact on Bend, she acknowledged the grief the community would face in the coming weeks.

“My heart is absolutely broken. Our hearts will stay broken in the days and weeks ahead. My daily prayers will be with this community, with the children, with the parents,” Kotek said, as reported by KVAL.

Kotek also recalled visiting Silver Rail Elementary nearly a year earlier and said state agencies were coordinating support for the community.

Her public response began with an Instagram statement saying she was monitoring the situation and thanking first responders. In a later post, she called on Oregonians to support one another and stressed that no community should have to experience such violence.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Christine Drazan also responded to the shooting, calling for action to prevent similar incidents. “My heart is with the students, families, teachers and staff facing an unimaginable tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend,” Drazan said, according to KVAL.
