NBC4’s NewsChopper4, operated by Angel City Air, crashed Tuesday evening in the Chatsworth area of Los Angeles while crews were already responding to another deadly accident nearby.

The helicopter had been hovering near Nordhoff Street as it provided aerial coverage of a separate Metro bus collision when it suddenly lost altitude and plunged into a parking lot around 7 p.m.

A News Helicopter Was Covering Another Deadly Crash

The earlier crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. near Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue, where an SUV slammed into the side of a Metro bus. According to ABC7’s report on the bus collision, the violent wreck initially left two people dead and six others injured, with a third victim later pronounced dead.

Witness Gay Ryan described the SUV as traveling at what appeared to be freeway speed before striking the bus. “Everybody stopped, waiting for our light to turn green, and off to our left, this SUV comes by, freeway speeds, super fast, not braking, crashed straight into the bus, loudest sound you could imagine,” Ryan said.

The helicopter crash occurred roughly two hours later, close enough to the first accident that emergency crews were still dealing with its aftermath.

The Helicopter Went Down in a Parking Lot

The NewsChopper4 aircraft came down on the 9100 block of Mason Avenue, between commercial buildings near the earlier crash scene. The impact sparked a major fire, with the helicopter and several nearby vehicles engulfed in flames. At least four cars and two storage containers on the ground also burned, according to NPR’s account of the crash.

Firefighters arriving at the scene faced a badly destroyed aircraft. “From the helicopter itself, it’s pretty well destroyed,” LAFD public information officer Brandon Silverman said, according to NBC Los Angeles’ report.

Silverman said crews had to work through the wreckage to determine how many people had been aboard and identify the aircraft. The destruction was so extensive that responders initially said they could not even see the helicopter’s tail.

Witnesses also described the moments immediately before the crash. One woman told NBC Los Angeles that her husband, who works in law enforcement, noticed something unusual about the helicopter shortly before it went down.

“He said the helicopter is looking strange. We noticed that it was swaying. Five seconds later… we saw large smoke.”

Another witness later described the moment she saw the plume of smoke as “absolutely horrifying” in an interview with FOX 11 Los Angeles. “My husband did, but he did say that it was swaying. He goes, ‘Look at the helicopter. It’s swaying.’ And then immediately after, it was the cloud of smoke.”

As the scale of the tragedy became clearer, NBC4 and Telemundo 52 identified the two people aboard the helicopter as reporter and aerial photojournalist Eliana “Eli” Moreno and pilot George Marciniw.

Eliana “Eli” Moreno Was One of the Two People Aboard

The New York Post’s report identifying the victims described Moreno as a veteran aerial reporter who was known on Instagram as “Eli in the Heli.” Moreno had spent years covering Southern California from the air, reporting on police pursuits, brush fires, traffic and major events.

While in the air, Moreno took on multiple responsibilities, working as a photographer, reporter and editor. NPR reported that Moreno was born in Orange County and joined the Angel City Air helicopter team in 2010, the same year she graduated from Chapman University.

She began flying with Marciniw in 2023.

Five Details Show Another Side of Moreno

Away from the helicopter and newsroom, Moreno’s social media posts offered glimpses into a much more personal side of her life:

1. She Was Engaged

Moreno’s Facebook page lists her as engaged to Robert Barrientos, giving another glimpse into the life she was building away from television.

2. She Spoke Three Languages

Her Facebook profile also listed English, Spanish, and Français among her languages. The detail adds another dimension to a journalist whose professional life often placed her in front of Southern California audiences.

3. She Had Chickens on a Farm

In a March 2025 Instagram post, Moreno shared that she had gotten up at sunrise to tend to her chickens. She joked about being “Eggs-hausted” after the early morning chore but was excited to discover seven eggs in the coop.

The post was accompanied by hashtags including #chickenfarming, #eggs, #chickencoop, #hen and #ranch, showing a side of her life far removed from the rush of breaking news.

4. She Loved Dogs

A June 2024 Instagram post showed Moreno enjoying a visit to a Dodgers event at Dodger Stadium with dogs. She wrote, “Our first time at #pupsatthepark at @dodgerstadium was amazing! We walked on the field, made it on the Jumbotron, and caught a ⚾️! Can’t wait for next year!”

Her hashtags included #yorkie, #yorkshireterrier, #poodle, #boxerdog and #adoptdontshop, along with references to rescued dogs.

5. She Had Spent Years Reporting From the Sky

Perhaps the most striking detail about Moreno’s professional life was how long she had been doing the job that ultimately brought her into the fatal crash. She began flying in news helicopters in 2010, shortly after graduating from Chapman University with degrees in broadcast journalism and political science.

Her career included work at KCAL 9 and KCBS 2 before she joined NBC and began flying aboard NewsChopper4 around 2018 or 2019. That experience made her a familiar presence to viewers of NBC4 and Telemundo 52 and earned her the playful “Eli in the Heli” identity online.

Marciniw Had More Than 14,000 Hours in the Helicopter

Marciniw was also an experienced member of the Angel City Air team. The New York Post reported that the pilot had logged more than 14,000 hours in the helicopter, underscoring the amount of flying experience he had accumulated.

NPR reported that Marciniw grew up in Southern California and graduated from Burbank High School in 1974. His Facebook page identifies him as a helicopter pilot involved in aerial filming, flight instruction, surveillance, ferrying, helicopter management, and helicopter flight services in Burbank.

The profile also identifies Burbank High School among his background details. Moreno and Marciniw had been flying together since 2023, according to reports.

NBC4 Mourns the Loss of Its Crew

The crash was unfolding as NBC4 was covering the disaster itself, creating an especially painful moment for the station. Longtime NBC4 anchor Colleen Williams struggled through the live coverage after the station lost contact with its helicopter crew. “We have lost contact with our people,” Williams said on air, according to the New York Post’s initial report.

The helicopter was later confirmed to be the station’s NewsChopper4. NBC4 and Telemundo 52 released a joint statement expressing their grief:

“We are deeply saddened to share that a helicopter providing aerial news coverage for NBC4 and Telemundo 52 was involved in a fatal accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives.”

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed three people were killed in the helicopter crash, including the two people aboard and a person who was on the ground.

Tributes Began Arriving as the Details Emerged

Tributes to the victims quickly appeared online as news of the crash spread. One message remembered Moreno with a deeply personal tribute, “May God have mercy on your beautiful soul, Eliana, and may choirs of angels welcome you into the Kingdom of Heaven. May your light shine on forever.”

Los Angeles officials also acknowledged the loss. Mayor Karen Bass visited the Chatsworth scene and posted that she was receiving updates from LAFD and public safety officials while thanking first responders.

Bass also described the combined bus and helicopter crashes as a devastating loss for Los Angeles. In an interview, she also said, “This is a very, very tragic day in Los Angeles. We lost five Angelenos today, and my heart certainly goes out to the family and friends of all of those that we lost.”

“This is a heartbreaking night for our city, and my thoughts and prayers are first and foremost with the families and loved ones of those we lost today.”

“Our hearts are with those impacted by the bus collision and the helicopter crash and with the entire community who lost members of their team while they were doing their job.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom similarly expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, as well as the NBC4 community. LAPD Central Division also extended its thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family, friends and colleagues.

A person who knew both Moreno and Marciniw was also interviewed and reflected on his longtime relationship with the pilot.

“I knew him since the ’90s. He was my instructor at one time. He was my eyes and ears here in LA. He let me know what’s going on with everything. I just talked to him on Sunday — we were talking about aviation business and retiring […] I just cannot believe this.”

A Veteran Helicopter Pilot Has a Theory About What Happened

Veteran helicopter pilot and former news reporter Zoey Tur has offered a preliminary assessment based on audio from the crash. Tur, who made a name covering breaking news from the skies over Los Angeles, said the recording appeared to capture signs consistent with an engine failure shortly before the helicopter went down.

“If you listen, you could hear the low rotor RPM annunciator horn going off. You could also hear the engine rev down. This was an engine failure, and slow response into entering an auto-rotation by PiC. No survivors,” Tur posted on X after the crash.

However, Tur’s assessment is not an official determination of the crash’s cause. Federal investigators are now examining the wreckage and circumstances surrounding the flight.

Two Investigations Could Help Explain What Happened

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation into the crash and is expected to examine the aircraft, wreckage and circumstances surrounding the flight.

The NTSB told KTLA that an investigator was expected to arrive at the scene Wednesday morning and that the agency was continuing to gather information, according to KTLA’s report.

At the same time, the Federal Aviation Administration is conducting a separate review. The FAA’s focus includes the paperwork, licensing, and compliance requirements surrounding the flight to determine whether proper aviation rules were followed.

That creates two parallel investigative threads: the NTSB is working to determine what went wrong with the flight itself, while the FAA is checking whether the operation and those involved complied with the applicable flying and licensing rules. For now, neither investigation has established a cause.

Tallulah Willis, the youngest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, married Justin Acee on August 8, 2026, during a star-studded ceremony in Sun Valley, Idaho.

The celebration marked the latest chapter in a relationship Tallulah had already been openly documenting online. The couple had announced their engagement in December 2024, when Tallulah shared a photograph of the pair holding hands over a path covered in rose petals, with her engagement ring prominently visible.

She captioned the post simply, “everyday @justinacee.” And it turns out that idea seen in her caption became even more significant when Tallulah later reflected on what her wedding meant to her.

He said he was able to become “real honest about some stuff I’d been holding onto lyrically” while writing the track. Justin also explained that he handled essentially every part of the production himself, saying he wrote, performed, produced, engineered, mixed and mastered the songs for the project.

That hands-on approach appears to be an important part of his artistic personality. As he joked during the interview, “I’m a control [expletive], remember haha…” He has described his music as “summer night driving music,” explaining that he wants his songs to become attached to listeners’ memories.

“I love when songs enhance a memory or specific moment,” Justin told Vents Magazine. “My most vivid memories are the ones where songs are attached to them. I’m trying to make songs like that.” His influences include Andy Shauf, Big Thief, King Krule and The Beatles, while he also mentioned listening to Dominic Fike and artist Lutalo at the time of the interview.

Justin’s connection to music is not limited to performing, either. He has also spoken about directing the creative process surrounding his work and collaborating with other musicians and filmmakers.

For “Ugly Truth,” he worked with director David Hinsch after sharing his vision for the music video. Justin said Tallulah, whom he referred to as his partner at the time, also worked with him on the project. The couple’s relationship and their creative lives were already intertwined long before their wedding day.

Their Wedding Also Marked a Major Fashion Moment for the Bride

Tallulah’s wedding was not only significant because she married the man she had chosen to build a life with. Her own bridal look became another major part of the celebration. For the ceremony, she wore a custom Balenciaga gown created with creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Bonnie Tyler spent much of her life traveling with a suitcase, but when the touring stopped, the Welsh singer returned to two places that could hardly have looked more different from the home where her story began. One of those retreats, in particular, grew from a holiday romance with a country into a decades-long dream.

Tyler was born in a council house in Skewen, Neath Port Talbot, and developed a love of music early. She recalled carrying records in shopping bags to her aunt’s house so she could play them with her cousins, according to the BBC’s profile of her life and career.

“He knew that Ronnie Scott and Steve Wolf were looking for a girl to record their songs, so he told them about me. I went to London, and one of the first demos I recorded was Lost in France, and then I was on Top Of The Pops.”

That beginning led to a career spanning decades. In 1983, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” reached No. 1 in both the United Kingdom and the United States, while later achievements included major award nominations, representing the U.K. at Eurovision, and receiving an MBE.

Yet Tyler’s life away from the stage remained closely connected to the places and people she had known before fame. Her eventual homes reflected both sides of that life: one kept her close to her roots, while the other began with an unforgettable trip abroad.

A Trip in the 1970s Changed Where Tyler Would Call Home

Tyler’s connection to Portugal began long before she built the striking property that could later be seen from the road. While recording an album in Vale do Lobo in 1978, she fell for the Algarve and the freedom she associated with life there. In an interview with The Times, Tyler remembered evenings spent running down to the sea and eating barbecued chicken at a shack on the sand.

The experience stayed with her. In the early 1980s, Tyler and her husband, property developer and former Olympic judo competitor Robert Sullivan, bought a fully furnished villa between Albufeira and Vilamoura.

Another account of Tyler’s life in the region, published by Tomorrow Algarve, recalled her description of the area as “a magical place where you could sail out to sea at midnight and enjoy a barbecue and return to shore in the early hours of the morning to find the local bars still open.”

The villa would not remain as the couple first bought it. Years later, they made a dramatic decision: the original property was flattened, making way for something entirely new.

The Villa Became the Modern Retreat Seen from the Road

Tyler said she and Sullivan hired a Spanish architect to create a state-of-the-art house. Their plans emphasized big windows, a large decking area, and the sea views that had helped draw her to the Algarve in the first place.

Footage of the property later showed the result: a sleek white residence with bold curves and clean geometric lines, partially screened from the road by walls and towering cypress trees.

From another angle, the residence stands along a quiet residential road, its modern white exterior contrasting with the dark green cypress trees and surrounding vegetation.

A third view offers a broader look at the property behind its white boundary walls. The road slopes past the home toward a neighborhood filled with trees, tiled roofs, and distant buildings.

In another street view, pedestrians walk along the opposite pavement as the distinctive property rises across the road. Its curved section, angular white walls, and tall trees make the home stand out without revealing much of the private space behind the walls.

For Tyler, however, the attraction went beyond the architecture. “Portugal is like paradise,” she said, explaining that she and Sullivan spent six months of the year there.

The Life Behind Tyler’s Idea of ‘Paradise’

Tyler’s description of her time in Portugal was surprisingly simple for someone whose work kept her moving around the world. She and Sullivan socialized with friends and ate at local Portuguese restaurants, building routines far removed from life on tour.

At one point, the couple also spent time with Cliff Richard when he had a home in Portugal. Tyler recalled that Richard later invited them to Barbados, where they went to lunches and dinners with his friends and even visited Andrew Lloyd Webber’s home.

Portugal also gave Tyler space to slow down. During an extended period in the country, she reportedly spent her time recharging, walking on the beach with Sullivan, learning to swim, and continuing weekly voice-coaching sessions.

One photograph shared on Tyler’s Instagram page captured the singer in a setting that seemed to embody the freedom she loved about coastal life. She sat cross-legged on a pale green sofa outdoors, smiling with both arms thrown wide as turquoise water and rugged golden rocks stretched behind her.

Yet even after building a life she described in dreamlike terms, there was one place Tyler said she could never leave.

The Other Coastline That Always Pulled Her Back

For all her affection for Portugal, Tyler remained deeply attached to Wales. She kept a home in Mumbles, Swansea, overlooking the sea and close to the large family that remained central to her life.

“I love Mumbles and the Gower coast,” she said. “When we get the weather, you couldn’t be in a better place. I always loved it down this way, and I like keeping close to my family.”

Tyler and Sullivan bought their Welsh home in 1988. The house dated to 1850, but the couple gutted it, replacing the roof and flooring before embarking on a much more detailed transformation.

A carpenter spent two years installing American oak paneling, while stained glass was commissioned from the same craftsman, Tyler, who made glass for Liberty in London. She was especially proud of the home’s Gothic-style arched windows, despite an architect initially objecting to her idea.

He told her, “You can’t install those.” Tyler’s answer was characteristically firm: “What do you mean? I want what I want, and that’s what I’m gonna have.”

Some of Tyler’s social media photographs also offered glimpses of richly decorated interiors, though the posts did not specify whether the rooms shown were in Portugal or Great Britain.

In a festive photograph, Tyler stood in front of an elaborately decorated fireplace, dressed simply in black as Christmas stockings hung from the mantel behind her. Evergreen garlands, red ornaments, classical busts, and an ornate gold-framed mirror completed the traditional holiday display, with the reflection of a decorated Christmas tree visible above her.

In one festive video shared on Instagram, Tyler stood with her arms stretched wide in front of a decorated Christmas tree. Red poinsettias, tall candles, and bowls of snacks filled the room, while large arched windows looked out onto a green garden.

An ornate chandelier hung overhead as Tyler, wearing a dark shearling-style jacket over a brown outfit, appeared to sing or enthusiastically greet the camera. The room felt warm and lived-in, with its holiday decorations gathered around the large windows.

Another Instagram post showed Tyler at work inside an elaborate wood-paneled room. She leaned over a polished table to sign a black-and-white photograph, with CDs and other memorabilia stacked nearby.

The background was packed with detail: carved wooden chairs, ornamental china, patterned furniture, a large tapestry, and numerous framed photographs. It was a far more traditional interior than the crisp modern exterior of the Algarve property seen in the street footage.

Another photograph captured a quieter moment, with Tyler sitting cross-legged on a striped sofa as she read a magazine. Dressed casually in jeans and a loose gray-and-white sweater, she appeared relaxed against a backdrop of cream paneled walls, dark marble trim, and patterned green cushions.

A particularly personal display appeared in another image on Tyler’s Instagram account. A large black-and-white portrait showed Tyler and Sullivan smiling closely together, with her arm around him.

The photograph hung against a textured dark wall above a wooden surface decorated with a Santa figure, dried flowers, a candle, scattered stars, and a notebook. Modern black lamps cast warm pools of light across the portrait and surrounding objects.

The Man Beside Her Before the Fame Arrived

The homes Tyler and Sullivan created together were part of a relationship that began before she became internationally famous. Tyler met Sullivan when she started singing in Swansea nightclubs, where he was working as a club manager.

The couple married in 1973. Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, Tyler credited the strength of their marriage partly to the timing of their relationship. “I think the secret to our success is that we met before I was famous.”

Tyler also described a gentle domestic routine away from touring. She said she slept late when she was not working and that Sullivan brought her cups of tea, while days in Mumbles might include getting her hair and nails done before meeting friends and relatives for lunch.

Her attachment to family was one reason Wales remained indispensable. Tyler jokingly described the Mumbles’ house as “Paddington Station” because so many relatives wanted to visit Auntie Gaynor.

Their Life Together Also Carried Heartbreak

Tyler and Sullivan did not have children of their own, something she discussed candidly over the years. In a personal account published by The Guardian, she explained that the couple initially planned to wait 7 years after their marriage before starting a family.

By then, however, her career had grown enormous, and they continued to postpone the decision. Tyler said she became pregnant at 39 but miscarried after two and a half months.

Habba previously served as one of Trump’s defense lawyers and became known for her televised defenses of the president. She also briefly worked in the West Wing as a counselor before becoming New Jersey’s top prosecutor.

Boyle is another figure familiar to Trump, having interviewed the president several times, including in the Oval Office. Other potential contenders include former White House deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel Taylor Budowich and current White House communications director Steven Cheung.

Carla, who played the beloved cheerleader Bree Prattle in Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at age 33.
