Charlize Theron Brings Daughters Jackson, 14, and August, 12, to ‘The Odyssey’ NYC Premiere in Chic Family Night Out — Photos

The Oscar-winning actress arrived with two seldom-seen guests, and their polished family appearance soon had admirers studying every detail.

Charlize Theron attended the New York City premiere of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” with daughters Jackson Theron, 14, and August Theron, 12, on Tuesday evening.

The girls generally remain outside the public spotlight, but their latest appearance revealed how much their individual styles have developed and prompted some unusually enthusiastic comments.

The star-studded premiere could easily have become another solo fashion moment for Charlize. Instead, she brought the two people she has repeatedly described as the center of her life.

Jackson and August do not regularly accompany their mother to major public events, so seeing all three together made the night feel more personal. Their presence also offered a rare look at the family dynamic that Charlize usually protects from cameras.

In the premiere photos, the trio appeared comfortable together while posing in outfits connected by a crisp black-and-white palette. The actress chose white, while both daughters wore black in distinctly different ways.

Charlize wore a white mini dress decorated with oversized bow details. Strappy heels, a gold choker necklace, and a bold red lip brought classic Hollywood glamour to the look. Jackson selected an elegant off-the-shoulder black outfit and paired it with black wedge heels.

August also wore black, but she styled her dress with knee-high socks and Doc Martens. The boots gave the age-appropriate outfit a youthful edge and clearly separated it from her older sister’s more refined choice.

Once the images circulated, the conversation quickly moved past Charlize’s white dress and toward her daughters. On Instagram, one netizen said, “Beautiful gorgeous girl. This is how GIRLS must look like. Not like Kim Kardashian 😵‍💫.” Another predicted, “Futur súper model sooo pretty [sic].” A third added, “Her girl’s gorgeous 💕 [sic].”

The compliments continued on Facebook, where one person wrote, “The beauty of both is impressive.. 🤩” Another remarked, “Wow, how perfect and divine the daughter is.” A further admirer said, “How beautiful that girl is… and even more so when she grows up 😍.”

The comments placed an intense focus on physical appearance, but the evening also reflected something Charlize has discussed for years: her determination to let both daughters grow into themselves away from constant public judgment.

That approach helps explain why appearances like this one remain uncommon. The actress has spoken candidly about motherhood, but she has generally shared her own experiences rather than turning Jackson and August into public figures.

She adopted Jackson in 2012 and then August three years later. She explained in a 2018 interview with People that adoption had long been the way she imagined building her family.

Her childhood in South Africa exposed her to orphanages and children in need within her community, shaping that decision well before she became a parent.

“Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day,” she said. “This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first.

During that same interview, Charlize admitted that motherhood included disrupted nights and the exhausting realities of potty training, but she also found plenty of humor in the chaos.

She described waking several times each night to change pajamas and sheets while her younger daughter was potty training. Even so, she insisted she would not trade the experience.

Her biggest wish to raise more than one child came with the affection and friction familiar to many families. She remembered becoming emotional when the younger sibling once followed Jackson around with hugs and obvious devotion.

That peaceful phase eventually gave way to sibling disagreements once August realized she did not have to follow every instruction from her older sister.

“Now the baby is almost 3 and realizes she doesn’t have to do everything her sibling tells her,” she reminisced. “There’s a lot of wars in my house. I’m like, ‘Where’s the cute period that we went through?'”

A year later, the actress addressed public discussion surrounding Jackson and explained that her responsibility was to listen to her child rather than decide her identity for her. Jackson had initially been introduced publicly as a boy after being adopted as a baby.

The actress said that changed when Jackson directly corrected the assumption at 3 years old. “Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,” Charlize told the Daily Mail. “Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: ‘I am not a boy!‘”

She responded by making her position unmistakable. She referred to Jackson and August as her two daughters and said her role was to support the people they revealed themselves to be. “So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive,” she said.

“They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide,” the actress continued.

She added, “My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be.”

Charlize Theron also promised to protect their right to live openly. Her position reflected lessons she said came from her mother, who raised her to reject silence, whispers, and half-truths.

“I was taught by my mom that you have to speak up; you have to be able to know that, when this life is over, you’ll have lived the truth you’re comfortable with, and that nothing negative can come from that,” she explained.

Those words give the latest premiere images more context. But the photos below complete that picture more clearly than any single premiere appearance could. From their earliest childhood moments to this polished night in New York City, the gallery reveals how the two rarely seen girls have changed while growing up largely beyond Hollywood’s glare.

In Interviews, Hayden Panettiere Addressed Rumors About Her Relationship With Her Daughter – Details

For years, the late actress faced intense scrutiny over one deeply personal part of her life. Her own account, however, revealed a far more complicated story.

Before Hayden Panettiere’s death on August 16, 2026, at age 36, the actress had spoken openly about years of speculation surrounding her relationship with daughter Kaya Evdokia Klitschko. And one seemingly funny nickname her daughter used for her in 2026 actually came after a much more painful chapter in their story.

Hayden Pushed Back Against Claims That She ‘Gave Up’ Her Daughter

During a May 2026 appearance on the On Purpose Podcast” with Jay Shetty, Hayden directly challenged, “The idea that anybody would think that I would just give away my child and be okay with it is heartbreaking,” she said, adding that it “couldn’t be further from the truth.”

The star explained that she had struggled with mental health issues, anxiety, postpartum difficulties, alcoholism, and substance abuse, and said she had personally sought treatment when she realized she needed help.

She said that when Kaya was about two to two-and-a-half years old, her father, Wladimir Klitschko, decided it would be best for their daughter to live in Ukraine. Hayden divulged that she initially reacted like a “mother lion” and would have “burnt the world down” for her child. She said losing the ability to have Kaya with her “all day every day” brought an almost impossible combination of emotions.

But the actress also described eventually looking at the life Kaya already had in Europe from her daughter’s point of view. Because Hayden had been working and Wladimir was preparing for fights and managing his own business commitments, Kaya had spent years traveling between the U.S. and Europe.

Sometimes her parents traveled with her, while at other times she traveled with a nanny. In Europe, Hayden said, Kaya already had family, friends, and extracurricular activities. She had also become familiar with the languages around her.

So when Hayden became healthier, she said she was faced with an extraordinarily difficult realization: bringing Kaya back simply because she could might have served her own wishes more than her daughter’s.

“I felt like it would have been unfair of me to, and selfish of me to try to pull her out” of the life she had built, Hayden explained. She described Kaya as happy and thriving, saying her daughter spoke five languages, namely, English, Russian, Ukrainian and German and the beginning stages of French, and rode horses. More importantly, Hayden believed Kaya knew that both of her parents loved her.

“I have an incredible relationship with her,” the late star noted further, explaining that she traveled to see Kaya whenever possible and spent a great deal of time talking to her on FaceTime. She also insisted Kaya “in no way feels abandoned,” saying they discussed deep subjects and shared an “intense, incredible” bond.

The Unexpected Nickname Kaya Started Calling Her Mom

Another May 2026 interview offered a much lighter glimpse of that relationship. While speaking with Gayle King on CBS Mornings,” Hayden said Kaya had begun “calling mommy more and more.” But recently, her daughter had surprised her during a FaceTime call.

“She goes, ‘Hey Brittany,'” Hayden recalled. It took her a moment to understand that Kaya was referring to Brittany Allen, Hayden’s character in “Bring It On: All or Nothing.”

Kaya’s friends had apparently become fans of “Bring It On,” too, and Hayden said her daughter was even asking her to Zoom with them. “I’m cool now,” she joked. The playful nickname painted a strikingly different picture from one Hayden had shared several years earlier.

Years Earlier, Kaya Asked Other Women If She Could Call Them ‘Mommy’

During a September 2022 Red Table Talk” interview, Hayden recalled Wladimir telling her that Kaya had been asking other women whether she could call them “mommy.” “My breath hitched, and my heart stopped,” Hayden shared.

The actress claimed Wladimir laughed because he thought the situation was funny, but she found it “horrifying.” To her, Kaya’s behavior seemed like “a trauma reaction” and “a cry for help,” so she immediately asked to speak with her daughter.

Hayden said that when she questioned Kaya about it, the child suddenly began speaking in what she described as “goo-goo gaga” gibberish — something Hayden said she had never heard her do before.

The actress believed the reaction showed Kaya was struggling with having her mother away and said she feared the separation could affect her emotionally later in life.

Kaya was born on December 9, 2014, in Hawaii to Hayden and Heavyweight Boxing Champion Wladimir. According to People’s report announcing Kaya’s birth, the baby weighed 7 lbs., 14 oz. and measured 20 inches long.

“We are over the moon and madly in love!” the new parents said at the time. Hayden had largely kept quiet about her pregnancy, although her baby bump naturally became harder to hide. At the 2014 Emmys, she accidentally revealed that she and Wladimir were expecting a girl while talking about decorating and shopping for the baby.

“I’m thrilled that I am having a girl first because I feel like I know a lot about raising a strong woman,” she told Hello! Magazine while discussing her pregnancy and then-impending motherhood. “I feel very empowered myself and I think my daughter will, too,” she added.

At the time, Hayden was engaged to Wladimir. The couple had announced their engagement in 2013, more than a year before Kaya arrived. The first days of motherhood brought all the expected exhaustion, and some surprises.

Hayden later joked that she finally got her first uninterrupted night of sleep because Wladimir’s mother had been eager to take care of the then-newborn overnight.

“Wlad’s mom was desperate to take the baby for a night,” Hayden recalled in People’s first-photo story about the new family. “She looks like she didn’t get much sleep, but I feel well-rested!”

She described becoming a parent as “such a surreal experience and so out of body,” saying that she and Wladimir were simply getting to know the little person who had spent months growing inside her. Physically, however, recovery from childbirth was not easy.

“I’m limping around,” Hayden said at the time, adding that she was still trying to understand what pregnancy had done to her body and which changes might be temporary or permanent. She even joked that she felt “like an 80-year-old woman trying to go down the stairs.”

Kaya, meanwhile, was described by her mom as an easy and very sweet baby, albeit one with what Hayden called an “insatiable appetite.” But behind those tender early moments, Hayden would eventually face a struggle she said she had not been prepared to recognize.

Years later, Hayden explained that she suffered from postpartum depression after Kaya’s birth. The actress said part of what made the experience so frightening was that she did not understand what postpartum depression was or realize she should be watching for it.

“I wish I knew about postpartum depression. I wish I knew to look out for it,” she told E! News while reflecting on her experience in 2023. Hayden said she thought “there was something seriously wrong” with her and turned to alcohol in an attempt to make herself feel better.

She recalled thinking, “Fireball will fix this — duh!” before discovering that any relief was fleeting and ultimately made things worse. The isolation was another painful component. Because Hayden had not known what she was experiencing, she felt she should somehow have been able to overcome it on her own.

Her struggle with postpartum depression was something she had spoken about publicly years earlier, but she later connected those emotional difficulties to a much broader battle. Hayden had also candidly addressed her struggles involving opioids and alcohol, which became part of the circumstances surrounding Kaya eventually living with her father.

The actress said she wished new mothers were told that an immediate, overwhelming sense of attachment is not the only possible reaction to giving birth. She recalled wanting someone to explain that it was not abnormal to meet a newborn and initially see a “crazy little creation” whom a parent would come to love more deeply as they got to know the child.

The Mayo Clinic’s information on postpartum depression cited in E!’s report notes that symptoms can include severe mood swings and difficulty bonding with a baby. For Hayden, what followed was not just a private battle with her health; it ultimately changed the day-to-day structure of her daughter’s childhood.

When Kaya Went to Live with Her Father

The circumstances surrounding the arrangement of Kaya living with her dad in Europe had become one of the most misunderstood — and emotionally charged — parts of the actress’ life story.

During the same September 2022 appearance on “Red Table Talk,” Hayden was asked about the idea that she and Wladimir had simply agreed it was best for Kaya to be with her dad after the couple had already split for good in 2018. Her answer was striking.

“At first it was not because it wasn’t a discussion,” she said during the Red Table Talk” conversation about relinquishing custody. Hayden explained that had Wladimir approached her and suggested that Kaya stay with him temporarily because of what she was going through, she probably would have understood the reasoning.

“Okay, that makes sense. I get it. I’ll come there, you know, to visit and stuff like that,” she said of how she believed such a conversation might have gone. Instead, Hayden said the way the situation unfolded was “very upsetting.” Then came the paperwork.

“I mean, it was the worst signing those papers,” Hayden recalled. “It was like the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever, ever had to do in my life.”

She clarified that the documents gave Wladimir full custody. At that point, Hayden said her intention was to focus on herself, recover, and eventually reach a place where the arrangement could change. She believed that once she was better, Kaya might return and she would have more time with her daughter. “But that didn’t happen,” Hayden stated.

Kaya was nearly three when the arrangement changed, and she initially believed her daughter was simply visiting her father in Ukraine. “It wasn’t fully my decision,” Hayden said on “Red Table Talk,” as recounted in People’s 2024 look at Kaya’s life and her relationship with her mom. “In fact, I didn’t even know it was happening until she was already over there.”

That detail helps explain why Hayden has pushed back so strongly against the narrative that she casually chose to walk away from motherhood.

Hayden Later Said She Was ‘Guilt Ridden’

By May 2026, Hayden was speaking even more candidly about what she felt during that period. At a panel connected to her memoir“This Is Me: A Reckoning,” she described the crushing guilt of knowing she was not in a position to parent Kaya the way she wanted to.

The actress admitted she had felt “guilt ridden” over being “completely incapable” of parenting her now-11-year-old daughter at the time, according to Page Six’s report on her emotional recollection.

She also remembered a remark that particularly hurt. “The worst thing that somebody said to me is that it was a personal choice that I was making,” Hayden said. Her response made clear just how impossible that characterization felt to her.

“Who would choose to feel like this? Like, how could you even say that to me?” she asked. Hayden described Kaya as a healthy, beautiful child who represented “everything to celebrate,” making her inability to function as the mother she wanted to be even more painful.

“And I’m completely incapable of doing it,” she said. “I felt so guilt ridden [sic] that I was incapable of doing it.” Another moment seared itself into her memory: While walking through an airport, Hayden spotted a magazine cover featuring her face and a headline asking why she had given up her daughter.

“You might as well have taken a knife and stabbed me in the heart,” she recalled. Hayden insisted anyone who truly knew her would know she would have done “absolutely anything” for Kaya. But she argued that loving a child can sometimes mean accepting a decision that does not make the parent feel better.

“Sometimes that means not what you want as a mom or what’s going to make you feel good as a parent, but what’s best for them,” she said. Even the actual custody signing remains a painful memory.

Hayden shared that her father was present, while several other people unexpectedly arrived to witness her signing the paperwork. She recalled sitting in a restaurant and clenching her teeth so tightly so she would not begin sobbing.

Then, she heard people laughing and chuckling nearby. “I can’t believe you can watch somebody who’s obviously doing one of the most painful things in the world,” she remembered thinking.

The actress said signing over custody of Kaya was the "most heartbreaking thing" she had ever done. She later stressed that allowing her daughter to remain with Klitschko ultimately meant putting Kaya's stability ahead of what she herself wanted as a mother. | Source: Getty Images

Afterward, Hayden said she went into the restaurant bathroom and locked herself inside as she confronted “the reality of the situation.” Her memoir revisits experiences from that deeply difficult period of her life. But Kaya’s story did not stop with the custody papers. Amid her beautiful life in Europe, Kaya has developed an affinity for horses. In fact, according to her mom’s past words, she has become obsessed with horses.

Hayden believed that particular passion may run in the family. “I have horseback riding in my genetics,” she said, noting that her great-uncle once won the Kentucky Derby. She also shared one particularly funny glimpse into Kaya’s enthusiasm.

Hayden received a video of her daughter watching “Racing Stripes,” a movie she apparently loves to replay. Kaya was sitting on a toy hippo and pretending to race it with such enthusiasm that Hayden joked she feared the toy’s ears were going to be ripped off.

The young girl is also a strong swimmer and loves the water — another quality Hayden had recognized in herself. “She’s just like me,” the actress previously said. Hayden recalled spending plenty of time in her pool while pregnant with Kaya and working on “Nashville.” “And she came out just loving water,” Hayden said.

By 2026, Hayden revealed that Kaya was not merely interested in horses but actually rides them. Yet the detail that perhaps surprised listeners most was how highly Hayden spoke of her daughter’s emotional development.

Hayden Had Shared That Her Daughter Is ‘Happy,’ ‘Solid’ and Knows She Is Loved

At 11, Kaya has been living what her mother called an “incredible life.” “She’s an incredible little girl,” Hayden had shared with Jay. The actress also spoke about the support system surrounding her. More importantly, she believed her daughter knew she had two parents who love her.

Hayden said she was confident in her heart that Kaya felt supported and insisted that their physical separation had not destroyed their relationship. “I have an incredible relationship with her,” the mom said. Hayden would travel to see Kaya as much as possible and spent significant amounts of time talking to her through FaceTime.

Their conversations were apparently not limited to quick check-ins. “We talk about really deep things,” Hayden revealed.

For Hayden, parenting Kaya from another continent also meant trying to lead through example. Her daughter, she noted, was born to two very public and powerful parents pursuing dramatically different careers on separate continents, and Kaya apparently enjoyed watching both of them succeed. “She’s our biggest fan,” Hayden revealed further.

The actress believed seeing what her parents accomplish may help Kaya believe she can accomplish whatever she sets her own mind to. And Hayden saw something even more important in the way Kaya carries herself.

She described her daughter as “good” and “solid” and said Kaya’s ability to love herself offers powerful reassurance that she feels loved. Watching an 11-year-old already show an ability to love both herself and other people, Hayden said, is more than a parent could ask for.

Because of the relationship she had with Kaya, and because of the way events ultimately unfolded, Hayden said she had reached a place of being capable of feeling profound gratitude alongside the pain. Kaya, she stressed, has “an incredible father” and “an incredible family.”

The situation was still not the version of motherhood Hayden once hoped to experience. Yet she said she felt lucky that Kaya is safe, well-rounded, and was deeply connected to her. That bond was once one of her greatest fears.

When Kaya went away, Hayden worried she might have had to fight extremely hard to maintain any relationship with her daughter. Instead, she later said the outcome became “in a lot of ways” a blessing. That does not mean she did not ache for more. “I always want her here,” Hayden said. “I always miss her.” “But that’s just not the way life is right at this moment,” she acknowledged.

Hayden was also thinking well beyond Kaya’s childhood. She believed that one day her daughter would be an adult with the freedom to decide for herself where she wants to live and how she wants to structure her life, and the actress had faith in what may have happened then.

Hayden believed Kaya would come to her and that the two would have had an “incredible relationship and bond and friendship” of the kind many parents never get to experience with their adult children.

Kaya’s Parents Still Remained Close to Each Other After Their Split

One thing that seemed to have made the unconventional arrangement easier was Hayden’s relationship with Wladimir. “Wlad and I are very close,” she said in 2026. Despite no longer being a couple, she said all three of them communicated regularly.

Sometimes that meant a three-way FaceTime call between Hayden, Kaya, and Wladimir, whom Hayden described as “incredibly supportive.” She said he has brought Kaya to the United States, allowing their daughter to spend time with members of Hayden’s family.

Kaya was able to know her great-grandparents before Hayden’s “grandpy” and “papa” died. “That was really important to me,” the actress explained. Kaya still has Hayden’s nana and grandmother in her life, and she even has an affectionate nickname for one of them: “Super Nana.”

As for Wladimir, the actress went even further than simply describing them as cordial co-parents. “Wlad and I are still best friends,” she said. Hayden believed few people in the world knew her as well as he did.

She boarded a flight out of Los Angeles with someone tied to one of the darkest chapters of her life — and less than 24 hours later, she was gone.

Hayden Panettiere’s death on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at age 36 has left fans searching for answers, and the details trickling out only raise more questions.

Behind the headlines sits a story that stretches back years, touching on old wounds, a health complaint she’d been managing quietly, and a statement she made just months earlier addressing accusations that had followed her for years.

Now, as police in South Carolina confirm that an investigation is open, the pieces of Panettiere’s final days are starting to come together.

Police Confirm Investigation Into Her Death

Panettiere’s father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed her passing in a statement Sunday night, five days before what would have been her 37th birthday. “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” he said, according to a statement obtained by NBC News.

Her publicist, Kasey Kitchen, said the actress’s death was under investigation but offered no further details at the time. Police in Greenville, South Carolina, said officers and EMS personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at around 1:50 p.m. Sunday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as Panettiere. An acquaintance had placed the 911 call. Investigators said the preliminary findings had not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances, but the case remains under review by the Greenville Police Department alongside the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

The Man Who Flew With Her Out of Los Angeles

One day before she died, Panettiere left Los Angeles — and she wasn’t alone. Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that she flew south from LA on Saturday with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. Sources said Hickerson’s family was aware of the trip.

The pairing carries weight. Hickerson and Panettiere’s relationship has been marked by turmoil dating back to 2018, and in April 2021, he was sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, or girlfriend, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed to People.

Court records showed Hickerson faced eight charges tied to alleged abusive incidents between May 2019 and January 2020, including four counts of corporal injury on a cohabitant and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

He was also sentenced to four years of probation, 52 domestic violence classes, $500 in restitution, and a five-year protective order. At the time, Panettiere spoke out about the alleged abuse.

“I am coming forward with the truth about what happened to me with the hope that my story will empower others in abusive relationships to get the help they need and deserve,” she said. “I am prepared to do my part to make sure this man never hurts anyone again.”

Despite that history, the two remained connected. By March 2026, they were photographed together again, this time under very different circumstances.

The Health Issue She’d Been Managing for a Year

A source close to Panettiere told TMZ she had reportedly been complaining about back pain for the past year — a detail that adds new context to a scene captured just five months before her death.

In March 2026, Panettiere was photographed leaving Los Angeles International Airport on crutches, with Hickerson at her side rolling her carry-on.

Her representative addressed the sighting in a statement to E! News: “Hayden has been privately managing a temporary nerve condition, which is the reason she was seen using crutches. She is recovering well and is on the mend.”

Panettiere herself offered a brief explanation in footage obtained by TMZ as she loaded her luggage into a car. “Just had some pinched nerves in my lower back, but I’m feeling good,” she said. Sources close to the situation insisted at the time that despite stepping out together, Panettiere and Hickerson were “just friends.”

Her Statement Amid Claims She Abandoned Her Daughter

Months before her death, Panettiere addressed a different kind of pain — accusations that had trailed her for years. Speaking on Jay Shetty’s podcast in May 2026, she pushed back directly against claims that she had given up custody of her daughter, Kaya, and walked away.

“The idea that anybody would think that I would just give away my child and be okay with it is heartbreaking,” she said, “couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Kaya, whom Panettiere shares with ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko, has lived primarily in Europe since she was roughly two and a half years old, after Klitschko decided it would be best for her. Panettiere said the decision devastated her at the time. “I went like a mother lion,” she said. “I would have burnt the world down for my child.”

She explained that by the time she felt healthy enough to fight the arrangement, Kaya had already built a life abroad — friends, extracurricular activities, and fluency in multiple languages. Pulling her out of it, Panettiere said, would have been selfish.

“She in no way feels abandoned — and that’s something that I’ve made sure to stay on top of and be very aware of,” she said.

Why She ‘Sought Treatment’

The custody arrangement traced back to a period Panettiere described as one of the hardest of her life. She told Shetty she had been battling postpartum depression, anxiety, and substance abuse in the years following Kaya’s birth, and that she made the choice herself to get help.

“The misconception is that I have been in the past forced into treatment when, in fact, I have been the one who sought it out,” she said.

She described losing herself while trying to act her way through the depression, saying the people around her, including Klitschko, didn’t initially understand what was happening.

“I didn’t know what was going on,” she said. What followed, she explained, was years of cycling through depression, anxiety, alcoholism, and substance abuse as she searched for a way out.

Panettiere had spoken about this period before. In an April 2023 interview with The New York Times, she recalled a moment when she no longer recognized herself. “My eyes were yellow,” she said, adding that doctors told her at 27 that her liver was failing and she was septic.

She left “Nashville” during its fourth season in 2015 to enter treatment. She re-entered treatment again in 2021 for eight months. By the time of that Times interview, she said she’d been sober for nearly two years.

A Family Already Familiar With Loss

Panettiere’s death comes just over three years after her only sibling, Jansen Panettiere, died unexpectedly at 28. The family confirmed at the time, in a statement to CNN, that a medical examiner cited cardiomegaly, or an enlarged heart, coupled with aortic valve complications as the cause.

Jansen had followed his sister into acting as a child, later building a career as a voice actor best known for playing Shovelmouth in 2006’s “Ice Age: The Meltdown.”

Panettiere spoke about the toll of that loss in a September 2024 appearance on Today, admitting she still wasn’t sure she’d fully processed it. “When you lose somebody that you saw in all the important moments in your life, standing right next to you, it just rocks your world,” she said. “I want to leave this world a better place in his name.”

Hayden Panettiere’s Last Moments: How She Was Found and How Brian Hickerson’s Family Responded

Hayden Panettiere’s death followed a weekend trip to South Carolina with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, but the first public response from his family was brief.

Reports in the days that followed provided a clearer picture of Brian Hickerson’s family’s connection to the events surrounding Hayden’s death.

Brian Hickerson’s Family Initially Said Very Little

Hayden and Brian reportedly flew from Los Angeles to the South on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that the actress died the following day.

As news of her death broke, TMZ reported that Brian’s family was aware of the situation but had provided no further statement at the time. The report did not quote Brian’s parents or attribute any separate public response to them.

A Second Report Revealed the Family’s Direct Connection to the Emergency

According to the same publication, Brian’s brother, Zach Hickerson, entered the Greenville, South Carolina, Airbnb on Sunday afternoon and found Hayden unresponsive in a chair in the living room. Brian was reportedly asleep in another room.

Zach and Brian then called 911, placing Brian’s brother at the center of the initial emergency response. Hayden’s cause and manner of death have yet to be determined.

Months Earlier, Brian Spoke Candidly About Their Relationship

In a May 13, 2026, interview with TMZ’s Charlie Neff, Brian addressed his past with Hayden and reacted to her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.” He said the book’s account of their history was accurate and acknowledged that his abuse of Hayden was already part of the public record.

Brian also discussed the 2020 Valentine’s Day incident in Wyoming that led to his arrest on a domestic abuse charge. He said he had been drinking and became physical, adding that “you never lay hands on a woman.”

By the time of the interview, Brian described his relationship with Hayden as one based on “mutual respect” and said they were “good buddies.”

He also spoke about his sobriety and personal growth, crediting an Alcoholics Anonymous group called The Isolators with helping save his life. He said he was also working with a therapist and a sponsor.

But when the conversation turned to whether he and Hayden still had a future together, Brian gave a more complicated answer.

Asked if they would get back together, he said, “No.” When asked whether he would marry her, however, he replied, “Yeah, of course.”

Brian said he still thought marriage might be possible. “I hope so. I’m sorry. She probably don’t think the same way, but um you know, it’s uh you know,” he added.

When asked whether Hayden might be better off without him, Brian shifted the focus to her career. He called her “one of the most talented people” he had ever met and said he would be “an idiot” not to step aside and let her move forward professionally.

“So, we probably wouldn’t be good together,” he said, before adding that he wanted to see what Hayden would do with “the next… 30 years of her career.”

In the same interview, Brian was asked what he wanted people to understand about his relationship with Hayden. His answer was affectionate and surprisingly poetic.

“Hayden Panettiere is the sweetest thing in the world. It’s not about who you spend Saturday night with. It’s who you spend all day Sunday with. Hayden Panettiere was my Sunday girl,” he said.

Hayden and Brian were first linked in August 2018, shortly after her reported separation from Wladimir Klitschko.

Their Romance Had Already Taken a Dark Turn

By May 2019, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office had charged Brian with one felony count of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, or girlfriend following his arrest over an alleged physical altercation. He was released after posting a $50,000 bond. At that stage, a conviction could have carried a prison sentence of up to four years, according to the 2019 report.

People close to Hayden expressed concern about the romance. One source described Brian as controlling and prone to anger, while another called him a bad influence. Brian publicly rejected those worries and said Hayden was happy and healthy.

Yet his legal troubles involving her continued. In February 2020, Brian was arrested in Jackson, Wyoming, after allegedly punching Hayden on the right side of her face with a closed fist. He was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and interference with a police officer and reportedly pleaded not guilty.

A later California indictment included four felony counts of corporal injury, two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of attempting to dissuade Hayden as a witness, and a misdemeanor battery count. The allegations covered incidents between May 2019 and January 2020.

In 2021, Brian pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, girlfriend, or child’s parent. The remaining charges were dropped during sentencing.

He received 45 days in jail, four years of formal probation, 52 domestic violence classes, $500 in restitution, and a five-year protective order.

Hayden had previously issued a forceful statement about the abuse she said she endured. She explained that she was speaking publicly in the hope that other people in abusive relationships would seek help.

“I am prepared to do my part to make sure this man never hurts anyone again,” she said. She also thanked the people who helped her regain her voice and her life.

Her attorney, Alan Jackson, described Hayden as a survivor of years of psychological, emotional, and severe physical abuse. He said her decision to cooperate with prosecutors was part of a healing process that had only just begun.

Yet despite that history, Hayden and Brian’s connection kept resurfacing.

The Relationship Was Apparently Far From Over

By 2026, the public had become accustomed to reports that Hayden and Brian had split. According to sources cited by TMZ, however, those reports did not tell the full story.

A source close to Brian claimed the pair had not broken up as many times as the public had been led to believe and were actually together while Hayden promoted her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” in the months before her death.

The relationship was reportedly kept private because Hayden’s team believed Brian was “bad for business.” The secrecy apparently extended beyond avoiding public appearances together.

That detail gave their private relationship a particularly unsettling significance. But what happened just three days before Hayden’s death added another unexpected chapter to Brian’s story.

A Judge Rejected Brian’s Bid Just Days Before Hayden Died

On August 13, a judge rejected Brian’s request to reduce his past felony convictions to misdemeanors and his separate request to have them expunged. According to Page Six, the prosecution objected to both motions during the hearing. Judge Olivia Rosales denied the requests, with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirming the decision to the publication.

It was not the first time Brian had attempted to have the convictions reduced or dismissed. He had reportedly made a similar request in July 2025.

His petition noted that he had fulfilled the conditions of his probation. The timing was striking: the ruling came only three days before Hayden died. Still, there is no information in the provided sources connecting the court decision to Hayden’s death, and available reports did not accuse Brian of involvement in her death.

Hayden’s Final Text Was About Something Much Bigger

Musician Clayton Johnson shared a video of himself and Hayden singing after her death, along with a deeply personal message about their friendship. “I spent last night trying to process, to try to find the right words, but there really aren’t any. More than anything, I hope you’re at peace now and reunited with Jansen.”

But then he shared something more intimate. Clayton said the last text Hayden ever sent him was a sentence that sounded unmistakably like her:

“Honestly, people think it’s a joke to ask for world peace, but that would be me.”

Clayton said the message was “you in a nutshell” and expressed gratitude for having known her and for the memories they shared. His post ended with a simple farewell:

“Fly high, Hayden. 🤍”

While headlines had followed her relationships, addiction struggles, and painful experiences, her final words to Johnson were about world peace. But Hayden’s death itself had already left unanswered questions.

Seal and Heidi Klum’s Son Henry’s Stunning Transformation into Rising Model — Photos

He was the kid who wore dinosaur slippers to dinner and tried on his sister’s princess gowns, and now the world is starting to pay attention.

Henry Günther Ademola Dashtu Samuel, the son of supermodel Heidi Klum and British pop star Seal, has been turning heads in the modeling world since early 2025.

But long before the runway lights, there were signs that fashion was never just a phase for him, and the photos ahead tell that story better than any caption ever could.

A Fashion Icon from the Beginning

Henry was born in late 2005 in a Los Angeles-area hospital, and People reported at the time that everyone was “happy and healthy.” He carries the surname of his father, born Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, and his middle name, Günther, comes from Heidi’s own father.

He came home to a Bel Air estate, joining his then 16-month-old sister, Leni. Heidi went to have two more kids with the singer: Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel and Lou Sulola Samuel. Growing up in that household, standing out was basically the baseline.

Even as a toddler, Henry had opinions about what he wore. People reported that while Johan turned out to be the “brainiac” of the bunch, Henry was always the one unafraid to lean into his own style, no matter how unconventional.

Heidi recalled him showing up to a family dinner in dinosaur slippers while everyone else was dressed nicely, explaining, “He lives in his own world.”

By 2008, that world had expanded well beyond slippers. Heidi told InStyle that she had outfitted her kids with a “costume closet,” and Henry was the one most willing to try everything, including his sister’s princess gowns.

To this, the model said, “There’s nothing wrong with that,” adding that the flashy dresses were far “more fun than Buzz Lightyear.”

His experimentation even sparked a business idea in his mother back then. “I should make costumes for boys. They’d have to be blinged out. Why can’t Luke Skywalker be covered in Swarovski crystals?” she said.

He Asked His Mom for a Shot

Fast forward to 2025, and the natural next chapter arrived on Henry’s own terms. In a conversation with Hello Magazine, Heidi revealed that she had always assumed Henry was leaning toward music.

Then he surprised her. “He came to me and said he really wanted to give modeling a shot. I’ve been there for him a little more because it’s new to him,” she shared.

The reality show host also noted that the industry had evolved significantly since her own early days.

“There is so much more diversity now, in all aspects. When we started, or even ten or 12 years ago, all the models were one size. Everyone looked the same.”

Still, for Henry, stepping into this newer landscape came with both opportunity and pressure.

His Paris Runway Debut

On April 1, 2025, Henry shared an Instagram video that offered a behind-the-scenes look at his very first runway walk, which had taken place at Paris Fashion Week earlier that year, during the Lena Erziak Haute Couture Spring-Summer Show on January 28.

The footage showed him mentally preparing backstage, nerves and all. But the anxiety did not stop him.

“I love fashion, I love clothes, I love to express myself and show who I am,” Henry said in the clip. “This is my first time walking, first time modeling for a designer. I’m nervous, but I’m more excited than nervous.”

Additionally, he credited his mother’s coaching for getting him through the walk, explaining that she advised him to always look straight ahead and keep his posture in mind. By all accounts, he delivered. And the muse behind his success, it turns out, had been in his life all along.

“When I was younger, I used to model in my sisters’ and siblings’ clothes,” he confessed. “Yeah, I was just kinda inspired by that.”

What His Dad Had to Say

Seal spoke exclusively to E! News’ Francesca Amiker on February 5 about Henry’s modeling debut, and his reaction was pure pride.

“Watching him, or seeing him in those photos, having such a great time and looking like he was really enjoying the experience,” the singer said, “that personally is what gave me great happiness.”

Seal also made it clear that he would support whatever direction any of his children chose, as long as they were genuinely enjoying it. And Henry was clearly just starting this path.

Just weeks after this runway debut, the rising star made the cover of Hunger Magazine, which Heidi celebrated on Instagram. “So proud of you, my beautiful Henry!” she gushed. “[…] Watching you grow into the amazing young man you are today fills my heart with so much joy. The world is just beginning to see what I’ve always known — you are destined for greatness!”

Not Everyone Was a Fan at First

Unfortunately, not all the early reactions were warm. On Facebook, viewers had plenty to say about Henry’s modeling debut, and some of it was pointed.

One commenter wrote, “I’m sorry, but if he wasn’t the son of those two famous people, he wouldn’t be walking the runway. He looks like a young version of Lionel Richie for God sake! Lol [sic].”

Other netizens were blunter, with one saying, “Handsome but not model material.” Another echoed, “No hate but not model material,” and a third landed on, “Handsome… Not for the runway tho [sic].”

Henry addressed that kind of commentary in a 2026 interview with Paper Magazine, alongside his sister Leni, about navigating social media as a young person in the public eye.

“I would say it’s a blessing and a curse, social media. There’s so many people in the world and through social media, everyone can contact you, each other, through that. There’s a lot of hate out there that no one needs to see.”

Leni shared her own perspective, explaining that she finds the permanence of social media frightening because content remains online forever. Therefore, she personally avoids posting frequently.

Henry at Cannes, and a New Role as Mom’s Date

By May 2026, Henry was firmly part of Heidi’s red carpet rotation, and she was not shy about why. In an interview with People, the supermodel explained that her husband, German guitarist Tom Kaulitz, whom she married in 2019, traveled frequently, so Henry stepped in.

“I mean, what better date can you have than your own son?” she said, adding that experiencing events through his eyes makes them feel new again.

“But to be honest, I’m more appreciative that he comes with me, that he’s proud to be on my side. And we have a fun night together. We love people watching, we gossip a little bit. It’s a real fun night with my son.”

For years, their relationship was sold not as flawless, but as proof that two people could survive almost anything if they kept choosing each other. Now, one court filing, a cryptic glam shot, and a tiny detail on his hand have turned that hard-won fairytale into the internet’s latest guessing game…

Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO’s love story was never quiet, never simple, and never built to look perfect. Now, after years of public devotion, painful confessions, family challenges, and very visible loyalty, the pair’s reported split has fans asking one thing: what really happened behind closed doors?

Their romance had long been framed as a story of loyalty, survival, and second chances. The reported divorce now puts years of public tributes, family milestones, and hard-won reconciliation under a new spotlight. | Source: Getty Images

A Divorce Filing Turns a Famous Love Story Into a Mystery

According to TMZ, Jelly Roll filed for divorce from Bunnie in May in Tennessee. Sources told the outlet that the divorce is “a mutual decision by the two and a private family matter.”

Still, that calm explanation did not stop the internet from spiraling. The report immediately stood out because Jelly Roll and Bunnie had long been one of those celebrity couples who made fans believe in messy, complicated, against-the-odds love.

They met in 2015, before Jelly Roll became a mainstream star. The relationship reportedly only turned romantic the following year, and the two married in August 2016. But from the beginning, their story had twists.

Bunnie, who had previously worked in the sex industry, left that industry in 2023, years after marrying the singer. Adding another layer to their complex story is the fact that one week before their wedding, Jelly Roll welcomed a son with another woman.

For some couples, details like that might have stayed hidden forever. For Jelly Roll and Bunnie, they eventually became part of the public story — a story about chaos, forgiveness, blended family, and two people who repeatedly chose each other.

Fans Quickly Started Reading Between the Lines

Once the divorce news spread, fans did what fans do best: they started looking for clues. Many immediately connected the split to Jelly Roll’s weight loss, his changing public image, and old conversations about trust.

Underneath a Facebook post about the news, one person wrote, “This is what happens when a partner loses a lot of weight . Their self confidence soars and they don’t know how to handle the attention they receive that they’ve never had before. They feel wanted and desired by totally strangers rather than the partner who was with them all along [sic].”

Another commenter quipped, “Let me guess, ‘He’s changed. He’s not half the man he used to be.'” Meanwhile, others were much more direct. One person opined, “I bet he cheated. 🗑️.” Another reiterated, “He cheated it’s [sic] simple 🤷🏼‍♀️.”

The speculation continued on another Facebook post about the reported split, where one user commented, “So basically he got fit and is gonna look for a younger model.”

Another person speculated, “Looses all that weight and boom wants something new other the the person that was with you through it all. But we all don’t know what it’s like behind closed doors. But I’m sure the cheating don’t help [sic].”

A third person took a softer but still telling approach, “Yep, had a hunch.. people change, both got more successful in their own ways.. best wishes to both.. happens.”

Those comments show exactly where the public conversation went first. Fans are not just reacting to a divorce headline; they are reacting to years of backstory.

Their Marriage Had Already Survived More than Most Fans Knew

Bunnie XO’s memoir“Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” revealed just how complicated the couple’s relationship had been behind the scenes.

In a report about the memoir’s revelations, Bunnie was described as opening up about everything from their first meeting to sex, marriage, parenting, infidelity, separation, and fertility struggles. She even explained that cheating was included in the book not to punish Jelly Roll, but to show how hard they had worked to stay together.

Bunnie wrote that some people might judge her for staying, but she did not see herself as weak, nor did she see him as a horrible person. Instead, she framed their early marriage as two people who fell in love without knowing how to keep love healthy.

She described them as two strangers who rushed to the altar in 2016, became parents to a traumatized seven-year-old in 2017, and got fully sober in 2018. That is a lot of life in a very short amount of time.

Before Jelly Roll, Bunnie Had Already Survived a Lot

Bunnie’s story did not begin with Jelly Roll. In a December 2019 Facebook post about aging and refusing to conform, she said she would be turning 40 on January 22 of that year and joked that she would one day be a “hot [expletive] grandma.”

She also said she would never conform to society’s standards or let age make her feel small. That same no-apologies energy has been part of her brand for years. During a 2022 interview with Sofia Franklyn, Bunnie said she was born in Houston and grew up in Las Vegas after her family moved there when she was around five.

She described her father as a musician and said her early childhood had a wild rock-and-roll atmosphere. Then, when she was about 12, her family made a hard turn into strict Pentecostal religion. Bunnie said she was no longer allowed to listen to secular music or watch movies above a G rating.

She also described her dad as having been an alcoholic and an alleged cheater and divulged how she had an abusive stepmother.

Additionally, she said she left home at 14. That background matters because it helps explain why so many fans see Bunnie as more than a celebrity wife. She has built her image around survival, reinvention, blunt honesty, and refusing to be shamed.

Bunnie and Jelly Roll’s First Connection Was Messy, Magnetic, and Not Instantly Romantic

In her memoir, Bunnie recalled meeting Jelly Roll in 2015 while she was still with an abusive ex she referred to as Karma. She admitted Jelly Roll “was not” her usual type, but something about him intrigued her. After her ex went to prison, she and Jelly Roll reconnected.

Bunnie remembered him calling her while she sometimes had another man in bed nearby. She would leave the room to take his call, and he would ask questions about his daughter. Those conversations about fatherhood caught her attention.

At the time, Jelly Roll had gotten full custody of his daughter Bailee, and Bunnie said she loved hearing him talk about trying to be a better dad. Still, the romance did not begin with a perfect fairytale setup… It began with two people carrying heavy histories, drawn together in a way neither of them seemed fully prepared for.

The Night He Said No Became One of Their Most Revealing Stories

One of the more unexpected moments Bunnie described involved Jelly Roll refusing to sleep with her early in their relationship. She wrote that she stripped naked and called him into her room, but instead of jumping into bed with her, he held back.

According to Bunnie, he told her they were friends and said he did not want them to regret anything in the morning. He also talked to her about his five-year plan. It was funny, awkward, and surprisingly tender.

That moment became part of the lore around them because it showed that even in a relationship known for wildness, there was also hesitation, fear, and a desire not to ruin something meaningful.

The Road, Her Work, and Their Unconventional Rules

Once they officially started dating, Jelly Roll invited Bunnie to travel with him. Bunnie agreed, but only if she could continue meeting clients as part of her career as a sex worker. In the memoir, she described boundaries around that arrangement, including that overnights were off limits.

She also later wrote about the couple’s unusual views on monogamy. Bunnie said Jelly Roll had been used to having multiple relationships with different women before her.

She explained that they both initially frowned upon traditional monogamy, but she drew a hard line around honesty. To Bunnie, the issue was not simply attraction or freedom; it was lying. That is why the cheating history remains such a sensitive part of how fans are now interpreting the divorce.

A Vegas Wedding, Morning-After Doubts, and the Start of a Hard Marriage

Their 2016 wedding was pure Vegas chaos. Bunnie described the ceremony as involving a chapel, substances, and the couple listening to wedding-ready music before saying “I do.”

She also admitted Jelly Roll had specifically asked her not to do cocaine before the wedding, but she still described herself as in that state. The morning after, she woke up hungover and had her first married fight with him. The fight started after she admitted she thought the wedding may have been a mistake.

It is a startling detail now, given that the pair later turned that spontaneous chapel wedding into one of the most romantic parts of their public love story.

Years later, Jelly Roll shared a reel from their vow renewal and said they had returned to the same little Las Vegas chapel seven years after stumbling into it the first time. He wrote that his only regret from their original wedding night was never seeing her in a dress.

He also promised he planned to give her the life she deserved and called her his anchor. At the time, it read like a love letter. Now, it reads like a heartbreaking reminder of how much they tried to rewrite the rough beginning.

Bailee’s Rescue Changed the Marriage Overnight

One of the most emotional parts of Bunnie’s memoir involved Jelly Roll’s daughter, Bailee. Bunnie described how Jelly Roll got custody after discovering the conditions Bailee had been living in.

The child, then seven, had reportedly been caring for other children, had no room of her own, was living around a registered sex offender, and was not regularly seeing her biological mother. Bunnie also wrote that Bailee was malnourished.

That became especially serious when Bailee needed her tonsils removed and suffered complications because her tissues would not clot properly. Suddenly, Bunnie was not just in a new marriage; she was in a marriage with a deeply traumatized child who needed stability, care, and protection.

Bunnie and Jelly Roll’s First Breakup Came When She Felt She Could Not Carry It All

After Bailee’s surgery, Bunnie said she became overwhelmed. She wrote that she could not handle being a mom and a wife while also fighting for her place in Jelly Roll’s life and navigating early sobriety. So she moved out.

In hindsight, she described that moment as abandoning her family, even though she now says she knows she never would again. That confession gave fans one of the clearest looks at how heavy their life together had become.

This was not a couple dealing only with fame, attraction, and tabloids. They were also dealing with trauma, parenting, sobriety, and pressure from people around them.

Then Came the Infidelity That Fans Still Bring Up

Bunnie and Jelly Roll eventually reunited and moved into a home in Las Vegas. But the marriage hit another painful chapter when Jelly Roll moved back to Nashville without telling her. Bunnie wrote that he was talking to his ex behind her back.

Even so, she went to Nashville to try to save the marriage. The situation became one of the central wounds in their relationship. Bunnie later wrote that Jelly Roll continued to have flings and contact with exes, and that at one point she nearly took her own life before changing her mind.

The couple considered a three-month separation and planned to announce their split. Instead, they found their way back to each other. But Bunnie admitted it would take years to put the affair aside.

Jelly Roll Later Said the Affair Was One of His Worst Adult Moments

Jelly Roll also addressed the cheating himself in October 2025 on the “Human School Podcast.” He said he does not usually discuss the topic publicly, then described having the affair as one of the worst moments of his adulthood. He said it made him feel like he really could not “get this right” even though he knew he loved Bunnie.

The “Son of a Sinner” musician also said he did a lot of work to repair the relationship. At the time, he said the repair had been special and that he believed they were stronger than ever.

The filing comes after a major personal transformation that fans have been openly linking to the split. Online, commenters quickly began speculating about whether fame, confidence, and a changing lifestyle played a role. | Source: Instagram/jellyroll615

He added that although he wished their story had never included an affair, he was proud of who they had become. That makes the timing of this divorce news feel even more dramatic. Less than a year before the report, Jelly Roll was publicly describing the affair as something they had survived.

His Son’s Timeline Was Another Painful Detail Bunnie Tried to Clarify

Bunnie also used her memoir to explain confusion around Jelly Roll’s son, Noah. She wrote that before her, Jelly Roll had been involved with multiple women over many years.

Before me, J was a player […] One of them was an off-and-on again relationship that resulted in a son together. This woman gave birth to his son a week before we were married,” she penned.

Bunnie said Noah’s mother was already eight or nine months pregnant when she and Jelly Roll decided to be together. She also made it clear that while the relationship with Noah’s mother was difficult at first, it had grown into something respectful.

In July 2023, Bunnie publicly introduced Noah’s mother, Melisa, in a Facebook post about their blended family. She called Melisa “one stand up [sic] chick” and said the family could not imagine life without her. Bunnie also praised Melisa for holding things down for Noah while she and Jelly Roll were on the road.

It was a rare public embrace of a complicated family setup. And it showed how hard Bunnie had worked to make peace with the pieces of Jelly Roll’s life that existed before and alongside their marriage.

Publicly, Jelly Roll Often Made Bunnie Sound like His Saving Grace

For all the messiness, Jelly Roll frequently posted about Bunnie with deep affection. In one July 2023 tribute, he called it a “Bunnie appreciation post” and said he had never been more moved by anyone’s story than hers. He praised what she had overcome and said she had supported him through one of the darkest times of his life.

According to Jelly Roll, Bunnie did not want to be known only as his wife; she wanted to build her own empire, empower women, and share her story in a way that could motivate others. That post is one reason the divorce news feels so strange to longtime fans.

The public version of their relationship was not just romantic; it was full of gratitude, admiration, and a sense that they had both helped each other become better.

Their Baby Dreams Make the Split News Feel Even More Sudden

Another emotional layer is the couple’s fertility journey. In February 2026, Bunnie told People that IVF had been one of the hardest things she had ever gone through. She said she believed her past pain and current fertility journey might allow her to become a voice for women facing similar struggles.

Interesting Facts about the Late Jesse Jackson’s Six Children

The legendary activist once admitted there was one thing he might have done differently. It had nothing to do with marches, campaigns, or history-making speeches.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, one of the most recognizable civil rights leaders in modern American history, spent decades in the public eye fighting for justice. But in a 2012 interview with The Guardian, he revealed a far more personal regret.

“If you could edit your past, what would you change?” he was asked. His answer was strikingly honest: “While I’ve spent a lot of quality time with my children, perhaps it’s not been enough.”

That reflection now carries even more weight when you look at the six lives shaped under his care. Each one took a distinct path, with some soaring and others stumbling along the way. But all of them are impossible to ignore.

Santita Jackson, 62

Before politics and punditry, there was music.

According to her bio, Santita Jackson toured with Roberta Flack and even performed the National Anthem at President Bill Clinton’s second inauguration. She also became a familiar face on the Fox News Channel and later hosted her own show on The Word Network.

But her story weaves into American history in ways that feel almost cinematic.

According to The New York Times, Santita attended high school with Michelle Obama and later served as her maid of honor at her 1992 wedding to Barack Obama. She also became godmother to young Malia Obama, cementing a bond between two families who would shape national politics.

Still, her most formative classroom was at home.

In a deeply personal interview with Scripps News, Santita described growing up around tense and even dangerous moments during her father’s civil rights work. One phone call from her childhood still echoes:

“You pick up the phone and… ‘Hi, little girl.’ ‘Hi…’ ‘Is your father home?’ ‘No.’ ‘Was he wearing a trench coat this morning?’ ‘Yes, sir.’ ‘ Well, you know, you should call him at the office because if he comes home I’ll blow his [expletive] head off.'”

Instead of retreating, she leaned in.

“The greatest teacher I’ve ever had has been my father,” she said, explaining how watching him navigate hostile political spaces taught her the power of conversation. That philosophy became her own platform, blending media, music, and activism into one.

And yet, her journey was only the beginning of the family’s complicated public narrative.

Jesse Jackson Jr., 60

He was once seen as the political heir apparent. After serving 17 years in Congress, Jesse Jackson Jr. seemed poised for even bigger things.

But in 2012, headlines shifted dramatically when he announced through the Mayo Clinic that he was being treated for bipolar 2 disorder, a diagnosis that Time reported had stirred controversy within the mental health community.

Bipolar 2 involves cycles of depression and hypomania rather than full-blown mania. As the outlet explained, patients may experience elevated mood, racing thoughts, irritability, and bursts of productivity, but not the loss of contact with reality associated with bipolar 1.

Then came a fall that stunned Chicago.

In 2013, he was convicted of misusing campaign funds and sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. The rising star had crashed, and any chance of a comeback seemed unlikely.

But the story did not end there.

In January 2025, Axios reported that Jesse Jr. was stepping back into the spotlight as a radio host on Chicago’s historic WVON-AM. The station’s general manager noted that providing a platform for a talent like Jesse Jr. enabled WVON to maintain its disruptive influence across Chicago and other regions.

He had also sought a presidential pardon from Joe Biden, telling WTTW, “It would change the course of my life.” The pardon never came.

Instead, he found a microphone. And in Chicago, that might be just as powerful. But 2026 might be the year for his return to congress.

Jonathan Jackson, 60

Not every path in the family led through scandal or song.

Jonathan L. Jackson carved his career through business, education, and advocacy. In a 2022 interview with N’DIGO, he characterized himself as an individual fundamentally driven by justice.

He explained that his entire being revolved around a deep commitment to dismantling discriminatory obstacles and other hurdles that stopped diligent people from reaching the American dream.

He built credentials to match that conviction.

A graduate of Whitney Young High School, he went on to study business at North Carolina A&T University and later earned a master’s degree from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business.

His résumé spans investment analysis, real estate, brewing, teaching, and serving as a national spokesperson for the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Yet his personal life may be the most striking detail.

“Wonderful. I have been married for 26 years. I have three adult children,” he said back then when asked about family life. He maintained his residence in Jackson Park Highlands, where he lived directly across from his parents and just around the corner from his brothers and sisters.

But even there, he sees challenges, pointing to gun violence and the city’s population decline. The fight to stop people from leaving Chicago is something close to his heart.

Yusef Dubois Jackson, 55

If one sibling flirted with pop culture from the outside, Yusef Dubois Jackson jumped straight into it.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Yusef has worked as a private investor, attorney, corporate advisor, and community advocate, with more than 25 years spanning beverage distribution, media, and technology. He once led River North Sales & Service, growing sales dramatically before guiding it through a major investment.

Then he made an unexpected move.

In 2006, he put money into Radar Magazine and transitioned it into Radaronline.com. According to Chicago Magazine, the media-shy son of a famous reverend stepped into the publishing world with caution.

“Given my family’s background-and we are a very public family and very public people-there has been a general interest in my story,” he said.

He also acknowledged that a few media narratives frequently overshadowed the products he promoted. Additionally, he noted that some of these accounts contained inaccuracies or provided a false impression of the facts.

Rather than chase headlines, he focused on long-term impact.

In recent years, he has worked with the Jackson Legacy Foundation and Rainbow PUSH Coalition, helping lead initiatives from COVID-19 testing sites to food relief efforts serving over 500,000 meals. He also played a role in documenting and archiving his father’s work for future generations.

Quietly, deliberately, he built influence in rooms far from the spotlight.

Jacqueline Lavinia “Jackie” Jackson, 50

Named after her mother, Jacqueline Lavinia “Jackie” Jackson pursued a path rooted in academia and research.

In a heartfelt birthday message shared on Facebook in 2022, Reverend Jackson praised his daughter’s global impact. He wrote that she has advanced degrees in biology and cultural anthropology and earned a doctorate in International Educational Policy.

He described her as “brilliant and witty” and called her a “powerhouse in her own right.”

“We share lots of deep conversation and giggles,” he added. “She is truly a world changer.” For a man known for commanding crowds, the pride in those words felt intimate.

But the final chapter of this family story began under very different circumstances.

Ashley Jackson, 26

In 2001, a statement changed everything.

In a statement in The New York Times, Reverend Jackson acknowledged that he had fathered a daughter outside of his marriage. “I fully accept responsibility and I am truly sorry for my actions,” he said at the time.

He added, “As her mother does, I love this child very much.” He emphasized his commitment to providing emotional and financial support and protecting the child’s privacy.

That child was Ashley Jackson.

For years, she grew up largely outside the glare of the spotlight that defined her father’s life. Then, in October 2025, she made a bold announcement on Instagram.

“I’m beaming with excitement to announce my debut project as a producer under my new banner, Rainbow Child Productions,” she wrote in her post. The three-part docuseries, directed by Prentice Penny and showrun by Joie Jacoby, will explore her father’s cultural imprint through her own lens.

“We’re here to tell stories that honor legacy, bridge divides, and ignite moral imagination,” she shared.

In the end, the man who once wondered if he had spent enough time with his children left behind something undeniable: six people and one legacy still unfolding despite the reverend’s passing.

As previously reported, the longtime activist, Baptist minister, and two-time presidential candidate died February 17, 2026, at 84, according to NBC News. A cause of death was not immediately given.

A Family’s Farewell

He died peacefully on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family, the Jackson family said in an official statement.

“His unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and human rights helped shape a global movement for freedom and dignity,” the family said in a statement announcing his passing.

The family confirmed that he is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; their children, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Burns Jackson; father, Noah Louis Robinson; and stepfather, Charles Henry Jackson.

“Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world,” the family added. “We shared him with the world, and in return, the world became part of our extended family. His unwavering belief in justice, equality, and love uplifted millions, and we ask you to honor his memory by continuing the fight for the values he lived by.”

Public observances will be held in Chicago. Final arrangements will be released by the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Rev. Jackson Was a Witness to History

Long before his presidential campaigns, he stood beside Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. He was present in Memphis on April 4, 1968, when King was assassinated.

In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, Rev. Jackson recalled the moment, saying, “Every time I think about it, it’s like pulling a scab off a sore. It’s a hurtful, painful thought: that a man of love is killed by hate; that a man of peace should be killed by violence; a man who cared is killed by the careless.”

Rev. Jackson and Andrew Young were among the last surviving aides who witnessed the assassination.

South Florida Man Passes Away on Montana Hike, Family Shares Heartbreaking Final Message

A voicemail. That was the last anyone heard from him before he vanished into the Montana wilderness, and what investigators found days later told a devastating story.

Anthony Edward Pollio, 33, a Fort Lauderdale-area native, had been on a two-week road trip through some of America’s most iconic landscapes when he stopped at Glacier National Park in Montana alone. He went for a hike and never came back. Now his father is speaking out about who he was and the final words he left behind.

Who Was the Man Behind the Adventure

Anthony spent his childhood in Davie, Florida, where his dad, Arthur Pollio, described him as a genuine “Broward County boy.” He lived an active outdoor life, riding ATVs, kneeboards, and personal watercraft. By the time of his passing, he had also been an avid hunter for nearly 20 years.

He went to school at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Davie and later attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout his time at both schools, he actively competed as an athlete.

Later, Anthony studied hospitality at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, and he was presently living in Sebring, where he served as a deacon at his local church.

To the press, Arthur painted an even larger picture of a son who was impossible to reduce to a single description. He called Anthony a natural leader among friends and in his professional life, a kind and intelligent man who loved animals, and a “motorhead” with a passion for racing cars.

Where the Journey Began

The Montana trip was no impulsive decision. Anthony traveled extensively to explore various American landmarks and national parks over the course of several years. His journeys took him to sites like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and the Grand Teton National Park.

He also visited the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. During a trip to Thermopolis, Wyoming, he even participated in a search for dinosaur fossils.

“His life experiences in 33 years, some people don’t get to do ’til they’re 90 or their whole life,” Arthur said.

The Montana leg was part of a two-week road trip Anthony had been taking with a friend. But his companion decided not to stay there and continued traveling. So, Anthony remained in Montana alone, and on May 3, 2026, he arrived at Glacier National Park and checked in at Lake McDonald Lodge.

What the Last Hours Looked Like

From there, Anthony set off on the Mt. Brown Trail, a steep, roughly 10-mile round-trip path leading to the historic Mount Brown Fire Lookout.

His brother, Nicholas Pollio, explained his mindset:

“He saw a trail. It was only a few miles. It was daytime. His intention was to go up and see the sunset from the fire watch tower.”

Before he got too far into the hike, Anthony called his father and left a voice note. While breathing somewhat heavily, he told his dad what he was doing and that he loved him. That was the last message Arthur ever received from his son.

“He was fearless,” the grieving father told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

When Anthony didn’t return, authorities were notified, and a search began on Monday, May 4. Three days passed before his body was discovered on Wednesday, May 6, in a densely wooded area roughly 50 feet off the trail.

What Investigators Found at the Scene

His injuries, park officials confirmed, were “consistent with those sustained by a bear encounter.” Designated trails leading from Lake McDonald Lodge were temporarily closed while the investigation continued.

Arthur shared that he thinks Anthony encountered a grizzly bear on the way back down the mountain. “I believe he was probably accosted by the bear. Used the bear spray. He might have ran from there,” he said. “I think the bear may have chased him down, grabbed him by the shoulder.”

It was, in part, the bear spray can that helped lead investigators to Anthony’s body, as that was discovered first. But the National Park Service noted that the sequence of events leading up to the encounter remains under investigation, although early evidence points to it being a “surprise encounter.”

Glacier National Park is home to both grizzly bears and black bears. As recently as August of the previous year, a 34-year-old hiker had been injured by a bear that was likely startled while accompanied by two cubs. That encounter was non-fatal, and this one was not. In fact, this appears to be the first deadly run-in with a bear in the park since 1998.

How His Family Is Remembering Him

“Anthony was a fearless man,” Arthur echoed to Local 10 News. “He was an experienced hunter. Tons of experience. Educated. Very smart.”

The family’s grief is layered with the particular pain of knowing Anthony was prepared, informed, and careful about hiking. He carried bear spray. He did it during daylight. He told his father where he was going. And still, the mountain had other plans.

Now, the Pollio family is left with the memory of a man who packed more living into 33 years than most manage in a lifetime, and a voicemail that now carries the weight of a final goodbye.

Sadly, an even younger woman faced a similar fate a few months ago. Brianna L. Mohr, a 21-year-old from Brick, New Jersey, set out to hike Mount Marcy on February 12, with her dog by her side. Unfortunately, what began as a winter adventure quickly spiraled into a frantic race against time.

A Call That Changed Everything

Mount Marcy is not just another scenic trail. Rising 5,343 feet above the Adirondacks, it is the tallest peak in New York and widely regarded as especially dangerous during the winter months.

On that February afternoon, the conditions were unforgiving. Snow covered the ground, temperatures hovered well below freezing, and there was little protection from the wind.

Sadly, those conditions ruined this young woman’s hike.

At 3:05 p.m., Brianna placed a call that would set an enormous rescue effort into motion. According to the Asbury Park Press, she told dispatchers she had slipped off the trail near the summit and could not climb back to it.

She was stranded, and the only companion beside her was her dog.

Looking for Brianna Mohr

The New York State Forest Rangers received the alert from the hiker and immediately went into action. In a statement from the New York State Police, officials said rangers were deployed and began an extensive search.

Rescue teams advanced up the mountain using snowmobiles and a tracked utility vehicle. At the same time, the New York State Police Aviation Unit launched a helicopter, anticipating that a hoist rescue might be possible.

For a brief window, there was reason to believe she would be located quickly. Then the weather acted up again.

When The Sky Closed In

Clouds thickened over the peak and visibility dropped. According to People, this “heavy cloud cover” prevented the rangers in the helicopter from spotting her from above.

Without clear visibility, the aerial search could not continue effectively. One ranger was lowered to the ground at 6:06 p.m. at the Marcy Dam Outpost to continue the search on foot.

But by then, daylight was fading. The temperature in nearby Keene ranged from eight degrees below zero to 20 degrees that day, and the summit would have felt even colder.

Each passing hour reduced the margin for survival.

Still, the ranger pressed on through the dark, navigating snow-covered terrain and steep sections near the summit. The mission had shifted from a rapid extraction to a desperate ground search in worsening conditions.

Shortly before 10 p.m., at approximately 9:51 p.m., the ranger located Brianna near the summit. Sadly, she was showing no signs of life and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The only silver lining in this tragedy was that her dog was found alive and uninjured and was safely rescued from the mountain.

The Final Determination

Harsh weather conditions delayed the recovery of Brianna’s body until early the following day, when a helicopter lowered two rangers to the site.

An autopsy was conducted on February 14 at Glens Falls Hospital by forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica. Authorities determined that the cause of death was hypothermia.

After slipping off the trail and becoming stranded near the summit, she had been exposed to extreme cold for hours. In subzero temperatures, the body can lose heat rapidly, especially at high elevation with wind exposure.

As the official findings brought clarity, they also deepened the heartbreak waiting back home.
