She said there had been no warning signs beforehand; she had simply been having a good time before being walked downstairs. “It was as though it was presented as a surprise,” she said. “By the time I’d realized I was in danger, I was quite literally out to sea.”

Panettiere said the person who led her into the room, someone she had come to see as a protector, left immediately afterward. She described the man in the room acting as though the encounter was routine for him.

She said she waited for the woman who brought her there to leave before reacting. “That lion in me, that fire in me, my hair stood on end, and I became ferocious,” she said. “I was like, this is not happening.”

With nowhere to escape on open water, Panettiere said she bolted and hid wherever she could find on the boat. She said the experience taught her that nobody around her would be surprised by what had just happened. “I realized that there was nobody who was going to be empathetic to my situation,” she said, “that this was nothing new to them.”

Turning to Alcohol to Cope

Panettiere has said in past interviews that the pressures of performing, both on camera and off, eventually pushed her toward alcohol and substance abuse as a way to manage her depression.

The strain of playing Juliette Barnes on “Nashville,” a character whose struggles began to mirror her own, coincided with the years she says she drank most heavily to get through each day.

In an April 2023 interview with The New York Times, she recalled a moment when she no longer recognized herself. “My eyes were yellow,” she said, adding that doctors told her at 27 that her liver was failing and she was septic.

She would wake up shaking most mornings, she said, needing an entire bottle of alcohol just to get through the day, and would often swap in opioids to stave off drinking.

She left “Nashville” during its fourth season in 2015 to enter treatment, and later returned to treatment again in 2021 for eight months. By the time of that 2023 interview, she said she had been sober for almost two years and had deleted nearly every photo from her time deep in addiction, keeping just one as a reminder.

“To remind myself what I looked like,” she explained. “The fact that I thought I looked OK at that time is the scariest part to me.”

Her Final Flight Out of Los Angeles

One day before she died, Panettiere left Los Angeles, and she wasn’t alone. Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that she flew south from LA on Saturday with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson. Sources said Hickerson’s family was aware of the trip.

The pairing carries weight. Hickerson and Panettiere’s relationship has been marked by turmoil dating back to 2018. In April 2021, he was sentenced to 45 days in jail after pleading no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, or girlfriend, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office confirmed to People.

Court records showed Hickerson faced eight charges tied to alleged abusive incidents between May 2019 and January 2020, including four counts of corporal injury on a cohabitant and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

He was also sentenced to four years of probation, 52 domestic violence classes, $500 in restitution, and a five-year protective order. At the time, Panettiere spoke out about the alleged abuse.

“I am coming forward with the truth about what happened to me with the hope that my story will empower others in abusive relationships to get the help they need and deserve,” she said. “I am prepared to do my part to make sure this man never hurts anyone again.”

Despite that history, the two remained connected. By March 2026, they were photographed together again, this time under very different circumstances.

The Health Issue She’d Been Managing for a Year

A source close to Panettiere told TMZ she had reportedly been complaining about back pain for the past year — a detail that adds new context to a scene captured just five months before her death.

In March 2026, Panettiere was photographed leaving Los Angeles International Airport on crutches, with Hickerson at her side rolling her carry-on.

Her representative addressed the sighting in a statement to E! News: “Hayden has been privately managing a temporary nerve condition, which is the reason she was seen using crutches. She is recovering well and is on the mend.”

Panettiere herself offered a brief explanation in footage obtained by TMZ as she loaded her luggage into a car. “Just had some pinched nerves in my lower back, but I’m feeling good,” she said. Sources close to the situation insisted at the time that despite stepping out together, Panettiere and Hickerson were “just friends.”

Her Statement Amid Claims She Abandoned Her Daughter

The years of addiction and depression also coincided with a decision that followed Panettiere for years: her daughter Kaya, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko, moving to live primarily in Europe.

On Shetty’s podcast, Panettiere pushed back directly against claims that she had given up custody and walked away. “The idea that anybody would think that I would just give away my child and be okay with it is heartbreaking,” she said, “couldn’t be further from the truth.”

“The misconception is that I have been in the past forced into treatment when, in fact, I have been the one who sought it out,” she said.

She described losing herself while trying to act her way through the depression, saying the people around her, including Klitschko, didn’t initially understand what was happening. What followed, she explained, was years of cycling through depression, anxiety, alcoholism, and substance abuse as she searched for a way out.

She left “Nashville” during its fourth season in 2015 to enter treatment. She re-entered treatment again in 2021 for eight months. By the time of that Times interview, she said she’d been sober for nearly two years.

A Family Already Familiar With Loss

Panettiere’s death comes just over three years after her only sibling, Jansen Panettiere, died unexpectedly at 28. The family confirmed at the time, in a statement to CNN, that a medical examiner cited cardiomegaly, or an enlarged heart, coupled with aortic valve complications as the cause.

Jansen had followed his sister into acting as a child, later building a career as a voice actor best known for playing Shovelmouth in 2006’s “Ice Age: The Meltdown.”

Panettiere spoke about the toll of that loss in a September 2024 appearance on Today, admitting she still wasn’t sure she’d fully processed it. “When you lose somebody that you saw in all the important moments in your life, standing right next to you, it just rocks your world,” she said. “I want to leave this world a better place in his name.”

She later told EW that writing about Jansen in her memoir was the hardest part of the entire process, even harder than revisiting her own addiction or the boat encounter she’d kept quiet for so long.

Her Final Public Moment

One month before she died, Panettiere shared what would become her last Instagram post. On July 27, she posted a black-and-white photo of herself with friend Randall Slavin, his arm around her as she stuck out her tongue for the camera.

“Good times and good friends,” she captioned it. Slavin commented underneath at the time: “Love this. Good times babe. Xxx.”

It now stands as one of the last glimpses of Panettiere before her family confirmed her death on August 16, just months after she finally told her own story in her own words.

Just two days before the August 31, 2026, violence in New York, Pamela Cisneros had told her family she was “fine.” Patrick’s disbelief deepened as the television images showed him what had happened next.

Her Brother Realized Who He Was Seeing on the News

Patrick, 59, told The New York Post that he last saw Pamela in person on August 10, when the family gathered for their stepfather’s birthday.

Pamela regularly visited their mother, Patrick said, but those visits stopped shortly before the attack. “There was no sign something was wrong,” Patrick said. “Last week she stopped coming to see my mother.”

The family reached Pamela by phone shortly before Monday’s violence. “We called, she said she was fine on Saturday.”

Two days later, Patrick encountered his sister again in a way he could not have expected: while watching television coverage of violence near Times Square.

At first, he brushed off the reports as “typical New York crap.” His reaction changed after photographs from the police confrontation appeared. He recalled:

“That’s when I found out, then I was concerned. I was hoping it wasn’t her.”

Patrick also struggled to reconcile what he saw with his previous experiences with Pamela. “She never showed any aggressiveness or being violent. I don’t know what happened,” he said.

Pamela Had Struggled With Her Mental Health but Found Some Stability

Patrick said his 49-year-old sister had a history of mental health struggles. He was uncertain about the full details of her diagnosis. “I think bipolar, but I don’t know what else was going on,” he said.

Pamela had also experienced postpartum depression after the birth of her second child and attempted suicide several years earlier, according to Patrick.

In recent years, Pamela had been receiving monthly injections as part of her treatment. Patrick said the medication had helped bring some stability to her life.

After Monday’s attack, he questioned whether there had been a change in that treatment. “I think maybe she stopped the injection she was getting and that caused her to act the way she was,” Patrick said.

Sources cited in the report described previous encounters involving Pamela. Police responded to a mental health call in December 2018, when sources said she was intoxicated, screaming, and belligerent on Lexington Avenue. In March 2019, she attempted suicide by jumping in front of an E train in Queens, according to sources cited in the report.

Pamela Cisneros was also a mother of three. Patrick said two of her daughters lived in Florida with their father, while another daughter, who is autistic, lived in a Brooklyn care home.

Two Stabbings Led Police to Pamela Cisneros Near Times Square

Pamela was carrying two kitchen knives in a red Target bag when the violence began Monday afternoon, police said. She first stabbed a man named Tak Kam near West 41st Street and Seventh Avenue.

She then walked about a block before stabbing 32-year-old Erin Piacenti, a Bank of America executive from New Jersey. Both victims were stabbed in the abdomen.

Police subsequently tracked Pamela to an area about a block away, behind the New York Police Department (NYPD) substation. There, officers encountered Pamela while she was still holding the two knives.

Video of the confrontation, captured around 4:30 p.m., showed police trying to stop her with stun guns as she moved her arms around with a knife in each hand. The stun guns did not stop her, and Pamela continued approaching the officers.

What Pamela Cisneros Said as Officers Tried to Stop Her

As the armed confrontation continued, officers ordered Pamela to put down the weapons. The suspect reportedly told them:

“I’m not dropping anything; I would rather kill both of you. I will kill you.”

Police eventually shot Pamela as she continued approaching them. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she later died from her wounds. Meanwhile, Erin and Tak were reportedly taken to the same hospital, but Erin died from her injuries while Tak survived.

As previously reported, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch later described the stabbings as a “random and unprovoked attack,” according to CBS News. “At this point in the investigation, we have no reason to believe this incident was an attack of terrorism,” she said.

The First Victim Was Visiting From Rhode Island

Before Tak was named by The Post, earlier reporting identified him as the 68-year-old man who had exited the subway and was waiting with his wife to cross the street near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue.

Tak is from Rhode Island and was believed to have been visiting family in New York, according to ABC7 New York. His next-door neighbor, August DiMartino, spoke about the attack after learning what had happened.

“Absolutely terrible, to just find out that something that horrible can happen to somebody that close to you really makes the community seem vulnerable,” August said.

ABC7 also spoke with the victim’s family by phone Tuesday. The family declined an interview but provided a brief update on his condition. “He seems fine,” they said. The man was released from Bellevue late Tuesday afternoon.

While Tak recovered from his injuries, Erin’s death prompted new attention to the career and life she had built before the attack.

Erin Piacenti’s Professional Background

Erin worked as a vice president in BofA’s Business Selection & Conflicts team. Her LinkedIn profile lists February 2025 as the start of her position at the bank.

Before BofA, Erin worked at Davis Polk & Wardwell. She joined the law firm as an associate in October 2021 and remained there until January 2025. Her work included mergers and acquisitions, according to her professional profile.

While at Davis Polk, Erin completed a seven-month secondment at Morgan Stanley. She worked in the company’s Legal & Compliance Division from August 2023 through February 2024.

Her relationship with Davis Polk began while she was in law school. She worked there as a summer associate from June through August 2020.

Erin had also worked as a legal intern with Major League Baseball from May through August 2019. Before entering law, her profile lists positions at Bloomingdale’s and internships at Saks Fifth Avenue.

She Graduated With Flying Colors From Fordham Law

Erin earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2021. She graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Order of the Coif, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Erin also participated in the Fordham Law Review and Fordham Moot Court Board. Her listed academic activities included the 46th Annual Kaufman Memorial Securities Law Competition and the UCLA Cyber Crimes Moot Court Competition.

She received a Legal Writing Award and was a Mary Daly Scholar. Before attending Fordham, Erin studied at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2016.

After graduating from Fordham in 2021, she began her associate position at Davis Polk that October. She moved to Bank of America in February 2025.

Erin Piacenti Had Recently Celebrated a Personal Milestone

Erin was married to attorney Frank Piacenti. The couple had recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary, according to People. A wedding image of the couple also serves as the profile picture on Erin’s private Instagram account.

They had also purchased their first home in Chester, New Jersey, in September 2025, according to property records obtained by the same publication. Chester is about 40 miles west of New York City.

Frank graduated cum laude and was a member of the Fordham Law Review, according to his professional biography at Kasowitz. He practices complex commercial litigation.

Before joining Kasowitz, Frank clerked for U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore in the Southern District of Florida. While attending law school, he also served as a judicial intern for U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska in the Southern District of New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in 2018.

Erin and Frank’s connection to Fordham later became part of the university’s response to her death.

Bank of America Called Erin Piacenti a ‘Valued Teammate’

Bank of America issued a statement after Erin’s death. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones,” the company said in a statement provided to Reuters.

Matthew Koder, president of Global Corporate & Investment Banking, also addressed Erin’s death in an internal memo reviewed by Reuters. Koder described her as a “cherished teammate and friend.”

“Erin was a valued member of the Business Selection and Conflicts team, having joined the bank 18 months ago,” Koder wrote. “Her loss is being felt deeply by many.”

Koder said Bank of America’s security teams were “fully engaged” in supporting the police investigation and addressing the safety and security of the bank’s offices and employees. Bank of America’s One Bryant Park office is near Times Square.

Fordham Remembered Erin and Frank as Members of Its Law Community

Fordham University also released a statement following Erin’s death. “We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic and senseless loss of our alumna, Erin [Guiltinan] Piacenti,” a university spokesperson told CBS News.

The university noted that Erin and Frank both graduated from Fordham Law in 2021 and had remained connected to the school. Fordham extended its condolences to Frank and their loved ones.

“During this devastating time, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with Frank, their families, and all who knew and loved Erin,” the spokesperson said.

The first 911 call reported gunfire directed at a vehicle outside Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend. Within moments, other callers reported that the gunman had entered the school, setting off an emergency response that would unfold in just minutes.

The shooting on Thursday, October 15, 2026, left five people dead, including three children, ages 5, 8, and 11, and a teacher, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB).

Two other people, ages 7 and 54, were hospitalized. Their conditions were not immediately reported. OPB’s report did not identify the victims by name.

The first 911 call came at approximately 12:59 p.m. Within three minutes, officers had reached the school. A nearby resident’s account and later police statements provide a closer look at how those minutes unfolded.

A Neighborhood Walk Was Interrupted by Gunfire

Bend resident Leah Schwartz was walking with her husband and dog near Silver Rail Elementary when she heard sounds she could not immediately identify.

During an interview with NBC News, Schwartz described the routine outing and the first sounds that interrupted it.

“We were just on our usual afternoon walk. My husband and my dog and I, we heard about three gunshots,” she told Hallie Jackson.

Schwartz said she initially wondered whether the noise might have come from nearby construction, so they continued walking. Then came three more shots, followed shortly afterward by sirens.

The significance of what she heard became apparent after she returned home and saw news coverage of the shooting. “It’s just really heartbreaking,” Schwartz said.

The First 911 Caller Reported Being Shot At

At 12:59 p.m., a person inside a vehicle called 911 to report being shot at multiple times, Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz said during a Thursday news conference, according to OPB.

The Bend Police Department‘s initial statement described the first report as an unknown man shooting into a car.

About a dozen additional 911 calls followed, reporting that a shooter had entered Silver Rail Elementary School. Dispatchers alerted law enforcement at 1 p.m. The school entered lockdown at 1:01 p.m., according to Krantz.

Within two minutes of the first emergency call, the reports had shifted from gunfire directed at a vehicle to a shooter inside an elementary school.

The Suspect Entered Through Locked Doors

The later police briefing provided an important detail about how the suspect gained access to the school. According to OPB, Krantz said the suspected shooter entered by firing at locked doors.

Officials said the suspect used a long gun, a firearm category that includes rifles and shotguns. They did not specify the weapon’s exact type. Authorities also had not established where the suspect went inside the building before being killed.

The first Bend Police officers arrived at 1:02 p.m., approximately three minutes after the initial emergency call. A CBS News 24/7 report included an assessment that the incident unfolded within “maybe 6 minutes.”

By the time officers reached the school, another encounter involving the suspect had already begun.

A Community Member Followed the Suspect Into the School

Moments after officers arrived, an officer reported that the suspected shooter had been shot.

Bend Police initially raised the possibility that a bystander was responsible. At a later news conference, Krantz gave a more detailed account of what officers had learned.

“Moments later, an officer reported that the suspect had been shot by a community member who had seen the suspect enter the school, and pursued him into the school and engaged him,” Krantz said, according to OPB.

Officials said the community member fatally shot the suspect after following him into the building. They did not immediately identify the person.

An emergency medical services radio dispatch captured an early, unconfirmed description of the person involved. “It looks like the shooter has been neutralized, possibly shot by a father at the school,” the dispatch audio said, according to CNN.

At the news conference, however, officials described the person only as a community member. They did not confirm whether the individual was a parent or had another connection to the school.

With the suspect dead, officers continued clearing the building and checking for victims.

Students Were Evacuated as Families Awaited Reunification

Bend-La Pine Schools arranged buses to transport students to Journey Church at 61303 S. Highway 97, where families and guardians were directed for reunification.

Officials asked the public to avoid both locations because of the large law enforcement presence.

As the district coordinated the reunification process, Superintendent Steven Cook addressed the tragedy in a statement released by the Bend Police Department. “We are stunned and heartbroken by this senseless tragedy,” Cook said.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the families and to everyone affected by this violence. No words can adequately express the grief our community is experiencing. Our immediate priorities are caring for our students and staff and assisting law enforcement and emergency responders,” Cook added.

At a 5:30 p.m. news conference, officials confirmed the deaths of three children, a teacher, and the suspected shooter. They also reported that two other people had been hospitalized, according to OPB.

The disruption extended into the following day. A notice posted on the Silver Rail Elementary School website announced that all schools would be closed on Friday, October 16. All activities and athletic events scheduled for that day were also canceled.

Suspect’s Age Emerges as Motive Remains Unknown

As more details emerged Thursday evening, officials had not publicly identified the suspected shooter. Four law enforcement sources told OPB that the suspect was a minor. One source said the suspect was 16 years old.

The sources requested anonymity because the information had not yet been made public. Authorities also said it was unclear whether the suspect had any connection to Silver Rail Elementary School.

Investigators Trace Firearm as Police Continue Their Work

Federal authorities also took steps to investigate the weapon used in the attack.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted an urgent firearm trace and received the results, NBC News reported, citing a source familiar with the investigation and crime scene. The report did not disclose what the trace revealed.

Bend police had completed active-threat training at a local high school in August, about two months before the shooting. Krantz addressed that preparation while discussing the department’s response.

“Unfortunately, this is something we train for on a regular basis, and we must,” Krantz added.

Investigators would also need time to examine the circumstances of the attack. “We will have a large police presence at Silver Rail Elementary School for the next several days as our officers continue to conduct a very thorough investigation so we get all the answers,” Krantz said.

Oregon Leaders Call for Action and Offer Support

Democratic Senator Ron Wyden addressed the shooting in a post on X, reflecting on its impact on the Bend community.

“My heart is with the victims of today’s shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School and their loved ones now facing the consequences of another school shooting in America,” Wyden wrote.

Fellow Senator Jeff Merkley said in a separate post that his team was monitoring developments. He expressed support for affected students and families and said no one should have to fear violence at school.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek praised school staff, parents, first responders, and the community member who intervened during the shooting. Speaking about the impact on Bend, she acknowledged the grief the community would face in the coming weeks.

“My heart is absolutely broken. Our hearts will stay broken in the days and weeks ahead. My daily prayers will be with this community, with the children, with the parents,” Kotek said, as reported by KVAL.

Kotek also recalled visiting Silver Rail Elementary nearly a year earlier and said state agencies were coordinating support for the community.

Her public response began with an Instagram statement saying she was monitoring the situation and thanking first responders. In a later post, she called on Oregonians to support one another and stressed that no community should have to experience such violence.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Christine Drazan also responded to the shooting, calling for action to prevent similar incidents. “My heart is with the students, families, teachers and staff facing an unimaginable tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend,” Drazan said, according to KVAL.

What We Know About Silver Rail Elementary School

Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, has a building designed to support classroom instruction and shared learning activities.

According to the school’s official website, Steel and Associates designed the campus with a central area connecting the gym, media center, and performing arts center. The building also uses LED lighting throughout, making it the first elementary school in Oregon to do so, according to the school.

Students also have access to a dedicated classroom for activities involving science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).

The school is led by Principal Lybe Hawkins. Its educational priorities include academic achievement, student well-being, and community involvement. The school also emphasizes helping children build positive relationships, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and develop resilience when facing challenges.

As investigators continue examining the firearm and the circumstances surrounding the attack, questions remain about the suspect’s connection to the school. As of this writing, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and police have said their investigation will continue in the days ahead.

Hayden Panettiere’s connection to home shifted throughout her life, from a celebrity-filled New York enclave to a playful Nashville retreat and a Hollywood Hills property purchased during her rise to fame. Each residence captured a different chapter, including the family bonds she later described as irreplaceable.

A Peaceful Address With a Famous Past

Panettiere spent much of her childhood at 129 Washington Spring Road in Palisades, New York. She lived there with her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, from approximately 1998 until 2013, according to brokers.

The home sits in Snedens Landing, an exclusive Rockland County enclave within driving distance of New York City. Angelina Jolie also grew up nearby, adding yet another Hollywood connection to the area.

The 4,000-square-foot house where the siblings grew up was built in 1998 with a mansard-style roof. According to its January 2025 listing coverage, it returned to the market for $3.99 million.

The grounds have a gas fire pit, barbecue area, and landscaped gardens. A koi pond filled with lotus flowers, water lilies and frogs gives the property a charming detail that feels almost removed from Panettiere’s fast-paced professional life.

Most importantly, this was the home Panettiere shared with Jansen during their formative years. After his death from an undiagnosed heart condition in February 2023, at age 28, places tied to their childhood took on a much heavier meaning.

Panettiere described the depth of that loss in September 2024. “When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul,” she told People.

She said Jansen had been her only sibling and that she had always felt responsible for protecting him. His death came only three weeks before the February 2023 premiere of “Scream 6,” a film that had marked her return to work after years of personal struggles.

Personal trainer Marnie Alton eventually helped her begin moving forward through gradual exercise and long walks that became informal therapy sessions. “Marnie empowered me,” Panettiere said.

Even as her confidence returned, she never suggested that losing Jansen was something she could simply overcome. “I will always be heartbroken about it. I will never be able to get over it,” she said.

That grief later drew her back toward Rockland County. In the spring 2025 prologue to her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning,” Panettiere wrote that she had returned to live with her father, Alan “Skip” Panettiere, and stepmother for several months.

After almost 20 years living elsewhere, she found unexpected relief in familiar surroundings. Hiking, reading, golfing with her father, and walking past her childhood home helped her feel rested yet ready to challenge herself again.

“I didn’t expect to stay as long as I have, but after a few hard years, I needed to give my mind, body, and soul some rest,” she wrote in an excerpt covered by People.

The return also placed reminders of Jansen in nearly every room of her father’s house. His paintings hung across the walls, making his presence feel so immediate that Panettiere could almost imagine him walking through the door.

She recalled him speaking too quickly and too loudly, wearing an “[expletive]-eating, ear-to-ear grin” after deliberately annoying her. She described herself as sitting with her brother’s spirit in every room, an experience that helped her confront both his death and other traumas explored in her memoir.

Nashville Offered a Softer Kind of Escape

Another important home waited hundreds of miles south. Panettiere’s 4,500-square-foot Nashville property at 2013 Castleman Drive became the cozy retreat she shared with Ukrainian professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko and their daughter, Kaya, then 2.

Interior designer Benjamin Vandiver helped turn the house in the Green Hills neighborhood into something far more personal than a polished celebrity showplace. His design mixed dramatic choices with comfortable rooms built around the family’s daily life.

The formal dining room drew inspiration from Panettiere’s love of the ocean. A large sea photograph dominated the space, while a pointed light fixture reminded her of a sea urchin.

Vandiver also installed oversized modern wingback chairs with Klitschko’s 6-foot-6 frame in mind. Klitschko selected yellow fabric for the chairs, giving the elegant room an unexpected flash of color.

For the living room, Vandiver spent months searching vintage stores and antique malls across the South. His finds included a collection of “National Geographic” magazines from the 1960s and 1970s.

The designer had previously worked on the nearby home of Panettiere’s former “Nashville” co-star Connie Britton. Panettiere even had a “jam room” loft built over the garage as a surprise for Klitschko. David Hicks wallpaper covered the room in a bold pattern that the actress called “epic.”

The musical retreat included his-and-hers guitar storage, drums and vintage amplifiers. Autographed pieces from Justin Timberlake, Fergie and will.i.am completed one of Panettiere’s favorite rooms. She could often be found playing guitar there.

Other bedrooms carried Vandiver’s mix of color and texture. One guest room paired distinctive wall covering with layered bed linens, a rug and a ceiling light created by French designer Serge Mouille.

The primary suite took a calmer approach. Panettiere described feeling at ease throughout the house, saying that sense of peace was exactly what she needed after a long workday.

Yet Kaya’s room held the detail that made the Nashville property unforgettable. Vandiver designed it as an ornate, feminine hideaway where mother and daughter could spend time together.

Although Panettiere was petite, she delighted in being able to curl up beside her toddler in the child-sized bed. The “Nashville” cast and crew also gave Kaya a miniature director’s chair made especially for her.

“I will always remember this house because it’s where I first raised my daughter,” Panettiere said during a 2017 home tour. “And that’s a really cool feeling.”

Her Hollywood Home Met a Dramatic Fate

Before Nashville became her family retreat, Panettiere had purchased a Hollywood Hills house with her mother, Lesley Vogel. They paid $2.63 million for 7640 Curson Terrace in March 2008, when Panettiere was 19.

The purchase came two years after her breakout in “Bring It On: All or Nothing.” She owned the home during her star-making role as Claire Bennet on “Heroes” and while appearing in the 2009 comedy “I Love You, Beth Cooper.”

Panettiere and Vogel briefly offered the house for rent at $9,500 per month in August 2009. They lowered the price to $8,000 before withdrawing the listing that September.

In February 2014, Panettiere sold the property for $3.075 million. An LLC named Thrasher NK purchased it, beginning more than a decade of sales, ownership changes, and financing transactions.

Curson NK LLC acquired the house for $5.5 million in October 2016, with financing involving 7640 Curson LLC. By 2023, more than $12 million in debt associated with the property had fallen into default.

A January 2024 filing put the default at $12.82 million. That July, foreclosure proceedings transferred the property to Knight Development Group LLC through a trustee’s deed valued at $13.45 million.

The house Panettiere once shared with her mother has since been demolished. Its half-acre lot was offered in August 2026 for $6.99 million, according to the property report.

The listing now promotes a fully approved development opportunity rather than a surviving celebrity home. Plans call for an approximately 14,705-square-foot contemporary estate designed by Roman James Design, with structural work by KOR Engineering.

The proposed mansion includes a cantilevered infinity pool, private wellness spa, rooftop sky terrace and entertainment lounge. Its “Ready-to-Issue” status means a purchaser could begin construction immediately.

Aaron Kirman, Daniel Milstein, and Gregory Romano of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California hold the listing. For all its ambitious plans, the vacant site carries no visible trace of the home Panettiere bought during one of her career’s brightest periods.

Hayden Panettiere died suddenly on August 16, 2026, at age 36, leaving these homes as poignant markers of the life she built with the people she loved most. Though some have changed and one has disappeared completely, the memories attached to them remain, from the childhood rooms she shared with Jansen to the Nashville haven where she first raised her daughter.
