A secondary school teacher from West Sussex, Tom revealed that almost none of his students even knew he could sing. When Tom began his rendition of “Writing’s on the Wall” by Sam Smith, the auditorium fell into a stunned silence. Questions Grow After One U.S. Service Member Was Recovered Off Morocco Coast as Search Continues

What began as a routine multinational military exercise in Morocco has now become a mystery, leaving many people online deeply unsettled. As more details emerge about where two missing U.S. soldiers were discovered, questions are only getting louder.

According to The New York Times, two American service members disappeared on May 2, 2026, near the Cap Draa Training Area along Morocco’s Atlantic coast.

The soldiers had been participating in African Lion 2026, a large-scale military exercise involving the United States, NATO allies, and several African nations.

Military Exercise Takes a Dark Turn

According to the publication, roughly 5,000 personnel from more than 40 countries had gathered for the annual operation, which ran from April 27 through May 8. The soldiers were later identified as First Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr. of Richmond, Virginia, and Specialist Mariyah Symone Collington, 19, of Tavares, Florida.

For days, rescue teams searched difficult coastal terrain using ships, drones, and ground crews as officials revealed only limited details about what had happened. Then the discoveries began.

First One Soldier, Then Another

Military officials first recovered Lamont Key Jr.’s remains from waters off the coast of southwest Morocco. Days later, American and Moroccan forces located Collington’s body inside a coastal cave less than half a mile from where officials believe both soldiers entered the ocean.

The Army said dangerous ocean conditions, steep coastal terrain, and the difficulty of reaching the cave complicated recovery operations. But it was the unusual circumstances surrounding the discoveries that immediately sparked intense speculation online.

The Hiking Trip That Raised Eyebrows

While officials have not publicly released a full timeline of events, unnamed U.S. military officials told The New York Times that the soldiers had reportedly been on an evening hike near the training range before the tragedy unfolded.

One official reportedly said at least one soldier may have fallen from a cliff into the sea. Another official said military personnel formed a human chain in an attempt to rescue the troops before a large wave swept at least one of them into the ocean.

The detail that one soldier was ultimately found in a cave while the other was recovered from the water quickly fueled growing online suspicion, with many social media commenters openly questioning whether the full story has been revealed.

Online Reactions Begin Pouring In

As details spread online, commenters flooded social media with theories, concerns, and emotional reactions. One commenter wrote on a Facebook post discussing the tragedy, “This matter should not be ignored. The circumstances around their death should be investigated.”

Others also pointed to the unusual details surrounding the recovery efforts. “This is so sad at the same time very suspicious………condolences to the both [sic] families,” another commenter wrote. One additional commenter bluntly stated, “Something is off, just know that.”

More questions surfaced under another Facebook discussion tied to the incident. “Sounds like there is more to the story. I heard on the news that they fell off a cliff. Comments on this post referenced she was saving someone from drowing. What is the real story [sic]?” one person wrote.

Another commenter shared condolences with both families, writing, “My condolence to both families and for allowing them serve our country I know it may be hard, but God don’t make no mistakes he gives life he takes life. He may not understand the God is in control. I keep both families in my prayers [sic].”

Remembering Specialist Collington

As speculation continued online, military officials also shared more about Collington’s life and service. The 19-year-old had recently been promoted and served as an air and missile defense crew member assigned to the 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment based in Ansbach, Germany.

She began active-duty service in 2024 and completed basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Capt. Spencer Grider described Collington in the Army’s statement as “an outstanding soldier whose unwavering enthusiasm and positive spirit uplifted every environment she entered.”

Both soldiers’ remains were eventually transported back to the United States aboard a U.S. Air Force plane.

Investigation Still Ongoing

For now, military officials continue to stress that the incident remains under active investigation. But with details involving an evening hike, dangerous cliffs, rough ocean waves, a rescue attempt, and a body discovered inside a coastal cave, many observers online remain unconvinced that the public has heard the full story.

And until investigators provide more answers, the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Kendrick Key Jr. and Mariyah Collington are likely to keep fueling speculation far beyond the shores of Morocco.

As investigators continue searching for answers in Morocco following the deaths of two U.S. service members during military exercises, another devastating tragedy involving American troops unfolded overseas on March 1, 2026 — this time tied to the rapidly escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor was killed when a drone struck a command center in Kuwait. The mother of two was only days away from returning home to her husband, Joey Amor, and their children. Instead, her family is now grieving her loss.

One of the First Casualties of a Rapidly Escalating Conflict

Nicole was among four U.S. soldiers killed in the Iran conflict on Sunday, March 1. The Pentagon released their names on Tuesday, March 3. She served in the Army Reserve in a logistics role, providing troops with essential supplies such as food, equipment, and other necessary items.

Speaking from their home in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, on March 3, Joey Amor said, “She was almost home. You don’t go to Kuwait thinking something’s going to happen, and for her to be one of the first — it hurts.”

After the U.S. and Israel carried out their military move against Iran, the country responded with attacks. Iran launched missiles and drones toward Israel and several Gulf Arab nations that host American forces. Kuwait was among the places targeted, and the strike there killed Nicole and the other service members.

Those who died also included Captain Cody Khork and Sergeant Declan Coady, who was promoted from specialist after his death. MajorJeffrey R. O’Brien and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan are also reportedly among those who perished in the attack.

All of the soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, a unit responsible for providing food, fuel, water, ammunition, and transportation equipment to support military operations.

Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll said, “These men and women all bravely volunteered to defend our country, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.” President Donald Trump also commented on the losses, “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That’s the way it is.”

A Family’s Final Hours Before the Deadly Strike

Outside her military service, Nicole enjoyed spending time in her garden. She liked making salsa using peppers and tomatoes she grew, often preparing it with her son, who is a high school senior. The 39-year-old also spent time rollerblading and riding bicycles with her fourth-grade daughter.

A week before the drone strike, Nicole had been moved away from the base to a building made from shipping containers that did not have defensive protection, Joey explained.

“They were dispersing because they were in fear that the base they were on was going to get attacked, and they felt it was safer in smaller groups in separate places,” he shared.

He said their last conversation happened about two hours before the attack. Nicole had been working long shifts, and the two had been messaging about her tripping and falling the night before. “She just never responded in the morning,” Joey said.

More loved ones have been deeply affected by this news. Here is a look at the lives, families, and achievements of the service members who were lost in these ongoing deadly attacks.

Sergeant First Class Nicole M. Amor

Sergeant Nicole had recently deployed to Kuwait after nearly 20 years in the military, with this likely to be her final tour, according to her brother, Derek Hoff. Before leaving in August, she appeared to be at a crossroads, balancing her military service with family responsibilities.

Her 18-year-old son was graduating from high school, and she wanted to be present for more of her nine-year-old daughter’s childhood.

Her brother noted that she had been close to moving on to the next chapter of her life, potentially retiring to spend more time with her children. “She just missed them. It was a yearning for her kids,” said Derek.

Nicole began her military career in 2005, joining the National Guard as an automated logistics specialist. She transferred to the Army Reserve a year later and was deployed to Iraq in 2019, followed by Kuwait, where her work focused on logistics.

“She knew what she signed up for, and she did it because she had a job and a duty,” said 42-year-old Derek of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Online, people have sent the family messages of support and sympathy.

One netizen shared a heartfelt prayer, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.” Another person reflected on the ultimate sacrifice, “So sad in the loss of your precious Nicole. The highest sacrifice she gave.”

Someone else asked for divine comfort, praying that her husband, children, and entire family find solace during the long nights of grief and the strength to face the days ahead.

Sergeant Noah Tietjens

Sergeant Noah left behind his wife, Shelly, and their teenage son, Dylan. The family lived together in the Washington Terrace mobile home park in Bellevue, a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska.

The Tietjens family shared a strong bond through martial arts, frequently attending classes together at Martial Arts International in Bellevue. Noah had earned certification as an instructor and harbored dreams of one day opening his own studio.

He achieved black belts in both Philippine Combatives and Taekwondo. Noah was also a devoted father, always cheering on Dylan at his black belt ceremony. When Dylan received a special award, he asked his father to come onstage so he could dedicate the honor to him.

According to the Philippine Martial Arts Alliance, the 42-year-old dedicated his time to teaching, mentoring, and guiding others through the discipline and leadership values.

His commitment to honor, discipline, service, and helping others was evident both on the mat and in his military service. Julius Melegrito, the owner of Martial Arts International, also described Noah as calm, confident, and soft-spoken, with a natural presence that reassured everyone around him.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Faith Melegrito, Julius’s wife, noted that Noah was invaluable in helping the studio implement social distancing and keep students safe, demonstrating leadership beyond the mat.

“He has this commanding presence and friendly aura around him. Since then, whenever we would have events, or he would be at the school, I would always feel more calm when he’s around, because I knew he would look at what’s needed and he would take care of it,” said Faith.

Nebraska officials recognized Noah’s sacrifice and service. Governor Jim Pillen ordered flags to fly at half-staff in his honor, noting the profound commitment Noah showed in defending his country and the lasting impact he leaves on his family and community.

Captain A. Cody Khork

Captain Cody, a resident of Lakeland, Florida, began his military journey in 2009 when he enlisted as a multiple launch rocket system/fire direction specialist in the National Guard. His family said that from a young age, he felt a calling to serve his country.

Cody joined the Army Reserve and participated in Florida Southern College’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program. In 2014, Cody was commissioned as a military police officer in the Army Reserve.

Over the years, he deployed to several locations, including Saudi Arabia in 2018, Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, in 2021, and Poland in 2024. Throughout his career, he received numerous honors for his service, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal, reflecting his dedication and achievements.

Cody was recognized by his family for his deep patriotism, sense of purpose, and commitment to serving something greater than himself. His life was defined by service, love for his country and family, and the example he set, leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of those he impacted.

His mother, Donna Burhans; father, James Khork; and stepmother, Stacey Khork, said in a statement, “That commitment helped shape the course of his life and reflected the deep sense of duty that was always at the core of who he was.”

In addition to his military career, the 35-year-old had a strong interest in history and earned a degree in political science. Socially, his family recalled that he was “the life of the party.” They added that Cody was charismatic and warm.

He was known for his infectious energy, generous nature, and deep concern for those who served alongside him and for everyone who knew him personally. Cody shared a close friendship with Abbas Jaffer for more than 16 years.

The Production Facility Lindsey Graham Visited Days Before He Passed

The senator’s final trip abroad has taken on new weight now that he is gone, and the place he chose to visit says a lot about where his head was in those last days.

Lindsey Graham, the longtime Republican senator from South Carolina, spent part of his final overseas trip walking through a facility most Americans have never heard of. What he saw there, and what he said about it afterward, is only now getting fresh attention in the wake of his death.

Why Graham Was Abroad To Begin With

Graham had traveled to Ukraine on an official visit, part of a trip that took him straight into the heart of Kyiv. While there, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, July 10, 2026, alongside his House colleague, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Emeritus Michael McCaul.

Additionally, Graham held a press conference where he announced something Washington had been waiting on for a while. He said he had struck a deal with the White House that President Donald Trump’s administration was ready to back.

“I’m pleased to announce that, as of about 30 minutes ago, we’ve reached agreement with the White House on a version of the Russian sanctions bill that they will support,” Graham told reporters.

The senator explained the agreement meant the legislation could now move forward and become law, giving Trump fresh tools to help end a war that is now in its fifth year. Graham added that once he got back to Washington, he planned to work with Senator Richard Blumenthal to bring Republican and Democratic leaders together to schedule a vote.

That announcement alone would have made headlines on its own. But the next stop on his itinerary is the part people are talking about now.

Inside The Facility That Left Him Stunned

The day after his press conference, on July 11, Graham visited a production facility belonging to SkyFall, a Ukrainian defense company that builds some of the most recognizable drones on the battlefield.

According to SkyFall’s own account of the visit, the senator was walked through the development and manufacturing lines for the heavy Vampire bomber drone, several versions of the Shrike FPV drone, and the P1-SUN, a system built to intercept Shahed attack drones.

Graham was not just shown finished hardware. The company also briefed him on technology still in development that has not yet reached the front lines, along with a training program that prepares pilots, technicians, and instructors to operate Ukraine’s growing fleet of unmanned systems.

What He Said On His Way Out Still Rings Loud

Graham did not hold back his reaction. He called the facility one of the most advanced operations of its kind in the world.

He went further, warning that it “would be a big mistake” for the United States to skip out on drone cooperation with Ukraine. Coming from a senator who had just spent his trip pushing a sanctions package through Washington, the comment landed as more than a passing observation.

A Final Trip That Reads Differently Now

None of this seemed unusual at the time. Senators visit defense facilities and hold press conferences constantly, and Graham has made no secret of his focus on Ukraine for years.

But the timing means his tour through SkyFall’s production floor, and his blunt assessment of what the United States stood to lose by staying on the sidelines, ended up being among the last public statements he made before his death.

As previously reported, Graham had spent more than three decades as one of the Republican Party’s most recognizable figures. After serving in the U.S. House beginning in 1995, he entered the Senate in 2003, where he became a leading voice on national security, foreign policy, immigration, and judicial issues.

Over the years, Graham evolved from a young congressman into one of Capitol Hill’s most familiar faces. His career included an unsuccessful 2015 presidential campaign before he later became one of President Donald Trump‘s closest allies in the Senate despite their once-contentious rivalry.

Away from politics, Graham often acknowledged that his personal life had taken a different path from that of many of his colleagues. In his autobiography, he wrote, “I’ve never married. I guess I attribute that to timing, too. The opportunity never presented itself at the right time, or I never found time to meet the right girl, or the right girl was smart enough not to have time for me.”

According to Men’s Journal, Graham dated a law school girlfriend named Debbie before later dating Carol, an Air Force JAG officer, and Sylvia, a Lufthansa flight attendant, while serving in Germany. After losing both parents as a young man, he also became the legal guardian — and later adoptive father — of his younger sister, Darline Graham Nordone.

Graham’s Sudden Death Followed by New Medical Details

His death prompted an outpouring of condolences from across the political spectrum. Trump remembered him as a “true American Patriot.” South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster called him “the fiercest of fighters for South Carolina and America.”

Sen. Tim Scott described him as “a true statesman.” Senator Blumenthal described him as a “strong-minded” lawmaker who “marched to his own drummer.”

“I was always impressed with his kindness to people we met along the way,” Blumenthal said in a statement. “We often differed, but he listened to me and others who might have opposing views and sought to bridge our differences.”

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said Graham “stood with Ukraine and in defense of democratic values.”

Only after those tributes began pouring in did officials reveal more about Graham’s final hours. His office initially described his passing as a sudden illness before later announcing that preliminary findings from the District of Columbia medical examiner determined he had suffered an aortic dissection, a tear in the inner layer of the body’s main artery caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Officials said a final death certificate will be issued after toxicological and microscopic testing is completed. Trump later revealed that he had spoken with Graham shortly before emergency personnel were called. The president said Graham told him he was “tired.”

“But other than that, he was fine,” Trump recalled, adding during another interview that the conversation “could’ve been his last call.”

Trump also shared how he learned of Graham’s death, telling Meet the Press anchor Kristen Welker, “I got a message about 1 o’clock in the morning from one of the people in his office that he had passed away. I just can’t believe it. He was like a member of the family to me.”

Judge Rules on Deportation of 5-Year-Old Liam Ramos and Family After ICE Detention – Details

The boy’s immigration case is drawing renewed attention after a quiet legal decision, as new developments and emerging details suggest there may be more behind how the situation unfolded.

Five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos faces deportation following a quiet court decision, as his lawyer raises concerns about how the case was handled.

His situation, which drew attention to immigration enforcement in Minnesota, took a decisive turn after a judge denied the family’s asylum claim, setting up a legal fight that could take months or longer. New details shed light on how the case reached this point.

What Led up to the Decision

As reported by People, an immigration judge ordered the deportation of Liam and his family on February 19, 2026, according to their attorney, Paschal Nwokocha. The decision was disclosed publicly on March 18 after the family shared the update.

Accoridng to MPR News, Liam’s family includes his 13-year-old brother, and his parents, Adrian Conejo Arias and Erika Ramos, who is pregnant with their third child.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), through spokesperson Lauren Bis, said Liam and his father received full due process and confirmed a final order of removal. The agency also claims his father entered the U.S. illegally in December 2024, a point the family’s attorney disputes.

Paschal said the family used a scheduled border appointment through the CBP One app, a Biden-era system designed to manage migrant entry. He explained:

“We know we need to enforce immigration laws of this country, but this is a family that entered the U.S. legally. They didn’t run or jump the border. They came into the country legally. They have obeyed all the laws as it applies to them, and the government seems to be in a rush to get them out, and we still don’t understand why.”

The lawyer urged authorities to show compassion, stressing that the family’s situation has unfolded in full public view and that they have already endured significant hardship.

The legal team has appealed to the Board of Immigration Appeals, asking that the case be returned to immigration court so the family’s asylum claim can be fully heard. The process could take months or longer, and if unsuccessful, the family could be deported to Ecuador.

But beyond the ruling, one issue stands out: the pace of the case. “Our concern in this case is the speed at which the government has been moving,” Paschal told the news outlet.

The latest development comes after earlier legal efforts signaled the government’s push to remove the family, raising new questions about what unfolded behind the scenes.

Family Details and Lingering Impact After Detention

MPR News also reported that the federal government filed a motion in early February seeking to end the Conejo Ramos family’s asylum claims, signaling a push to remove them from the United States. Nwokocha said the legal team secured additional time to continue fighting the case in court.

Although Liam returned home on February 1, his family said the experience had a lasting impact on his mental health. But that was only part of what was unfolding at the time.

Release from Detention Marked a Turning Point

In a Facebook post shared by Congressman Joaquin Castro, he revealed that Liam and his father had been released from a detention center in Dilley in late January. He also said he helped escort them back to Minnesota shortly after their release.

The update marked a temporary moment of relief, with Liam returning home and reunited with his belongings after the ordeal. That ruling follows earlier developments that revealed the conditions Liam faced while in detention.

As reported in January 2026, after Liam was ripped from his daily routine and thrust into a harsh new reality, he was staying in a detention center in South Texas, more than 1,300 miles from his Minnesota home.

The operation was carried out under the Trump administration’s renewed enforcement measures, leaving families fractured and communities reeling. Liam was left dealing with the emotional fallout, separated from his school, stripped of his belongings, and unable to understand why he could not go home.

Congressman Offers a Glimpse Into Liam’s Condition

During a recent visit to the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas, Congressman Joaquin found Liam asleep in his father’s arms. He delivered a sobering update via FaceTime to Jason Kuhlman, principal of Liam’s school, and CBS News correspondent Lilia Luciano.

Joaquin reported that the child had become noticeably withdrawn and distressed.

“He wasn’t in any kind of emergency,” Joaquin said, “but his dad did say that he’s been depressed, and hasn’t been eating especially well, you know, and has just been asking about when they’re going to get out and everything.”

The congressman said he assured Liam’s father that the boy’s classmates miss him and that his spot at school remains untouched, waiting for his return. He added, “[Liam’s] been asking about his classmates and wants to get back to them, to be with them soon.”

Favorite Backpack and Rabbit-Eared Hat Still Missing

Even more devastating, Liam repeatedly asked about personal items that ICE agents reportedly never returned to him, including his school backpack and his beloved rabbit-eared hat.

“He keeps asking about his backpack and his cap that they took,” Joaquin said. “I guess ICE didn’t give him back that backpack and his hat that he was wearing.”

The cap is a quirky and cherished part of his daily outfit. Jason recalled how the boy often wore it as he arrived at school each morning and again when he left at the end of the day, the bunny-ears flopping behind him as he walked the school halls. “That’s Liam. His hat is Liam,” he said.

It started as an ordinary morning drive, the kind thousands make without a second thought. But within seconds, a routine commute turned into a tragedy that has left an entire community shaken and asking painful, complicated questions.

What Happened on Whitefield Avenue

According to the Chatham County Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:45 a.m. to a crash on Whitefield Avenue at the Truman Parkway intersection.

The collision proved fatal for 38-year-old Dr. Linda Davis, who was transported to the hospital. The teacher was later pronounced deceased. The other driver survived with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the hospital, where the female driver was pronounced deceased. Lopez received non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other passengers in either vehicle,” the police department’s update read.

Authorities say 38-year-old Oscar Vasquez Lopez has been taken into custody and faces charges including reckless driving, driving without a valid license, failure to obey a traffic control device, and homicide by vehicle, 1st Degree. He is expected to be booked into the Chatham County Detention Center.

The Federal Pursuit

But here is where the story takes a dramatic turn. Police say Lopez was fleeing from federal Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers who were attempting to initiate a traffic stop. The Chatham County Police Department emphasized it was not involved in the DHS/ICE operation and was unaware of it until after the crash.

On its website, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement stated that Lopez, described as a “criminal illegal alien” from Guatemala with a final order of removal issued in 2024, fled after initially complying with a traffic stop.

ICE officials said he made a reckless U-turn, ran a red light, and collided with a civilian vehicle, killing the driver.

“This vehicular homicide is an absolute tragedy and deadly consequence of politicians and the media constantly demonizing ICE officers and encouraging those here illegally to resist arrest — a felony,” Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in the statement.

Less Than a Half-Mile From School

The crash site was heartbreakingly close to campus. According to the Associated Press, the crash happened less than a half-mile from the school. Though students were off for Presidents Day, teachers had reported to work, and Davis was driving to school when she was killed.

At Hesse K-8 School, Principal Alonna McMullen shared the devastating news with families. McMullen wrote:

“I wanted to make our families aware that our school has experienced the death of a teacher, who was killed in a traffic accident this morning just outside the school. Dr. Linda Davis was a beloved member of our school family, and her loss has affected us deeply.”

“The students and staff will react in different ways to the death of one of our school community members. We all should expect and try to understand that there will be a variety of emotions and responses to what has occurred. The most important thing we can do is to be supportiveand encourage an open expression of feelings,” she added.

“At the school, we have implemented a plan for responding to this tragic event focused on helping our students and their families get back to regular learning and every day activities as soon as possible. Our teachers and counselors have been briefed on our plans and have received guidelines for discussing about death and reactions to it.”

“There will be district counseling personnel available to students and staff who need special attention and support. We will try to maintain as normal a routine and structure as the situation allows, and we encourage you to do the same,” the post continued.

The principal concluded the post by saying that if any child or family needed assistance, they should contact the administration, and the staff would do everything possible to help.

She added that the school was providing a resource to help parents speak with their child and encouraged anyone with questions or concerns to call 912-395-6440. She also expressed confidence that the community would join the school in sharing its concern and sympathy for the family.

Remembering Dr. Linda Davis

But to those who knew Davis, the headlines do not come close to capturing who she was. Lai Baldwin, a friend of more than 10 years, remembered her as a devoted mother, loyal friend, and passionate special education teacher.

“It was so unfortunate and um you know we just got to pull together all the pieces and try to keep going and keep her memory alive, and I will continue to say her name. Dr. Linda Davis, we love you,” Baldwin said.

Baldwin added, “Her smile was everything. She had the million-dollar smile. And whatever you were going through that day, you forgot about it because she smiled.”

The Moment That Changed Everything

And then came the detail that has left many in tears. Witness Katie Oakley was directly behind Davis at the time of the crash.

“I heard squealing tires. I heard a bunch of crash noises surrounding me. Um, I was able to look through my side mirror. I saw the truck jump the median,” Oakley recalled. Oakley believes Davis made a split-second move that saved lives:

“I am so sorry that she lost her life, but thank God she was there because she took the hit for us and she saved my whole family.”

Oakley was traveling with her toddler and is also pregnant. She took the hit for us. That single sentence has echoed throughout Savannah.

Marvin Johnson, who visited the hospital, described the grief inside. “A lot of tears, a lot of uh shock um you could often tell um particularly moments like that um about how uh people feel about you.”

Protests and Political Fallout

As mourning turned to outrage, protesters gathered in Forsyth Park, some holding signs reading “Dr. Linda Davis should still be alive,” and calling for ICE to be abolished. While many directed anger at federal immigration enforcement, Lopez’s wife spoke out in defense of her husband.

Police Search Nancy Guthrie’s Relative’s Neighborhood After Releasing Image of Possible Suspect

A quiet Tucson street is now the center of a high-stakes search, and a newly released image of the alleged perpetrator has only deepened the mystery.

Authorities converged on the neighborhood of Annie Guthrie, the sister of “TODAY” host Savannah Guthrie, just hours after releasing photos of a possible suspect tied to their mother’s disappearance.

Officials with the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were seen searching the area and knocking on doors on Tuesday, February 10.

The activity came shortly after officials made public images of what they described as an “armed” figure potentially connected to the case.

A Neighborhood Under Scrutiny

Law enforcement officers were first spotted at the home of Annie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, late on February 7.

That visit happened just hours after Annie and her siblings, Savannah and Camron Guthrie, shared a new video message addressed to their mother’s potential captor.

Annie’s property sits about four miles from Nancy Guthrie’s longtime Tucson home, the very place where authorities say she was taken in the middle of the night on January 31.

By Tuesday, investigators were back in the area, canvassing neighbors and seeking surveillance footage.

Tony Zaccagnini, 74, who lives nearby, said deputies approached him directly. “They didn’t ask for my phone number or nothing, but I got a camera set up around my property in the back and in the front,” Zaccagnini shared.

He added, “And they were there last week, asking to look at my cameras. We didn’t see nothing on it.”

Despite the visible activity by authorities, federal authorities are staying tight-lipped. “We’re not confirming anything at this time,” a Phoenix FBI spokesperson told People.

How the Search May Have Happened

Before officers searched Annie’s property, law enforcement would have needed legal clearance.

Tracy Walder, a former CIA and FBI special agent, said investigators “may have either asked Annie’s permission,” obtained a search warrant, or both.

That detail suggests the operation followed standard procedure, even as tensions remain high. Meanwhile, another development may point authorities closer to home.

A Tucson Connection?

According to TMZ, law enforcement sources believe the person responsible for Nancy’s abduction is likely from the Tucson area.

Multiple sources involved in the search told the outlet that notes sent after Nancy’s disappearance may contain clues about where the writer lives.

The first letter was reportedly sent to two Tucson TV stations and TMZ. The second went to just one Tucson station.

TMZ reports that authorities believe the writer was “very familiar with the local stations,” which has led to the working theory that the abductor lives in or near Tucson.

The outlet also reported that the individual promised to return Nancy to Tucson within 12 hours of receiving a six-million-dollar payment. That statement suggests the person holding her may be within a 700-mile radius of the city.

Two ransom deadlines have already passed.

Savannah publicly attempted to reach the payment and offered to pay the demand.

As of Wednesday, February 11, Nancy remains missing.

TMZ also reported that the images released Tuesday by the FBI were newly obtained and immediately shared with the public.

TV Star Jake Hall, 35, Shared Final Post Hours Before Tragic Spain Incident

“The family ask for privacy, compassion and respect while they grieve privately [sic],” a statement read.

Those heartbreaking words from Missé Beqiri’s representatives came as fresh details emerged surrounding the shocking death of reality TV star Jake Hall in Spain — and the story only becomes more unsettling the deeper it unfolds.

The former “The Only Way Is Essex” star, model, footballer, and fashion entrepreneur died in Majorca at the age of 35 after suffering catastrophic head injuries inside a rented holiday villa. But it was what happened in the hours before his death — and the haunting message he left behind online — that has left fans shaken.

From Reality TV Fame to Reinventing Himself

According to BBC News, Jake first rose to fame after appearing on “The Only Way Is Essex” in 2015, quickly becoming known for his confident personality, fashion ventures, and glamorous lifestyle.

Born in East London, Jake spent part of his childhood in Majorca, a place he often described as deeply personal. Over the years, he built a successful fashion brand, Prévu, worn by celebrities including Stormzy and Bella Hadid, before the company later collapsed.

Jake later launched another clothing label inspired by the island’s colors and scenery, and pursued art and sculpture after difficult business setbacks. Friends and fans had recently noticed a more reflective side to him online.

He also leaves behind his young daughter, River, whom he shared with former “Real Housewives of Cheshire” star Missé Beqiri.

A Luxury Villa, an All-Night Party, and a Morning of Chaos

As reported by The Sun, Jake had been staying at an upscale villa in Santa Margalida, Majorca, costing around £200 per night. The sprawling property featured two grand bedrooms, terraces, a courtyard designed for entertaining, and a private swimming pool.

Ironically, the booking listing reportedly stated that parties and events were not permitted there. Investigators believe the group had first been partying elsewhere before continuing the night back at the rental property during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the villa at around 7:30 a.m. after reports of a serious incident inside the home. Authorities are currently investigating what Spanish Civil Guard officials reportedly believe may have been a tragic accident involving a glass door inside the property.

Witnesses Describe a Night That ‘Turned Aggressive’

The atmosphere surrounding the final hours of Jake’s life has become even more disturbing after witness accounts surfaced. A source told investigators:

“Witnesses told investigators he had been out partying all night and decided to carry on the booze-filled rampage back at the place he was renting. It appears from what police have been told that he became agitated, possibly from alcohol and other substances he may have consumed.”

The source also claimed things eventually “turned aggressive,” and Jake may have “tried to harm himself by banging his head against things.” Neighbors reportedly heard loud crashing noises coming from the villa shortly before emergency services arrived.

One local resident told Spanish newspaper Ultima Hora they heard “a very loud noise, as if they were drilling something,” while another said the walls were vibrating from the disturbance.

Police have reportedly questioned four men and two women who were staying at the house, although no arrests have been made. An autopsy is still pending as the investigation continues.

The Spanish Civil Guard is leading the investigation. An FCDO spokesperson reportedly said, “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”

The Chilling Final Instagram Post

Just hours before the tragedy, Jake shared what would become his final Instagram post — and many fans now believe the words carry a devastating weight in hindsight.

Set to the Rolling Stones’ “Beast of Burden,” the video showed Jake painting, traveling through Spain, and reflecting on life through his artwork and fashion.

“Life is bollocks sometimes, but I’m gonna try remember the good things – ✨⚡️ looking through things – I’m just making art – in many forms.”

The emotional message has since flooded social media feeds as fans revisit the post after news of his death broke.

A Previous Near-Death Experience Resurfaces

Adding another heartbreaking layer to the story, fans also rediscovered an Instagram post Jake shared on August 20, 2025, where he reflected on surviving a terrifying near-death experience years earlier.

Jake Hall lies in a hospital bed, giving a thumbs-up while connected to medical monitors and wires, covered with white sheets during his recovery in the opening image of the resurfaced post.

In the deeply personal message, Jake wrote, “REFLECTION 🎂 – here woke of from death – stabbed in the back literally – here could have gone 2 ways when i got out this bed I decided to put hurt and pain many other things to into – creating [sic].”

“- HERE i had a deal with god to turn everything i do into pushing forward – one step back 2 forward – im 35 today a lot happened wow alots happened – AND WANT MORE – like I said back then you can’t get rid of me that easily [sic],” he continued.

Iowa Family Tragedy Survivor Shares Heartbreaking Words About His Father

“It’s hard to even think that this is even real. I’m still in denial,” a grieving survivor admitted as he addressed mourners following the devastating loss of nearly his entire immediate family.

As residents gather to mourn, newly revealed details from the hours leading up to the killings have added another haunting layer to an already heartbreaking story.

Authorities say the violence unfolded around 12:12 p.m. local time Monday in Muscatine, where six people were killed in what police described as a domestic-related shooting spree involving members of the same family.

According to police information reported by 6ABC, officers responded to multiple locations across the city after reports of gunfire. Four victims were found dead inside one residence, while two others were later discovered at a second home and a nearby business.

“Today I simply do not have the words — this act of evil and what it has done to our community,” Muscatine Police Chief Anthony Kies said at a press briefing Monday.

Police identified the suspected gunman as Ryan Willis McFarland, 52. Authorities said Ryan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after officers located and confronted him near a trail along the Mississippi River.

“While talking to Ryan Willis McFarland, he took his own life,” Kies said. “Officers and EMS personnel rendered aid. However, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The police chief said the suspect has a criminal record, though he did not elaborate. There is no active threat to the community, Kies said. The homicides remain under investigation.

A Family Remembered

As investigators continued piecing together what happened, the identities of the victims began to emerge. According to KWQC, the six victims were identified as Lesa McFarland, Dakota Whitlow, Austin Harris, Ryle McFarland, Mark McFarland, and Ryan McFarland Jr.

Lesa, 51, worked in nutrition services at Susan Clark Junior High in Muscatine. Dakota, 32, leaves behind his fiancée, Audrey Perdue, and family members who are now mourning a future that was suddenly taken away.

Austin, 29, was remembered by loved ones as a kind and loving person. Family members said he spent seven years working at Musco Lighting and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Ryle, 20, had recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and was preparing to begin her teaching career in the fall. The university described her as a bright student with an exciting future ahead.

Mark, 16, had just completed his junior year of high school and was recognized by coworkers at Pizza Ranch as a valued member of the team. Ryan Jr., 13, had recently finished seventh grade.

The Chilling Words Heard Before the Violence

As the city mourned, a disturbing account surfaced about what allegedly happened shortly before the shootings began. According to the New York Post, neighbor Melissa Weggen said she overheard Ryan walking near her home roughly 10 minutes before the shootings. Weggen recalled:

“I heard him walk by my house, saying, ‘Don’t worry about money. Everything goes away when you die.'”

The statement has since become one of the most unsettling details to emerge from the case, raising even more questions about the events leading up to the killings.

Community Rallies Around Sole Survivor

In the aftermath of the killings, support has poured in for Johnathan McFarland, the sole surviving sibling. A GoFundMe campaign organized by a family friend, Austin Lawrence, described Johnathan as someone who was extremely close to his family and loved them dearly.

The fundraiser says he continues to endure unimaginable grief while receiving support from friends, loved ones, and the wider community.

During a vigil held Tuesday evening, Johnathan addressed mourners despite acknowledging how difficult it was to speak publicly. “I know this is a very tough time, not just for me. I just wanted to say that I will forever love and miss my mom, Lesa, my sister, Riley, my four brothers, Dakota, Austin, Mark, and Ryan,” he said.

“I am also incredibly thankful to have had such an amazing, loving, and caring family throughout my entire life. I will forever and always love and miss them dearly,” he said, adding that he would continue to honor their memories. His remarks offered a glimpse into the profound loss he is now carrying while also reflecting the deep bond he shared with his family.

The Remark That Left the Crowd Silent

Yet the most emotional moment came not from investigators or witnesses, but from the son left behind. At the vigil, Johnathan spoke openly about the family members he lost. Then, despite the enormity of what had happened, he shared a message that many in attendance may not have expected.

James “Jimmy” Gracey had been enjoying a spring break trip in Barcelona with friends. The 20-year-old University of Alabama junior was last seen around 3 a.m. Tuesday at the waterfront Shôko nightclub, according to NBC Chicago.

According to ABC 33/40 News, he became separated from his group at some point during the night.

“Unfortunately, he was separated from the rest of the group later into the night, and that was the last time we’ve heard from him,” a fraternity brother, Cavin McLay, said.

Another account added a quiet but unsettling detail. “He was with a friend who left earlier, but Jimmy decided to stay in the club but he never came back,” journalist Gisela Macedo said.

The Search That Followed

As hours turned into days, concern quickly turned into urgency. Authorities began retracing Gracey’s movements through Barcelona’s Vila Olímpica area, deploying helicopters and maritime units amid fears he may have entered the water, as reported by ABC 33/40 News.

“They are trying to figure out what exactly Jimmy did after he left and are reconstructing the timeline,” Macedo said.

But even as the search intensified, key details remained unclear — including conflicting reports about his phone. “We went into the station and they told us that they had his phone,” McLay said.

“Police don’t want to confirm if they have his mobile phone,” Macedo added.

The Moment Everything Changed

Then, near the very place he was last seen, something happened. On Thursday evening, March 19, 2026, a worker at Port Olímpic — just steps from the nightclub — ran toward police and pointed toward the water, according to Fox News.

Officers quickly cordoned off the area. Divers entered the water at around 7:05 p.m. local time and returned just minutes later with a body bag.

What they recovered would soon confirm the worst fears. “Mossos officers have located the lifeless body of a person in the water in the Somorrostro area,” the department reportedly posted on X. “Procedures are underway to identify the body.”

The Heartbreaking Confirmation

Authorities later identified the remains as belonging to Gracey. In a statement, his family confirmed the devastating news:

“Our family is heartbroken as we confirm that Jimmy’s body has been recovered in Barcelona,” the family said.

In their statement, his family went on to describe him as deeply loved, writing, “Jimmy was a deeply loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and our family is struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss.”

“We are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers from people around the world – so many helped to share Jimmy’s story and bring his life to light so that others may know him,” the statement added.

Even now, they are searching for answers. “We also sincerely appreciate the continued support and coordination of the local authorities and the U.S. Consulate as we work to better understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.”

That phrase — “we work to better understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy” — lingers because many questions remain.

The Questions That Still Haven’t Been Answered

What happened after Gracey left the nightclub? Who was he with? And how did he end up near the water? Investigators are still working to reconstruct his final movements, but for now, those critical hours remain unclear.

As investigators continue searching for answers, those who knew Gracey are holding on to something else — the memory of who he was beyond the headlines.

Who Was Jimmy Gracey?

Beyond the headlines and the unanswered questions was a young man whose life left a lasting impression. Gracey was an Honors Accounting student at the University of Alabama, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He was originally from Elmhurst and the eldest of five children, a role that meant he stepped up for his family in meaningful ways. According to CNN, the deceased was also an avid hockey player.

A Life Defined by Responsibility and Heart

Those closest to him describe someone who was both dependable and deeply caring. His aunt Beth O’Reilly said:

“He’s the greatest gift to our family. He is beloved by all of us. He’s very responsible. This is very out of character for him, always responding to texts.”

Friends said the same. “He’s the guy that’s always there when someone needs it,” McLay said.

His Community, His Impact

Gracey was also an active member of the Theta Chi Fraternity, where he served as chaplain and philanthropy chairman. In a statement reported by WBRC, the organization’s CEO, Mike Mayer, highlighted Gracey’s commitment to faith, brotherhood, and service.

“Jimmy serves his chapter as both chaplain and one of the philanthropy chairmen, demonstrating a true commitment to his faith, his brothers, and his community.”

How Weston Higginbotham’s Family Tracked His Final Known Movements in Japan — Full Timeline

“Please be kind. We are in our own living hell,” a mother pleaded as she searched for answers after her son vanished during a family trip to Japan. What followed was a days-long effort involving police, volunteers, surveillance footage, and a growing timeline that slowly narrowed down where the Auburn student had gone.

For days, James “Weston” Higginbotham’s loved ones followed every clue, chased every reported sighting, and searched dense mountain trails hoping for a different ending. Investigators, meanwhile, worked to retrace the Auburn student’s route through Kyoto using surveillance footage, train records, and phone data.

A Family Adventure Begins in Japan

Weston Higginbotham traveled to Japan with his family on May 25, according to information later shared by his mother, Nancy Higginbotham. The Alabama family had been exploring the country together when events took a devastating turn just days into the trip.

Nancy described Weston as an experienced traveler, an excellent navigator, and a college student studying environmental engineering. She also said he was passionate about sustainability and nature.

The Argument No One Expected

One of the most surprising details to emerge during the search involved a disagreement between Weston and his mother shortly before he disappeared. In an interview with NBC News, Nancy revealed that Weston walked away from his parents following an argument about ChatGPT.

According to her, Weston strongly opposed society’s growing dependence on artificial intelligence because of his environmental concerns.

“We had an argument because I was using ChatGPT too much to try to help us navigate the trip and find the best restaurants and do this and that,” Nancy said. “We try never to use it, and I totally agree with him. It was just a dumb, dumb argument to have,” she added during the interview.

Nancy said her son became emotionally distressed afterward, but stressed that she did not believe he posed any danger to himself or anyone else. “He’s such a pacifist. When he gets mad, he just likes [sic] retreat to himself,” she said.

May 29: The Last Confirmed Place

As investigators worked to retrace Weston’s movements, surveillance footage and phone data helped establish a timeline. According to ABC News 4 reporting and updates shared by Nancy, Weston was last confirmed in the Kyoto area on May 29, 2026.

His final confirmed purchase was reportedly made at a hardware store called Kohnan in the Kyoto area. Investigators later determined that Weston arrived at Kyoto Station at approximately 8: 15 p.m. His phone then reportedly lost network service around 8: 29 p.m.

The family said evidence suggested he had boarded a local train on either the Biwako Line or Kosei Line and was traveling east. The biggest breakthrough came when police reviewed surveillance footage. Nancy later revealed that authorities narrowed the search area after determining that Weston got off at Yamashina Station, located east of central Kyoto.

What happened after that remains unclear. Police could not confirm whether he boarded another train after leaving the station.

June 2: The Search Narrows Toward the Mountains

As investigators pieced together his route, attention shifted toward the nature-rich areas surrounding Yamashina. Nancy said Weston was an experienced hiker who may have intentionally headed toward nearby trails and mountain paths.

Among the areas identified by the family were Bishamon-do, Lake Biwa Canal, Misasagi, Keage, Nanzen-ji, the Kyoto Trail, Mount Otowa, and the Daigo region.

On June 2, Nancy shared an emotional update as the family intensified its search efforts. “Reddit has been my main lead source, and they have just taken down my posts. I need help. Spread this post, please,” she wrote.

As the search expanded, Nancy urged locals to check hotels, hostels, internet cafés, train stations, convenience stores, parks, temples, shrines, rivers, bridges, and hiking areas throughout Kyoto and neighboring regions.

She also shared more about her son, describing him as a vegan, an environmental engineering student, an excellent traveler, and a skilled navigator. “He is a vegan, in college studying environmental engineering and is an excellent student, very well travelled and an excellent navigator,” she wrote.

Nancy also revealed that she and her husband had already entered wooded areas near Yamashina during nighttime searches. “My husband and I went last night with flashlights and headlamps and didn’t get too far because we weren’t prepared for the wildlife we encountered,” she wrote. “If anyone wants to join us after the storm, I would be grateful.”

The mother ended her appeal with a heartfelt plea for compassion as rumors and online speculation spread. “Please be kind. We are in our own living hell,” she wrote.

Despite severe weather conditions moving through the region, Nancy vowed to continue searching the trails and forests where she believed Weston may have gone.

Support Pours In From Around the World

As Weston’s story spread online, support began arriving from across the United States and Japan. In a video update, Nancy thanked supporters for sharing information and keeping the search in the public eye. “We want to thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of love and prayers,” she wrote alongside the video.

During the recording, she told supporters that every repost could potentially help someone in Japan recognize her son. “We’re going to find him because of everybody’s help and posting and getting the word out so we can find the person who’s going to find him.”

June 3: Helicopters, Volunteers, and an Expanding Search

By June 3, search operations had grown significantly. Nancy reported that dozens of officers were searching on foot while helicopters scanned mountainous terrain north of Yamashina.

Particular attention focused on the hills behind Bishamondo and areas near Mount Otowa. “It’s 8: 45 p.m. on June 3rd. This was an unimaginably hard day. Unfortunately, the authorities did not find Weston today,” she wrote in her update.

Still, she praised the efforts of Japanese police, volunteers, the FBI, the U.S. Embassy, and government officials who assisted in the search. “The search resumes tomorrow as this is a large area,” she added.

New Sightings Raise Fresh Hope

Even as days passed without answers, new leads continued to emerge. On June 5, Nancy revealed that investigators were reviewing additional surveillance footage after reports suggested Weston may have been seen getting off at another station.

The possibility reignited hope. “We are waiting on additional CCTV footage because there have been several sightings of him getting off at a different station- another hikers paradise,” she wrote.

The family also received permission to launch its own search party in neighboring Shiga Prefecture. But each promising lead ultimately ended in disappointment. “We have chased so many leads that look very similiar to Weston, but they arent,” Nancy said. “It’s been tough, but we take every lead seriousl
